Bad Buddy Episode 4 Key Moments

“What? You two are pretending not to know each other?”

To motivate their fellow architecture and engineering students, Pat and Pran devise a plan. As they cannot work together because they will all cause arguments, and because they cannot work apart because they want to hold each other accountable, they develop a fake argument between the students where they each start taunting each other over how much work they’ve been putting in. The ruse works, as the architecture and engineering students, start desperately trying to one-up each other.

When the bus stop is complete, a journalism student, Ink, comes to write a piece about the new bus stop. However, it turns out that she is a student who used to be in the same class as Pat and Pran. The pair, who are desperately trying to keep their friendship separate from their fellow classmates, intervene. Pat takes Ink aside to explain the situation to her. Ink confirms she will keep their secret, but only under one condition.

“She’s cute, so I thought I should seize the chance.”

The engineering students go to practice for a rugby match coming up between themselves and the architecture students. The game is traditionally held annually between the warring faculties. At the training session, Pat and Korn continue arguing with one another about whether Pat has developed a crush on Ink.

After his rugby practice, Pat bumps into Pran, who is searching for a pair of earphones he has dropped in the grass. The two begin to argue as they keep bumping into one another. Pat then accidentally steps on Pran’s earphone, breaking it. He apologizes, but a visibly upset Pran says that the two of them should not be seen together.

Later that night, Pat comes knocking on Pran’s door. He brings along with him the gift of new earphones, which Pran attempts to decline to take. Pat mentions that he needs them for his new song for the upcoming singing competition.

Pat invites himself in, much to Pran’s chagrin. Pran – the more Type A of the pairing – tries to get Pat to leave, as he has just come straight from rugby practice, and has not had the chance to shower.

The next day, Pran’s friend Wai notices the new earphones, which Pran pushes off as just having lost his old ones. Pat turns up to class just in time to be taken on the roll call, before suddenly disappearing before class has even begun. After the class has finished, Pran notices Pat in a cafe with Ink, and a look of jealousy and sadness comes over him.

“I’m his friend. So is that guy right there.”

In a flashback to their days in high school, Pran’s budding crush on Pat leads to him buying two milk lattes, before he noticed Pat flirting with Ink in the club room. Coming back into the present day, those same thoughts are coming to Pran now. He decides to leave before either of the two of them notices him.

At the bus stop, Professor Pinchal has come over to check on the progress. As Wai goes over the architectural designs with him, Pran decides to ask Korn where his friend Pat is. Korn lies, saying that Pat’s family called and needed him to visit.

Pat is, in fact, being used as a model for photography by Ink, as part of her studies in the Faculty of Arts. As Ink fixes Pat’s hair, his expression becomes that of someone slightly embarrassed. They are interrupted as Pat’s sister, Pa, arrives. Ink offers to photograph Pa for some experience as well.

Pran notices when Ink uploads an image of Pat, where she mentions on her post that she thanks the “hot guy from engineering”. Pran becomes visibly mad.

“Ink, I just realised I have to do something.”

As the rest of the team at the modeling shoot leave, Pat lets her brother know that she’s leaving to give him room to make a move with Ink. She takes a few shirts with her as she leaves with a knowing nod.

At the bar, Pran looks after the shoulder he injured during his rugby practice. Wai asks him to spare some time to rehearse for the upcoming singing competition. Just then, Pat and Ink arrive for dinner. As Ink calls Pran to her attention, Pran mentions that he was just here to visit a friend and was just about to leave. However, Ink tells him to sit down with them, claiming that if anybody were to see them, they could claim they were just discussing the bus stop.

Pran’s memories flashback to their time back in high school, where he oversees Ink gifting Pat a bracelet he is still currently wearing. Suddenly coming back to reality, Pran claims he has to leave for something he forgot. He apologizes to Ink, and takes his leave. Pat watches on in confusion as Pran leaves.

“Roll up your sleeve.”

Back at the dormitory, Pran finds Pat knocking on his door. A dejected Pran opens the door, as his friend and neighbor delivers him some fried chicken. Pran tells him he can keep the chicken, and goes to close the door. However, he reaches for his shoulder, which is still in pain.

Pat asks what the issue is with his shoulder, and Pran admits that it came from his rugby practice. Pat asks if he applied a remedy to it, and then goes to get some for him. Pran rolls his sleeve up, revealing a massive bruise. Pat then begins to rub the remedy in.

