The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract Episodes 3 and 4 Highlights

The more desperate our male lead wants to get rid of our trouble-making heroine, the more he gets entangled with her. Still, when she puts her mind to something, our time-traveling lady proves to be useful.

“Be my wife for just a month. Of course, only when I need you.”

After some back and forth, our fake couple sit down for the contractual marriage negotiations. Tae-ha has prepared a long list of things Yeon-woo isn’t allowed to do. And likewise, Yeon-woo has some conditions for him to abide by as well. Most importantly, he has to teach her about this “New Joseon.” A task that proves easier said than done, considering how clumsy Yeon-woo is.

“I know you think I am talking complete nonsense right now. But believe me. I guarantee you that Yoon-am didn’t paint this.”

Aside from taking care of our time-traveling lady, Tae-ha has a lot on his plate dealing with his nasty stepmother, Min Hye-sook. As a marriage gift, grandpa has Hye-sook turn over the preparations of a remarkable exhibition to Tae-ha. And as luck would have it, the most significant piece turns out to be fake.

To get back at Tae-ha for kicking her out of the house earlier and snatching the exhibition, Hye-sook has the curator keep mum about it. After all, the blame will be shifted on Tae-ha, the one in charge. But the joke is on her.

Luckily, Yeon-woo figures the painting is fake before it is too late. Tae-ha arrives just in time with the authentic painting, turning Hye-sook’s plot against her and getting in charge of yet another big event after he impresses everyone.

“For you, Mr. Swindler, I wanted to be the Jade Rabbit on the moon for once.”

After the exhibition, our leads have a peaceful time together. Yet, it lasts only briefly as Yeon-woo gets drunk and turns back into troublemaker mode. So, Tae-ha carries her home. Worse, she almost gets them electrocuted after messing with the sockets. Tae-ha rushes to save her, but they fall on each other. And she kisses him while drunk, something she will surely regret when she sobers up.

Except the next day, Yeon-woo has no recollection at all of the kiss, assuming she just headbutted Tae-ha while drunk like she usually does. And it is our male lead who spends the night trying to brush the kiss off as a collision and reciting the multiplication table to put himself to sleep.

“Is someone there? Cheon Myung, is that you?

Our fake couple’s next mission is to make it through Grandpa’s birthday, Hye-sook roped them into attending, without getting caught. The day almost goes smoothly without a hitch until Hye-sook springs a mini surprise on them. The real bride Tae-ha was supposed to marry shows up in the house. In an unexpected yet much-appreciated move, Tae-min saves the day, claiming she is his girlfriend. Which earns him a slap from Hye-sook and no thank-you words from Tae-ha.

On a lighter note, Yeon-woo is finally reunited with her dear friend Sa-wol. They both want to go home but don’t know how. The girls plan to meet in the backyard at midnight. But instead of Sa-wol showing up, Yeon-woo is lured to a strange tomb that belongs to ” the virtuous woman.”

And following her is Tae-ha, who comes to look for her, thinking she has gone missing again. We end this week’s episodes as they slide off a cliff. And it seems like Tae-ha might have regained the memories of his Joseon past life.

The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract Episodes 3 and 4 Musings

With everything seeming to repeat itself as in the past, I guess the tomb belongs to “Yeon-woo,” who supposedly took her own life after her husband’s sudden death. And seeing how cunning Hye-sook is, I won’t put it past her or, more accurately, her Joseon’s counterpart to have poisoned Tae-ha and then had Yeon-woo murdered and disguised it as a suicide.

The purpose behind the time travel might be to reveal the truth and get Hye-sook punished in both timelines. But I wonder what will happen to Yeon-woo after that. Will she return to where she originally belongs and live alone? Or will she remain with Tae-ha in the future? Despite his cold attitude, Yeon-woo is slowly opening up to Tae-ha. And though she argues he is nothing like her dead husband, she will eventually fall for him.

One character we can be curious about is Tae-min. His mother regards him as a mistake, and his grandpa wants him to step out of the picture. Not to mention the already tense relationship between him and Tae-ha. Which shows us that Tae-min’s playful boy attitude is just an act he puts up to hide his vulnerability.

Throughout his life, no one has genuinely cared for Tae-min. No wonder he got touched when Yeon-woo showed concern about his injured hand, something probably no one had done to him before. But why does it feel like a love triangle is brewing here, one that makes me uneasy?
