With their relationship getting warmer, Young-do and Da-jung became more comfortable in the 5th episode of You are my Spring.
When Young-do saw Ian Chase on the crime scene, he thought that Ian looked very similar to Choi Jung-Min. Meanwhile, Young-do and Da-Jung’s fate kept entwining.

You are my Spring Episode 5 Key Moments
“I got curious as to what happened. I want to know what happened while I was away, why he did those things, or if it’s really true.”
In the last episode, Young-do saw Ian Chase in the crime scene where Jung-Min took his life. It was the first time he saw Ian and thinks that he looks very identical to Jung-Min.
Ian Chase also visits the police station to know the whereabouts of Jung-Min. Even though he didn’t mention his relationship with him, detective Park-Ho (Yoon Ji On) believes that he is the twin brother of Jung-Min.
“Want to eat ramyeon?”
Meanwhile, Young-do gives a warm cup of coffee to Da-jung and asks her if she wanted to eat ramyeon. The question makes Da-jung laugh and she teases him that he was a flirt like everybody says.
“I can’t force to love someone just to make other people happy.”
These were the words that Patrick (Park Sang Nam) said to his manager when he was discouraged to date Ga-Young. He confessed to Ga-young and said that he loves her.
“Thanks for the art therapy session, thanks to you, the kid, and I…”
Da-Jung video chats with Young-do and asks him about the drawing of a kid that was staying at their hotel. Young-do answers her, and this leaves Da-jung in awe of how Young-do accurately analyzed the kids’ drawing.
In the end, Da-jung got close to the kid, and she even receives flowers from the kid.
“You said you went there with a sweet lady. Obviously, I’m not the sweet type. You must have gone there with another girl.”
Da-jung hears the radio station where Young-do will be guesting and gets intrigued about the lady who went with him in the Gangneung. Since one of Young-do’s friends is teasing him on going on a date with Da-jung, he relays a message with Young-do’s name on the live radio.
Young-do requests the song “The Butterfly Flew,” because he remembered that Da-jung was humming it while they were walking previously.
“You’re carrying bags. Let me carry this to your house. Give them to me, I’ll carry them.”
Da-jung’s mom gives a gift to Young-do, and in return, Young-do buys a pink helmet for her. Da-jung sees him fitting the helmet and flashes a smile.
While walking, Da-jung asks Young-do if he wants to grab ramyeon. They had again a meaningful conversation but now shared with peals of laughter.
“That night in late spring. The night crazy spring snow fell. With the crazy weather as an excuse, some spread their wounded wings again. And some fluttered their wings that had been folded for a very long time, and the butterflies flew.”
Reminiscing about Young-do’s school, he talks about his favorite flower and said that it doesn’t need to bloom at the same time as the other flowers and Da-jung carefully listens to him.
Ending the episode, Young-do, and Da-jung go separately to their homes. Suddenly the snow fell, and Young-do comes rushing towards Da-jung with a meaningful expression.
You are my Spring Episode 5 Musings
Just like the recent episode, the fifth episode of You Are My Spring is a light one. However, viewers are expected to be more intrigued about Ian Chase and his relationship with Jung-Min, especially when a flashback scene unveiled they are related.
I also love how Young-do respects Da-jung. Even though he figured out his feelings early, it’s obvious that he wanted to take things slow and did not push himself eagerly to her.
What I like the most in the episode is when they eat ramyeon comfortably while talking about their experiences. I also love how Young-do pays attention to Da-jung which further proves how he cares for her.
“Sharing a bowl of ramyeon” is deemed synonymous with the stage when a man and a woman moves to a more meaningful connection. This is based on a Korean movie line (One Fine Spring Day) that has since become a favorite reference in pop culture.
Thus, the reference being used in this episode suggests the love progression bound to happen between the main leads.
Let’s look forward to what would Young-do say to Da-jung and I hope that he would say his true feelings to Da-jung.
Their chemistry never failed to amaze me and I’m anticipating the drama would offer a new taste to its viewers.
