Love Scout Episodes 7 and 8 Highlights

“I am the problem. I like you, Eun-ho.”

On the outside, Eun-ho and Ji-yoon are watching a piano recital, but they are just lost in their world, taking turns sneaking peeks at each other while barely holding back from holding hands. That scene is sizzling with chemistry and tension and the background music maximizes the impact. Following the recital, our leads take a walk. And by this point, Ji-yoon can no longer deny her feelings for Eun-ho.

From being absent-minded at work and staring at Eun-ho, holding the elevator for him, suggesting they eat lunch together and getting disappointed when others join them, getting curious about Eun-ho’s stance on dating at work, to making excuses to see him. Ji-yoon is falling down a rabbit hole and won’t get out anytime soon.

Realizing that her growing feelings for Eun-ho are getting in the way of her work, Ji-yoon decides to get a new secretary but then scraps the idea. Hearing that, Eun-ho wonders if he did something wrong or if he is lacking in any way. Ji-yoon is rather straightforward in her answer. She is trying to keep a distance because she likes Eun-ho.

Good news: we have a confession. Bad news: the mood can’t get more awkward, with Ji-yoon avoiding Eun-ho and going to meetings alone. It also doesn’t help matters that Eun-ho didn’t give Ji-yoon an answer to her confession. He just stood there taken aback, and didn’t utter a word. Deep down, Eun-ho wants to admit to liking Ji-yoon too, but his single father status makes him reluctant to get into a relationship.

“I will go to you.”

Meanwhile, Jung-hoon and Su-hyeon have another coincidental meeting and bond over their unrequited love. As for Jung-hoon, he was rejected by Ji-yoon before he could even confess. Still, Jung-hoon encourages Su-hyeon to confess her feelings and ask her “crush” to go out for a movie together. Though Eun-ho agrees to watch a movie with Su-hyeon, we can tell he is uncomfortable about meeting her in private. Pulling an all-nighter with Ji-yoon seems more alluring. But stealing glances at Ji-yoon isn’t enough for her to realize Eun-ho likes her, too.

Hearing Eun-ho is going on a “date,” Ji-yoon turns pale. She doesn’t like the idea of Eun-ho watching a movie with another woman, but she acts nonchalant until she can’t stand it anymore. Giving in to her feelings, Ji-yoon calls Eun-ho, telling him not to watch that movie. Actually, Eun-ho has canceled his plans with Su-hyeon and is on his way to see Ji-yoon since he finally mustered up the courage to follow his heart.

Following a passionate kiss, our leads officially start dating. But the thing is: Ji-yoon wants to keep it a secret at work. You know, keeping work and personal life separate is crucial to her. Still, Ji-yoon won’t mind holding Eun-ho’s hand while out of the office or stealing a moment or two to show their affection for each other.

The biggest supporter of this ship is Byeol, who is happy to learn her dad got a girlfriend though she has yet to figure out it is Ji-yoon. That sweet kid is so mature, and Eun-ho did a great job raising her. Contrarily, Mi-ae’s reaction to the news of our leads dating is disappointing, opposing it because Eun-ho has a kid. Satisfyingly enough, Ji-yoon stands up for Eun-ho, arguing that she likes everything about him.

“As you say, if I am a candidate that can’t be overlooked, such an investment won’t be too much to ask.”

On the business side, the first project features an office couple who broke up recently and can’t handle working together. The woman is looking for a new job. But following a comical bickering session, she reconciles with her boyfriend and decides to stay in her current position.

The second one involves a lawyer who is getting divorced after her husband cheated on her under the excuse that she only focuses on her work so he couldn’t help but have an affair. (Is this a Good Partner crossover?) The wife wants to get custody of their son but to do so she must find a new job with more flexible conditions.

Unluckily, the new company couldn’t provide those conditions, so the wife decided to quit her job altogether. Except, her son overhears her talk with Ji-yoon and Eun-ho and decides to stay with his dad, so his mother won’t be forced to give up on her career. The sweet boy even drops by Ji-yoon’s company to ask her to help his mother continue working. Luckily, it all ends well with Eun-ho finding a suitable position for the wife that will allow her a work-life balance without giving up on either side.

“Please excuse me. I have a meeting to attend.”

While setting up the company, Ji-yoon received an investment from Jung-hoon’s father, making him the major shareholder. But the catch is: Jung-hoon’s father also invested in Hye-jin’s company and seems to be testing the waters before choosing which side to support. (Hye-jin suggested Jung-hoon’s father kick Ji-yoon out and have her take over as CEO, but Jung-hoon’s father is still weighing his options.)

Things were going fine between Ji-yoon and Jung-hoon’s father (He even wanted Ji-yoon to become his daughter-in-law.) until Ji-yoon refused to do as ordered and recommend one of Jung-hoon’s father’s men for an important position. To get back at Ji-yoon, Jung-hoon’s father uses Hye-jin to get the man hired and invites Ji-yoon to an event where he mocks her.

Claiming she has another appointment, Ji-yoon attempts to leave, but Jung-hoon’s father stops her. Sensing Ji-yoon feels comfortable, Eun-ho steps in and leaves together with Ji-yoon, getting Jung-hoon’s father fuming. It is on this powerful note that we end this week.

Love Scout Episodes 7 and 8 Musings

It is still too early, but we are almost calling this the sweetest office romance of the year. The romantic scenes are breathtaking and the actors are killing it in their respective roles and the chemistry between them is sizzling. As for Jung-hoon and Su-hyeon, they look cute together, and seeing them open up to each other about what they can’t tell others makes me root for them getting together all the more.

At first, Jung-hoon assumed Su-hyeon was married but after hearing she was a single mother, Jung-hoon sincerely apologized for the preconception. Even after learning that Seo-jun is Su-hyeon’s nephew, nothing changes in their friendship. Jung-hoon respects Su-hyeon for herself and nothing else matters to him.

When Ji-yoon was young, the building where she lived with her father caught on fire. Luckily, they made it out safely, but Ji-yoon’s father went in again to save a little boy who was stuck inside. You might have already guessed it, but the drama drops hints that the boy is Eun-ho and he will probably feel guilty and blame himself after learning the truth. After all the progress we got this week, we hope the drama won’t turn dark and give us a breakup next week. The drama has been interesting all along and a cliche separation is the last thing we want to see.
