The Divorce Insurance Finale Week Recap

After deliberating on it, the couple from last week resolved to part ways. However, they consider it a happy ending and seem to be on better terms than when we first met them. So, all is well. Also, the zero divorce rate won’t be violated since the husband terminated the policy.

With the official launch date inching closer, our team are on their toes to ensure there are no problems. But a news article is released claiming that divorce insurance encourages people to get divorced. After racking their brains for a counteractive measure, Ki-jun has a lightbulb moment. The divorce insurance only encourages people to look back on their marriage. Afterward, they can decide whether to stay together or part ways and embark on a new journey. Luckily, it works out. And the divorce insurance passes the final review.

Celebrating their success, our team goes for a brief trip to the ocean after pulling several all-nighters to prepare for the official launch. Now that they have accomplished their mission, everyone should get ready to return to their respective teams. Na-rae gets a promotion, which is good news to her. But the thing is: she will be transferred to the Singapore branch.

Sharing the news with Jeon-man, Na-rae asks him to go with her. He doesn’t say much, but asks for some time to think. Before long, Jeon-man starts packing his things, willing to follow Na-rae anywhere. Not that he tells Na-rae his decision, but surprises her at the airport by showing up in the nick of time after she almost lost hope. Since they need their personal spaces, Na-rae and Jeon-man resolve to stay in separate houses. But that doesn’t matter as long as they are fine with it.

Ah-young and Woong-sik got their happy ending, too. Getting married might still be a big no-no for Ah-young, but who says they can’t date? We are glad they found a middle ground instead of one party sacrificing their beliefs for the other. Woong-sik has always been understanding of Ah-young and never judged her choice to stay alone. Which, in turn, made her fall for him.

As for our Ki-jun and Han-deul, they decide to undo the switch and go back to their places. Not that it matters since they keep dropping by each other’s places. (Just move in together already.) Picking up the unfinished knitting piece left by his sister, Ki-jun asks Han-deul to teach him and knits it into a jumper. It might not be perfect, but it reflects his sincerity and love for his sister. As we end our drama, Ki-jun and Han-deul are wearing the matching jumpers they knitted together and looking forward to staying together for the rest of their lives.

The Divorce Insurance Quick Series Recap

Wishing to spare people from going through the same agony he endured after getting divorced three times, an insurance specialist develops a special divorce insurance. Joining them on this journey is our underwriter heroine, who got divorced recently after experiencing a painful marriage, along with two more key players.

The Divorce Insurance Series Highlights and Musings

Going into the drama, its unique concept piqued our interest. But we didn’t know what exactly to expect from the genre. Luckily, it was more character-driven than an office drama full of complicated business jargon. It might not be to everyone’s liking. But the drama blended humor with heartfelt moments in a slow-paced narrative, gifting us a fun watch that might fit well with a lazy weekend.

Further elevated by the grounded portrayal of the ever-charming Lee Dong Wook, Ki-jun was an intriguing character in his own right, mainly because he never let his thrice-divorced status weigh him down and sustained his optimistic side despite everything. Having lost his sister, Ki-jun knew how tough it was to stay stuck in an unhappy marriage. So, he opted to end things well instead of staying miserable together.

It required a lot of courage, but Ki-jun didn’t let the past hold him back and fell in love with Han-deul. Their romance wasn’t about grand gestures but about supporting each other and helping each other heal from the scars they got from previous relationships. Their bond stemmed from mutual understanding and being honest with each other. Which made them the perfect fit for each other.

Instead of going through the tropey love triangle route, the drama paired Na-rae and Jeon-man together, gifting us a sweet secondary romance that had a distinct flavor from the main couple. Unlike the case with their ex-partners, Na-rae and Jeon-man were on the same wavelength. So, they could handle each other well. Also, it was refreshing to see Ki-jun give his blessings to his friend and his ex-ex-ex wife to date without having a speck of lingering feelings.

Despite its shortcomings, The Divorce Insurance was an enjoyable drama. It might not be up to everyone’s alley. Yet for the target audience, it serves as an entertaining watch, though it might not be the type to leave an everlasting impression.
