The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract Final Week Recap

With Grandpa out of the picture (He sustained a mental condition after getting hit by the pot.), the succession battle between Tae-ha and Hye-sook kicks off. The majority of the board is on Hye-sook’s side. So, gaining the chairwoman title is a piece of cake. Except, in an out-of-the-blue move, Hye-sook steps down and nominates Tae-ha as the next CEO.

Company matters settled, it is time for our leads to address the elephant in the room. Yeon-woo has to return to Joseon to save Tae-ha from his looming death. He protests against it for a while. But eventually, Tae-ha comes to accept Yeon-woo’s decision.

For their remaining time together, they decide to make the most of it and create as many splendid memories as they can. Even if they are apart, their time together will be kept dearly in their hearts.

With the last flower of the branch wilting, Yeon-woo opens her eyes in her old room, where her mother comes to wake her up. It is 10 days until the wedding. Which means Joseon Tae-ha can still be saved. Yeon-woo warns Tae-ha of his stepmother’s plans to poison him, getting him shocked. She doesn’t care if Tae-ha reports her, but he must check for the poison and take the antidote.

Despite Yeon-woo’s efforts, Tae-ha once again coughs up blood and dies on their wedding night. Still, she came prepared this time, getting Joseon Hye-sook captured for murdering her husband. The catch is: that there isn’t enough evidence to prove Hye-sook’s crimes.

Except, Tae-ha marches in, declaring himself as the evidence. He took only enough antidote to stay alive and faked the whole death thing to catch Hye-sook. The murder scheme behind them, Tae-ha tells Yeon-woo his plans to move out and asks her to be his wife. But the one Yeon-woo gave her heart to is modern-day Tae-ha. So, she can’t be with another man.

Well. If they can’t live as a married couple, what about being friends? Yeon-woo agrees with the idea. They spend their time taking strolls, fishing, and picking up mushrooms. Yeon-woo takes delight in teasing Tae-ha with tales about the new Joseon.

Unluckily, this happiness is short-lived. Tae-ha’s condition deteriorates, and he has only a little time left. He goes on one last picnic with Yeon-woo, wearing the clothes she made for him, and dies on her shoulder, leaving Yeon-woo heartbroken once again.

Meanwhile, modern-day Tae-ha keeps longing for the time he spent with Yeon-woo. His heart is now perfectly fine. He has stepped down from the CEO position, got a management specialist to lead the company, and spends his time waiting for Yeon-woo in the place where they first met.

Our leads’ earnest wish comes true, and they reunite in a quite peculiar way. (Water, be it a well or the ocean, might be declared as an official gate of time at this rate.) They hold a real wedding this time. And when we send them off, our leads are grinning from ear to ear, looking forward to spending the rest of their lives together.

The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract Series Quick Recap

Unwilling to stay stuck in her room all day, our heroine, Park Yeon-woo, climbs over the walls and moonlights as a seamstress. But when caught, she is forced to go through an arranged marriage. Yeon-woo’s husband dies on their wedding night. Then, she goes on a trip to the future to discover the secret behind his mysterious death, where she meets many familiar faces and achieves her dream of making clothes in her name.

The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract Series Highlights

A free-spirited and strong heroine

Since the beginning, Yeon-woo has been a likable character. And being played by the much-talented Lee Se Young elevated the character. Yeon-woo stayed true to herself all the time. Be it moonlighting as Madame Butterfly, attempting to run away when forced to marry, refusing to get abandoned on the wedding night, or holding her own in a strange place where she didn’t know anyone. We are proud of her for achieving her dream. And now she is back, we picture her becoming more successful and going places.

She treated Sa-wol as an equal, as a real friend, giving her the choice to stay behind with Mr. Hong and encouraging Sa-wol to pursue her happiness. Yeon-woo might not have been physically present at the wedding, but her presence was felt with the wedding hanbok she made for Sa-wol. If we could add something to the finale, it would be the girls’ tearful reunion, where they couldn’t be more excited to see each other again.

Initially, we feared getting into a love triangle involving Yeon-woo and the Tae brothers. Thankfully, we didn’t dive much into that territory. Still, no one can deny the positive influence Yeon-woo had on Tae-min. He is no longer an insecure person pretending to be a playboy but hurting inside. Also, the relationship between the brothers isn’t hostile anymore. It might be just baby steps, but they now get along much better than before.

The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract Series Musings

I like how the drama treated Joseon and modern-day Tae-ha as two different people till the end. (Bae In-hyuk did an incredible job playing both the main and second leads.) They might have much in common beyond sharing the same face and name. But the one Yeon-woo truly loved was this cold-hearted businessman whose life got turned upside down after meeting her.

We feel for Joseon Tae-ha since he genuinely loved Yeon-woo since their childhood encounter. And it makes me think about what could have been if those two were given a chance to be together without the poisoning scheme. Still, we can appreciate the ending much better than Yeon-woo being stuck in the past and her look-alike getting together with Tae-ha. Or worse, he remains alone forever.

How we wish we had spent more time with our leads after the reunion and maybe got some bromance between the Tae brothers instead of spending much time in Joseon. Yet it feels only right to give Joseon Tae-ha the proper send-off he deserves. Joseon grandpa being left unpunished till the end was a bit of a disappointment. But at least everyone now knows his true colors and how his greed brought the family to ruin.

Aside from the schemes and the manipulation, this drama was a delight. The cute love story between Sa-wol and Mr. Hong added to the sweetness of the drama. And we can definitely come back to re-watch the fun parts.
