Snowdrop Episode 11 Key Moments

Making a risky decision, Su-ho conspires with Lee Gang-mu and betrays his group. With the higher-ups’ negotiations also uncertain, the hostage-taking situation is moving in a bleaker and parlous direction.

“You were right. I must get out of here alive.”

Counting on a minute possibility that they can defeat the odds, Su-ho, Lee Gang-mu and Ms. Pi set forth to proceed with their escape plan. Subduing first the North Korean spies, they face a hindrance because of mercurial Bun-ok who tips Gyeok-chan about Su-ho’s betrayal.

Playing the proof of how the North Korean government entered an agreement without regard to their secret agents, Su-ho gripes on how they were given a mission to bring down the South Korean government, but they intend to abandon them.

Using his sister to sway his decision, Dr. Kang unsuccessfully convinced Su-ho. The latter also discovers the plan to eliminate him given by Director Choi. Just then, Bun-ok drags Young-ro to the room demanding the release of Dr. Kang and Gyeok-chan. With Young-ro at her gunpoint, she makes a firm stand.

In the middle of the North and South secret agents, Bun-ok chooses the North side. Thankfully, Ms. Pi arrives to sacrifice her body. In the end, the raging Bun-ok wasn’t able to do any harm since the gun she had does not have any bullets inside.

“We have eight days until the election. Mr. Lee and I will find a way for us to get out alive until then.”

While Director Eun attempts futile negotiations with Director Choi, he was not aware that the president has appointed Chief Eun as the new leader of the Office of Planning and Coordination and the hostage-taking situation as well.

Back at the dormitory, Su-ho and Lee Gang-mu explain the situation to the hostages. Still, some can’t trust Su-ho. Coming forward to a convincing speech of how their lives are at stake for the success of the national election, Ms. Pi illuminated them not to be selfish and unreasonable.

Gang-mu asserts that the higher-ups from both North and South Korean governments do not care about their lives at all. Explaining to them that they have eight days to achieve success in their goal of escaping the dorm alive, Su-ho tells them they can freely move inside. Gang-mu also reminds them of the placed booby traps and implores their commitment and cooperation.

Disregarding Ms. Pi, Bun-ok goes to her room and immediately contacts Chief Ahn through Ms. Pi’s radio. Thankfully, Gang-mu was able to prevent her from spilling the events inside the dorm. He warns her one last time not to cause trouble.

“If ever we will meet again, I will repay you for saving my life.”

Su-ho and Gang-mu discuss how they are going to proceed with the operation. The latter insists on bringing Han-na. Su-ho agrees but she can’t know that Dr. Kang is a North Korean spy and reveals her connection to Han Tae-il.

A flashback reveals how Su-ho once helped Dr. Kang while she was training on a snowy desert. She made a promise to him that he will repay the help he gave to her.

Discreetly working to secure the funds demanded by North Korea, Director Eun orders Chief Ahn to come up with a big amount of money. The director then proceeds to the camp just in time when Su-ho called to state their demands.

With Han-na joining their new mission to expose the national election ploy done by the ruling party. They agree to send copies of hard evidence directly to managing editors of media outlets. When the ANSP leaders saw the video of happy hostages, Chief Eun blames Han Tae-il for not being clear with his instructions

While proceeding to do the copies, Su-ho stumbles on Young-ro’s secret voice diary confessing her emotions when she first met him. Gang-mu attempts to sway Dr. Kang and gets a positive response of her wanting a cup of coffee.

Furious Gyeok-chan goes for another verbal spat with Su-ho. He further reveals the order to kill him but refuses to give the name of the person who gave the command.

Wanting to comfort Su-ho, Young-ro finds him at the rooftop. They go inside as she prepares to brew a coffee for him. She tells her the coffee is no ordinary one as it can erase bad memories. Like that moment when she sang at the record store and when she didn’t receive any call from him.

For his turn, Su-ho sips the coffee and talks about forgetting the time when he held her at his gunpoint. Young-ro does the same and tells him that she forgot it too.

The coffee, the mood and the woman in front of him spur Su-ho to give Young-ro a kiss. He tells her to forget the kiss they just shared. But scoops in for another kiss.

Snowdrop Episode 11 Musings

We’ve all been waiting for that kiss, and let’s hope moving forward Snowdrop would go for more sweet moments. We sure deserve fan service after all the patience we’ve shed in the crazy and compelling narrative since day 1.

There was never a time I hope for a happy ending in the series. Realistically speaking, bracing for its upcoming heartbreaking moments is inevitable. Probably, Su-ho’s response to Young-ro’s confession would be revealed at a poignant scene down the wire.

Pondering on the best possible scenario for the love pair is hard since the story takes a pragmatic route. Contemplating the remaining episodes and the problems ahead, I can be happy to fleeting moments of delight inside the dorm. Romance crumbs are also welcome.

As expected, Kim Hye Yoon is pulling off Bun-ok with an evil bravado that makes the character relevant to the story. Even after this episode, we don’t know if she will have another betraying moment. Same goes with Kim Min Kyu who successfully made viewers detest him for his committed portrayal.

Speaking of double-dealing, it looks like there’s a mole that would be revealed in the subsequent episode. Based on episode 12 preview, Director Eun is finally showing decisiveness to put Han Tae-il in his proper place.

I have an inkling that Dr. Kang’s promise to repay Su-ho will come in handy soon. We’re giving permission to include Han Tae-il as collateral damage if the final plan to outsmart the villains will utilize his cherished lover.

Right now, the unpredictability of Director Lim’s plan on his adopted son will be part of our Snowdrop worry. It’s honestly annoying how it’s not easy to figure out his intentions.

Can the combined forces of North and South Korean spies bring a miracle that would give us a reasonable and less harrowing ending?

Or is it gonna be a one-way ticket that would just put everyone in their rightful places.
