Taxi Driver 2 Episodes 9 and 10 Highlights
Previously, Taxi Driver 2 revealed the ulterior motive of the new taxi driver Ha-joon. His fraud businesses that used to bourgeon effortlessly have been affected by how Do-ki’s team closed the crimes related to the business.
It is also unveiled that a high-ranking police officer is in the same organization as Ha-joon. The latter also learns that Do-ki has the case files in Vietnam.
“No one is held responsible for the victims, especially at these two places: the military and hospital.”
This week’s case threads on the story of Han Jae-duk, a father whose daughter suffers comatose after surgery. He lost in the courtroom case so he continuously stage protests against the hospital director who operated on his daughter Su-ryeon. He claims he smelled alcohol at the time of his daughter’s surgery.
During the preliminary assessment, Do-ki sees the doctor had hand tremors. The tricky part is how the doctor seems to have a seamless reputation. There’s also no sign of her going to bars or purchasing liquors that could prove that she’s an alcoholic.
Deciding not to pick the project, Do-ki got inspiration when a lawyer (cameo by Namgoong Min) points out the case he’s working on shows the victim does not have anyone by his side.
This made him decide to take on the case. Unknown to him, the rest of the team feels the same and they probe further.
Pretending to be a patient, they secure details about a ghost surgeon doing the surgeries. To make matter worse, the surgeon is a salesman supplying medical supplies to the hospital and is not qualified to perform the surgery.
He also confirmed how the surgery with the daughter of the client they were helping failed leading to her comatose state.
“Because you lack power, because there’s nothing you can do, that’s why you choose to side with evil.”
Later, Do-ki also figures out how the evil director gets clients. She targets the elderly without family to get surgery. Utilizing efficiently her front of being a caring doctor, she has covered all the bases of her crime.
Crafting a perfect plan to avenge the victims of the evil director, Team Rainbow executes a series of traps to retrieve the money she got from her victims. They also alert the police to make sure she pays for her sins.
Knowing she could change her name once more and apply to operate as a surgeon, Do-ki closed that possibility for her. Fortunately. Su-ryeon also survives her coma and reunites with her father.
With another mission accomplished, the team is in high spirits. Suddenly, a weird sound erupts from Do-ki’s taxi. It went berserk and explodes in front of Go-eun, Kyung-koo and Jin-eon.
Taxi Driver 2 Episodes 9 and 10 Musings
Taxi Driver 2 continues to bring surprising situations that the public should be wary of in its 5th week. Once again, the series emphasized how we should pay attention to the elderly, especially if we have one in the family or neighborhood.
In the story this week, the elderly people who don’t have families anymore were taken advantage of by someone who acted concerned to them, but with an ulterior motive.
Moreover, this would raise awareness to check the existing laws for medical practitioners who might be taking advantage of the law’s loopholes in using their licenses to operate illegal doings.
Notably, the faint but significant lesson from the ghost surgeon’s predicament, hopefully, leaves lessons to be mindful of our choices. In the event we succumbed to the wrong ones, we can always genuinely regret and make up for it.
We had less than a minute of worry in the last scene of episode 10. But given how clever Do-ki and Chief Jang are, we know it is remotely impossible for Do-ki to fall into such a trap.
As seen in the preview of the next episode, Team Rainbow caught up on Ha-joon’s intentional appearance. It won’t take long for the thrilling confrontation to erupt.
