The Golden Spoon Episode 3 Highlights

Previously, using the magical golden spoon he bought, Lee Seung-cheon (Yook Sung Jae) successfully switches parents and becomes Hwang Tae-yong (Lee Jong Won).

“It sure was a good choice to swap parents.”

Giving a dose of his own medicine to Jang-gun, Seung-cheon pulled the trigger and caused the bully to get hospitalized.

He checks on Tae-yong and hears his parents again confronting the loan sharks demanding their money back.

Familiarizing himself with the posh and privileged life he wished for, Seung-cheon gets surprised when he accidentally stumbled on CEO Hwang’s will of not giving his empire to Tae-yong.

With that, he is determined to be on CEO Hwang’s good side. Fate favors him as his intention is showcased at his birthday party where he declared getting a little stock share by participating in the public auction of CEO Hwang’s biotech company.

Interestingly, Seung-cheon and Tae-yong have the same birthday. Through Ju-hee, the grandma who sold the golden spoon gave an important catch to his new rich life.

When they run on their original parents, their fates will reset back to the original. Urgently searching for Tae-yong, Seung-cheon was able to stop him from meeting CEO Hwang.

The Golden Spoon

“It’s just a piece of paper. I need someone who can protect my empire. But I think he is eligible enough.”

CEO Hwang and his wife talk about their son’s friend who played the piano like their son.

The CEO also appeases his wife about the will that he changed. He explains he needs someone capable to run the company and the stock gift from Seung-cheon really earned browny points for the possibility of him being reinstated as CEO Hwang’s heir.

Finding a way to help his birth parents Seung-cheon uses his butler hyung skills to subdue the evil landlord and make sure he does not cause trouble again for Lee family.

When Seung-cheon checks on Ju-hee at her part-time work, he thankfully was able to save her from an attacker who turns out to be her old dead best friend’s father who still blames Ju-hee for the death of her daughter.

Working to win CEO Hwang’s favor, Seung-cheon is found by the CEO in his study room. True to his deduction, Seung-cheon admits to seeng his will. He also declares working hard to be the rightful heir.

The next day, grandma’s letter that Seung-cheon lost finds its way inside his book. Just then, he receives a cryptic text message from an unknown cellphone number. The sender knows that he is not Hwang Tae-yong. At that exact moment, Tae-yong appears as they exchange gazes.

The Golden Spoon Episode 3 Musings

Habits and talents do not switch as revealed in the 3rd episode of The Golden Spoon.

Aside from the rule of not meeting the parents on the birthday of the people whose fates got switched, this episode also relays that Seung-cheon is not the only fate-switcher.

Hopefully, his choice does not lead her to what the miserable-looking woman searching for grandma is suffering.

With their new lives, we see how parts of their respective lives are actually what Seung-cheon and Tae-yong need. The former needs money and power while the latter craves parents’ support and affection.

Learning about CEO Hwang’s wife is not Tae-yong’s mother hints at another problem for Seung-cheon. Her asking for someone to come home suggests her ill intention to gain her husband’s fortune.

We can also see a love problem looming which will test Seung-cheon’s real and earnest wish. Learning Ju-hee likes his old self and seemingly feeling the same way poses a problem that will surely mature sooner. How far he’s willing to go with his new life shapes the next episodes of this series.

Can Seung-cheon handle the predicament of his identity known by someone?
