Yet another friendship-inspiring episode, Thirty Nine conveyed the steadfast connection among the three friends in the story.
Notably, the love relationship between Mi-jo and Seon-woo is flourishing just as the connection between Joo-hee and Hyun-jun is settling well. Correspondingly, Chan-young and Ji-seok are bound to enter a situation-driven “living together”.
Previously, Chan-young drafts a bucket list focusing on her two friends. It seems Joo-hee’s mother knows Mi-jo’s birth mom but opted to keep it a secret.

Thirty Nine Episode 6 Musings
Everyone has been giving impressive portrayals to their characters in Thirty Nine. But we have to give it to Lee Mu Saeng for how he has suited up to his role as Jin-seok. His scenes are exquisitely done especially those emotional ones.
From a simple friendship story, the strength of this series has consistently kept magnified by the superb cast. The storytelling chronicles the unadulterated emotions of the characters in the story. By giving a reverse route of presenting the conflict first, it would cushion the expected agony.
Thankfully, Thirty Nine ensures layering humor generously to its narrative.
Ensuring spotlight moments for each character, the drama incorporates lessons that career people can relate to. Like how Joo-hee’s story was introduced in this episode. Her plight can resonate with people working in customer-facing roles that have to bear rude and unreasonable treatments from customers.
Liberating herself from a job she can no longer love, Joo-hee gave an inspiration of how “happiness is always a choice”.
Her conviction might appear rushed, but given how she is in a predicament where her best friend is suddenly dying, her choice makes sense. Opting for winning battles is not a sign of faintheartedness, it’s a sign of maturity.
In the remaining six episodes, we know we have to brace ourselves for inescapable heartbreaking moments. But the preview for episode 7 looks depressing.
Don’t miss the friendship and career lessons in Thirty Nine on Netflix every Wednesday and Thursday!
