The Good Bad Mother Episodes 7 and 8 Highlights
Receiving the unfortunate news of her deteriorating health, Young-soon makes arrangements for Kang-ho.
However, another problem arises when Happy Farm was subjected to quarantine, and all the pigs were also killed because the nearby farm had a case of foot and mouth disease.
Chairman Song’s lackeys had closed the deal and bought Samsik’s family-owned cornfield. At the height of the government-initiated disposal of the pigs, they were able to retrieve a USB stick which they presented to their boss.
The latter disagrees with his minion’s suggestion of killing Kang-ho in case he will be a threat if he regains his memories.
When Mi-joo goes home to see her son Seo-jin crying out loud because he does not want to go to the women’s public bathhouse, she asked Kang-ho and Samsik to take care of Seo-jin.
She also sensed Young-soon had some sad thoughts about buying herbicide and she quickly took it from her.
“Are you going somewhere nice by yourself?”
After an enjoyable bathhouse bonding time, Young-soon brings Kang-ho to a medical facility. She tells him that he will live there to recuperate.
Before that, she has also assigned a lawyer to execute her will and testament and trained Kang-ho to protect his money and inheritance.
Alone in the house, Young-soon sets forth with her plan to end her life. But Kang-ho who escaped the facility used his mobile phone’s navigation to go back to Jouri village.
Seeing his mom on the brink of death, Kang-ho summons his strength to stand and preempt Young-soon’s initial plan. Feeling abandoned, he leaves the house and is comforted by Mi-joo.
She also tells Kang-ho that his mom would never abandon him. That there could be a reason for her action as well.
Confessing her sickness to Kang-ho, the mother and son make amends. They also work on his therapy.
“You were right my mom did not abandon me. So, there could be a reason why you were abandoned.”
The villagers plan to gift Young-soon with something to cheer her up after all the troubles she’s been through. They decide on a scooter for Kang-ho since they know pretty well that Young-soon likes doting on her son the most.
On the day they present the gift, the surprise they mean to give did not happen. Instead, the happy villagers get the surprise of seeing Kang-ho walk again.
Re-arranging her affairs once more since Kang-ho’s impressive development, Young-soon also teaches him all the things he needs to do to run the farm and live his life. She even had him practice how to receive condolences from guests.
After receiving a call from the security guard at Kang-ho’s old apartment, Young-soon got a letter written by Kang-ho. She feels something odd about it but Kang-ho can’t explain it either.
In one of their mom-and-son resting moments, Kang-ho points out their family picture and mentions a line that is in the letter. It gives Young-soon an idea, and her hunch was right as she sees an SD card inside their framed family photo.
The Good Bad Mother Episodes 7 and 8 Musings
The remaining three weeks of The Good Bad Mother is definitely not for viewers with frail heart.
It’s just hard to give up on Young-soon, though the series in a way is also preparing the viewers for that, along with Kang-ho.
We also received the closure in episode 8 of why Young-soon did not allow her son to attend picnics. She’s definitely forgiven.
Now that Young-soon has the chip card that would unleash an expectedly chaotic situation, it is safe to assume that Kang-ho’s memory return is also nearing.
We’ll be happy to take Mi-joo’s confirmation that her twins were also fathered by Kang-ho. The possibility of them living as a family is likely to happen.
Mi-joo’s brave pep talk to Samsik about the scary truth about marriage is a clear-cut definition worth keeping. Personal burdens should be fixed first before considering a commitment to marriage.
Hinted also this week is how Kang-ho made a post-arrangement for Oh Tae-soo’s secretary and child that was pictured he murdered.
Still heavy on its poignant moment, while we can pick up a couple or more life lessons – the promised healing moments are honestly being washed away by the despondent situations highlighted in the series.
Can Young-soon help her son claim justice against Oh Tae-soo?
Watch how Young-soon mends her relationship with her cherished son Kang-ho in The Good Bad Mother every Friday and Saturday on JTBC. International fans can watch the series on Netflix.
