Taxi Driver 2 Episode 3 and 4 Highlights
After a successful mission in Vietnam, the team reunites to provide help to revenge-seeking people.
“One shouldn’t easily sign any document.”
Team Rainbow Taxi Service tackles a case of an elderly woman who was taken advantage of by a trot singer.
Grandma Lee is on the brink of jumping into the railway so the approaching train can take her life. Fortunately, she sees the sticker of Rainbow Team, changes her mind, and asked for help.
Life has been hard for her, and her son barely visits her so she lives alone. In the fishing town she lives, a trot singer named Yoo Sang-gi constantly gives entertainment to the elderly along with selling various small appliances learned of her situation.
Winning her heart with attention, and effort plus using the same story Grandma Lee has, she decides to buy something from the items Sang-gi sells.
Refusing her money, he asks for a different favor instead. That is to sign up for a credit card application.
Unknown to her the credit card she applied for was used to buy the items Sang-gi sold to the townspeople. The village people seek a refund when they realized the items are defective. Sang-gi has already left the town and Grandma Lee confronts the complaints.
Vehemently refusing her son to be contacted by the police officer, Grandma Lee went home and received a call from Sang-gi. Truly evil, he gives her a tip to take her life so she can take the debts with her and not cause problems for her son.
Taking Grandma Lee’s case, Team Rainbow traps Sang-gi and gives him a dose of his own medicine.
Not only did Do-ki destroy an illegal den of phone service subscriptions, Go-eun canceled the subscriptions of victims who were unaware they have phone service under their names. Sang-gi has been feeding the illegal business with elderly customers who are clueless about it.
Next, the team also crashes on Sang-gi and his minions’ new destination by spoiling the trademark raffle where they get their targeted elderly.
Instead, they lure the conman trot singer through CEO Jang’s posing as a senile old man who buries his wealth in the mountains.
They also retrieve the stash of cash they got from all the people they deceived in their truck. From there, Team Rainbow also serves the punishment Sang-gi and his minions deserve.
Taxi Driver 2 Episode 3 and 4 Musings
For his week 2 transformation, farm boy Do-ki is as equally amusing as the incognito characters Go-eun and CEO Jang. Exposing possible deception that the elderly and vulnerable might succumb to, the series efficiently utilized the cast.
Highlighting both the precarious situations of small-town old people prone to be fooled and manipulated, the drama’s message hopefully rings for anyone who has one who lives far away.
As easy targets, they won’t even know they are being defrauded. Unfortunately, there are a few venues where money can be extorted from them like what the recent chapters showed. It’s disheartening since like Grandma Lee’s story, she does not want to inconvenience his son only to realize that she was betrayed by someone she trusted.
That being said, this leaves a lesson to children with elderly parents about how they would always bear their pains alone than bother their children with their own matters. This holds true for parents who can’t offer financial help to their struggling children, and can only help by praying for them to be safe.
