Nevertheless Episode 4 Key Moments
“Tell your friend that seeing any guy just because she’s lonely won’t end well. Lonely people will be lonely even if they date someone.”
While in the embrace of Jae-eon, Nabi realizes how crazy her situation is but nonetheless thinks that it was so good. Even though Jae-eon is still a mystery to Nabi, he continues to spend the nights in her house, and grows more familiar with each other’s touches.
On the other hand, Bit-na tells Gyu-hyun what happened to them is just a drunken mistake. However, Gyu-hyun firmly states that for him it was not a mistake, which makes Bit-na say that he’s just overreacting just because they slept together once. With Bit-na’s reaction, Gyu-hyun agrees to go on a blind date set up with Se Young’s high school friend.
“You said you were keeping your butterflies from their freedom. I think you’re right. There’s a huge world just outside the glass. You’re giving them false hope.”
Nabi sees Jae-eon coming out from their department’s office, but he picks up a call smiling and telling the person that he’ll be there soon. As Nabi enters the office, she sits down and indirectly asks for advice for herself from the people in the office.
Jae-eon meets up with Seol-a, and she asks him about his butterflies. Last time, Jae-eon shared that he would soon free his butterflies, but up until now he has not. Seol-a then tells Jae-eon that she now agrees that he’s keeping them from freedom, and Jae-eon responds by saying he’s just not yet ready to let go. She then tells him to at least treat them well since he has a problem of tormenting things that he likes.
Convinced by the advice she has heard, Nabi calls Jae-eon informing him that she can’t come with him to the exhibit on Sunday, her birthday.
“I thought it was the worst birthday ever. But I guess life is full of variables.”
Walking happily on the day of her birthday, Nabi visits her mother’s house and is greeted by Ttoli, the dog. She sees that her mother still has a visitor, and she tells her mom how she again feels neglected. She walks out from her mother’s house recalling her past birthdays and how she has a lot of friends around her but nobody to spend her birthday with.
Waiting for the train to arrive, Nabi sees Jae-eon on the other side. She looks again at the other side after the train has passed, but sees no one. Just when she was about to enter her train, Jae-eon grabs her and she is surprised.
They spend the day together, and at home, Jae-eon plans to cook her some seaweed soup. They get intimate, and while lying down together on the sofa, Jae-eon receives a call from Seol-a and then he leaves Nabi telling her that something urgent came up.
“I felt this last time, but it’s not awkward even when we haven’t met for a long time. Maybe since we’re childhood friends.”
On the bus, Nabi meets Yang Do-hyeok, her childhood friend from 10 years ago. His potatoes fall down on the floor of the bus, and Nabi helps him. It was raining that night, and Do-hyeok shares an umbrella with Nabi, and walks her home.
As Jae-eon leaves, Nabi is left hungry on the night of her birthday. She goes to the convenience store to buy food, but she exits and passes by the noodle place Do-hyeok is working at. She looks at the door, seeing Do-hyeok still inside.
Do-hyeok sees her and invites her inside. He serves her seaweed soup and a mini cake, and Nabi is amazed at his skills and memory. They then reminisce about their times together when they were still young.
“That’s why you should be careful when you’re young. You might think reckless behavior can be forgiven because you’re young. But from what I experienced, it’s not the case. You’ll get hit with the aftermath at a crucial moment later on.”
While working on her sculpture, Nabi overhears a conversation about how arrogant Jae-eon is. She is shocked as she hears her name in the conversation and learns that she is rumored to be the target of Jae-eon at present.
Nabi’s professor walks into the room, and checks on her work for the exhibit. She then tells Nabi how rumors travel fast since Korea is just a small country. The professor also reminds her how graduation is already near, and she should focus on her work.
“I ran thousands of simulations inside my head, but the moment I looked into his eyes, my mind went blank.”
Awakened by the reality, Nabi plans to tell Jae-eon that she has decided to end things with him even though they are not dating. However instead of telling those to him, Nabi tells Jae-eon about her ex visiting her and persuading her to date him again because of the rumors about her and Jae-eon. Nabi also asks Jae-eon if he’s seeing anyone at the present, and Jae-eon answers her that there is none.
Their conversation is interrupted as a car arrives at the scene, and the man comes out of the car asking if he is Jae-eon. As Jae-eon confirms his identity, the man throws him a punch, and Nabi is hurt while stopping the man from beating Jae-eon.
Nevertheless Episode 4 Musings
A new character is introduced in the latest episode, and it seems like Yang Do-hyeok will be a character who is drawn towards Nabi. He seems to be a nice and sincere character, and I hope that he wouldn’t be like Kim Eun-han who also seemed nice at first.
Gyu-hyun and Bit-na appear to have a tense atmosphere between them after spending the night together. Gyu-hyun is firm that he is already sure on how he sees Bit-na, but Bit-na also surely rejects the idea of them dating. However, with Bit-na’s actions in the latest episode, there is a possibility that she would soon be open to the idea of dating Gyu-hyun.
Jae-eon remains a mystery for Nabi, but she is still attracted to him. All the warnings and her concerns do not stop her from enjoying her time with Jae-eon. Of course, they are still young and they are free to experience various things, but like what her professor said, she should still learn how to focus on her work.
Viewers can’t blame how Nabi could not resist the charm of Jae-eon. He is very flirtatious and smooth with his actions towards Nabi. He is somewhat dangerous but at the same time also addicting. There are still a lot of questions about him especially about the reason why a man angrily punched him at the end of the episode.
For the next episodes, viewers shall look forward to digging deeper about Jae-eon and the man at the end of the episode. We hope to learn more about Jae-eon’s character as just like Nabi, viewers still find Jae-eon’s character mysterious. Viewers shall also expect to see how Do-hyeok will pursue Nabi.
