Why Her Episode 13 Highlights
“I’ll get down on my knees a hundred times if we can catch those jerks.”
Director Baek begs down on his knees in front of Soo-jae to catch the suspects in his daughter’s incident. Soo-jae hears about how the Director also begged on his knees to Chairman Choi when he was still a prosecutor during the savings bank scandal 15 years ago.
With his involvement in introducing the illegal loan broker, Director Baek chose to persuade Soo-jae to give up on Kim Dong-gu’s case even though he is aware that his daughter was also harmed.
Baffled by the request, Soo-jae calls it ridiculous to catch the culprits together at present since the director kept silent for a long time.
“Everyone has regrets.”
Soo-jae is in disbelief for falling for Ju-wan, who has also taken part in harming Eun-seo and Na-jung.
Aware of each other’s secrets, Chan suggests to Soo-jae to call it even since they deceived each other.
Soo-jae lets Chan enter her building, and he discovers her board, which now included additional details from his board about his case.
Full of guilt, Soo-jae expresses her sincere apologies to Chan. They then proceed to talk about Eun-seo, daughter of Director Baek, who has also been harmed together with Na-jung 10 years ago.
“The law holds that it is better to have ten guilty persons escape than to have one innocent person suffer.”
Taking on the position of the justice minister, Director Baek resigns at Seojung university. In the mock trial he prepared, he invites Chairman Choi who sits as the presiding judge.
Mimicking the case of Na-jung 10 years ago, the mock trial examines the prosecution during the apprehension of the suspect.
Exchanged arguments of the defense and the prosecution get heated. However, in the end, Yoon-sang, the prosecutor examined in the defense, is found not guilty.
Frustrated with the results of the mock trial, Chan blocks the car of Chairman Choi. He announces his determination to catch the real culprit of Kim Dong-gu’s case, but Chairman Choi scoffs at him.
“Foolishness always leads to tragedy.”
Mr. Ha informs Chairman Choi of the demands of Han Gi-taek on the fulfillment of the promise made by the Chairman.
Responding to that, Chairman Choi orders him to wait quietly, telling him that Gi-taek will get his money when the time is right.
Determined to solve the death of his stepsister, Chan engages the services of the legal clinic.
Preparing for the possible retaliation of Chairman Choi who is now aware that Chan is Kim Dong-gu, Soo-jae orders the legal clinic team to protect Chan.
They leave comments in the article confirming the skeleton belongs to Na-jung, spreading naturally that Chan is Kim Dong-gu.
Moreover, they try to subtly move the public opinion in the comment section towards the belief that the real culprits should be caught.
“How much longer will you stay as a coward?”
Despite bringing all information gathered from the incident, Soo-jae tells Yoon Se-pil that they are not on the same side. They are only sharing the same goal, and Director Baek should pay the price for being a coward.
Chairman Han and Assemblyman Lee are hit by the news about the preferential treatment received by Hansu group. In addition to that, suspicions arise due to the close period of No Byung-chul’s suicide and his supposed nearing parole.
News also on Na-jung’s skeleton being confirmed shake up Chairman Choi as it impacts the suspicions on No Byung-chul’s suicide.
A memorial is held for Na-jung, and Ji Soon-ok reconciles with Chan.
Stepping forward, Soo-jae reveals to Chairman Choi about Eun-seo, which he does not know about. Reassured that Soo-jae can’t do anything, especially with Ju-wan, he tells her that Jae-yi is her daughter.
Why Her Episode 13 Musings
As much as Director Baek wants to write the wrongs of the past, he is still detestable since he took part in delaying justice for Na-jung, as well as his daughter, Eun-seo.
During the mock trial, everyone was immersed in their own roles. Yoon-sang who was sitting in the defense as the prosecutor being examined carries a brazen attitude like the real prosecutor in Kim Dong-gu’s case.
Concluding that Yoon-sang, the prosecutor, is not guilty in the mock trial, Se-ryun and Kang-ja modeled a healthy argument although heated.
In the end, they both agree that the judgment should at least be fined or given some kind of punishment to the prosecutor.
Protecting Chan, the legal clinic team makes use of the comment section in a creative way.
Chairman Choi’s revelation at the end may shake up Soo-jae for a while, but this would probably not be a roadblock to her pursuit of justice.
