Love Scout Episodes 5 and 6 Highlights

“Was that a dream? Could that have really happened?”

We knew it! The kiss was a fake-out. Ji-yoon just rested her head on Eun-ho’s shoulder and fell asleep again. Not that it changes anything. When she wakes up, Ji-yoon is bewildered. Did she touch Eun-ho’s face? Or was it all a dream? No, it was all real, Sis. You are smitten with your handsome secretary and can’t get your eyes off him. Good job staring at him while ignoring your work.

Unable to get that night off her mind, Ji-yoon asks Eun-ho outright if he came back to the office. But Eun-ho denies it out of concern things might get awkward between them. However, Ji-yoon figures that Eun-ho was there that night. Confronting Eun-ho about it, Ji-yoon claims she wants him to pretend nothing happened that night. But it is palpable neither of them wants to do that.

To enhance teamwork, Mi-ae sets up a mini gathering at Eun-ho’s house. At first, Ji-yoon refuses to go, getting Eun-ho disappointed since he wants to make her a home-cooked meal. Yeah, we believe you, Eun-ho. Curious about how good a home-cooked meal is, Ji-yoon shows up at Eun-ho’s doorstep, dressed up with a cake in hand. But the thing is: Mi-ae and the others can’t make it, so it will only be Ji-yoon and Eun-ho.

Embarrassed, Ji-yoon attempts to leave, but Eun-ho follows her and persuades her to eat dinner with him. One thing leads to another and Ji-yoon falls asleep on the couch. (We guess the trend now is heroines having severe insomnia that can only be cured when the male leads stay by their side.)

In the morning, Ji-yoon is flustered to open her eyes in Eun-ho’s house, and he is more flustered as Byeol is about to return home from the field trip. Cue: our leads scrambling to hide any traces of Ji-yoon being there that night. But wouldn’t you know it? Our leads get caught by Byeol. Yet, luckily Ji-yoon slips off before Byeol can recognize her. Theoretically, nothing happened between Ji-yoon and Eun-ho, but the mood between them couldn’t get more awkward the next morning.

“All you need is one person who truly loves you.”

A blooming friendship has been brewing in the background between Ji-yoon and Byeol. And it is sweet to see the two ladies get along with each other before Eun-ho gets into the picture. Raised by her single father, Byeol often gets teased by mean kids, but Ji-yoon comforts her. Love isn’t about quantity and having two parents doesn’t mean one gets twice as much love. Sharing her story of being raised by a single father, Ji-yoon assures Byeol that having a single parent doesn’t mean the person lacks anything.

Things happen and Byeol gets hurt and Ji-yoon has her transported to the hospital and stays by her side all along. But the thing is: Eun-ho doesn’t know Ji-yoon and Byeol know each other, so he gets terrified after learning Byeol is missing. Then he is both surprised and relieved to hear Byeol is with Ji-yoon.

Hearing Byeol is upset because of the mean kids’ nasty comments, Eun-ho feels sad. He is trying with all his might to take good care of Byeol, but at times like this, he doesn’t know what to do. Thankfully, Eun-ho has Ji-yoon by his side to comfort him and assure him he is doing a good job and Byeol knows it, too.

“So, who is Director Yoo to Kang Ji-yoon?”

One night, when Ji-yoon has trouble sleeping again, she wonders how she could sleep peacefully back at Eun-ho’s house. No, Ji-yoon, it isn’t the couch that helped you sleep but Eun-ho being by your side. When she calls him under the excuse of asking about the couch, Eun-ho offers to read Ji-yoon a book to help her fall asleep. But she rejects him, getting Eun-ho disappointed.

While Ji-yoon holds back and denies her feelings, Eun-ho is more accepting of his growing feelings, inviting Ji-yoon to watch a performance with him since he has two tickets and can’t go alone. As usual, Ji-yoon acts nonchalant but comes to work dressed up to the nines that day. Since Eun-ho has to work outside the company, they go separately. Carrying two cups of coffee, Ji-yoon waits for Eun-ho outside the venue, feeling sad when he is late and getting elated when he finally shows up. Ji-yoon can’t deny it anymore. She is in love with Eun-ho.

“Make her prove herself to you.”

As for this week’s client, it is the same as usual with Hye-jin snatching Ji-yoon’s candidate and the latter having to start over and look for another candidate, and then Hye-jin causing more trouble and Ji-yoon cleaning after that. But more than those details, we are glad to see Ji-yoon show character growth and trust people more. Her approach isn’t cold and pragmatic anymore but feels more humane. Actually, Ji-yoon’s rationalism and Eun-ho’s people-oriented attitude balance out each other well, making them a perfect team.

Love Scout Episodes 5 and 6 Musings

Rounding out our characters, we have another two key players. First of whom is Woo Jung-hoon (Kim Do-hoon), an executive at Ji-yoon’s company with a crush on Ji-yoon who feels jealous of her close relationship with Eun-ho and questions what Eun-ho is to Ji-yoon.

Also, there is Jeong Su-hyeon (Kim Yoon-hye), a children’s books author living next door to Eun-ho. At first, the drama has us believe Su-hyeon is a single mother to her cute son, Jung Seo-jun, who attends the same kindergarten as Byeol. But we later learn that Seo-jun is Su-hyeon’s nephew, and she is raising him after his parents died. Over their single parents’ status, Eun-ho and Su-hyeon forged a deep bond. But while Eun-ho deems her as only a friend, Su-hyeon likes him romantically and feels uneasy when she spots Eun-ho with Ji-yoon.

In an interesting turn of events, we got a few run-ins between Jung-hoon and Su-hyeon, hinting they might end up together. Which is way better than getting an annoying love quartet. But for this to happen, Jung-hoon needs to learn that Su-hyeon is a single woman. Honestly, we are a bit disappointed that the drama made Seo-jun Su-hyeon’s nephew instead of her son. What is wrong with a single mother finding love again and getting together with a single man? But then again, let’s hope the drama handles this arc carefully.