Pat tells Pran to be careful, as they have their rugby match in just two days. Pran jokes that if he weren’t to play it would be beneficial for Pat. But Pat states that the game simply wouldn’t be worth playing if Pran weren’t taking part.

An embarrassed Pran rolls down his sleeve and asks Pat to leave. When Pat asks for some makeup remover, Pran confronts him about taking part in Ink’s photoshoot, and that by posting it on his Instagram page he was essentially telling the world about it. When Pran states that Pat is using too much, he instead takes over wiping his face clean.

An overly confident Pat talks about how attractive he looks, as Pran asks whether he could pay him to be less confident in himself, before staring at his friend with almost a look of lust within his eyes.

Pran sends Pat home, and Pat claims to have locked his keys inside his apartment and asks to spend the night.

“What the hell has gotten into you, Pat?”

Two days later, at the annual rugby match between the faculties of architecture and engineering, Pat and Pran are playfully fighting with each other in the viewing stands. Ink comes over, with her camera, and mentions that she didn’t get a shot of their moment together. As Pat leaves, he looks back over him, but he is unaware as to whether he is looking back at Ink or Pran.

During the rugby game, Pran’s shoulder becomes seriously injured during a tackle from Korn. Pat goes to assist Pran, but is interrupted by Wai before he has the opportunity.

During the half-time portion of the game, Ink goes to Pran to see how he’s doing. While talking to him, she gifts him a bracelet matching the one she gave to Pat. She mentions that she wished she had had the opportunity to gift it to him back in tenth grade. Unfortunately, Pran moved away before she had the opportunity.

Pran asks Ink if she likes Pat, and she defends herself. She mentions that she likes Pat in the same way that she likes Pran – as a friend. Ink puts the bracelet on Pran, before joking about the cost. In the background, Pat oversees the entire encounter.

“We will see if you can find someone half as good as me.”

Back in the dormitories, Pat arrives at Pran’s door once again, this time bringing along with him some medicine for him. Pat has, once again, forgotten his dorm room key. Unfortunately, this time, Pa is not answering her phone, and he is unable to get in.

Pran offers his dormitory as a shelter for the night. Pat sets up on the floor beside the bed for the night, making a few jokes before they head to sleep. Later, however, the both of them are still up. Pat asks Pran if he received a bracelet from Ink as well.

Both of the boys admit that they have a question to ask each other. Pran tells Pat to ask first, and he asks if Pran likes Ink. Pran asks the same question in return. They decide to both answer on the count of three. Pat admits that he does have feelings for Ink, while Pran says that he doesn’t. The truthfulness of his answer is uncertain at this time, though he may be lying.

Pat mentions that this is a relief for him, and Pran asks if he has yet confessed his feelings. Pat admits that he hasn’t, and asks Pran if he thinks Ink likes him. Pat asks Pran if he would like him if he were her, and Pran asks what would be to like. Pat mentions that he was his drummer in their band, he stopped Pran from being beaten up by Korn, he kept his guitar from being eaten by termites and helped him get his sponsorship.

Pran has flashbacks to many of these moments, including when Pat made him the handsome pick and when he pretended to be his girlfriend with the bus stop planning. Pran denies that he likes Pat, going even so far as to say that he would hate him, and Pat expresses his self-confidence in stating that he loves himself.

As Pat falls asleep, Pran looks lovingly down at him.

Bad Buddy

Bad Buddy Episode 4 Musings

In this episode of Bad Buddy, we get a good look at the relationships between many of the main characters. This includes how each of the boys has developed a crush on Ink. It also features Ink’s friendships with both Pat and Pran. And, on the more interesting note, Pran’s deep and confused emotions regarding his growing feelings for his friend.

Hopefully, the introduction of Ink as a character – and not just as a potential love interest, but also as a figure from the boys’ past – might help to move the growing and budding relationship between the two male leads move forward at some point. However, Pat’s feelings for Pran seem to be less intense and less romantic. Whereas Pran’s feelings for Pat appear to confuse him, and make him feel as though there is something more there than friendship.

But even if Pat and Pran can be open not just with their friendship but also with their feelings for each other, they have other issues to attend to. Korn has developed a specific hatred for Pran, whereas Wai seems to have developed that same hated for Pat. And the annual rugby match between the architecture and engineering faculties does not seem to have done anything to calm the tensions between them.

Don’t miss each week as we recap the newest episode of Bad Buddy after they air.
