A grand historical romance drama is confirmed by MBC which will star prolific actor Namgoong Min and talented actress Ahn Eun Jin.
연인 Lovers (LT) depicts the romance of a lover in the backdrop of Qing invasion of Joseon. It follows stories of the people who cultivated hope in times of hardship.
The drama reunites Namgoong Min with Director Kim Sung Yong with whom he worked with in the series The Veil. Penning the script is writer Hwang Jin Young who wrote Rebel: The Thief Who Stole The People and The King’s Daughter, Soo Baek-hyang.
Namgoong Min portrays Lee Jang-hyun a complex character with a natural playfulness. But inside, he has darkness not revealed to anyone.
Always showing perfect character immersion regardless of the genre with solid acting skills, Nam is recognized as one of the best actors in Korea. Previously, he worked in the drama One Dollar Lawyer. His other famed portrayals include Stove League, Doctor Prisoner and Good Manager.
Playing the female lead Yu Gil-chae is Ahn Eun Jin. Gil-chae is a well-mannered lady from a prestigious family. She is a snobbish and arrogant person who believes that she is the center of the world and that she is God’s gift to men. But she gradually matured as she experienced the suffering of war and came to truly fall in love with a man.
An actress who shines with her own color no matter what work or character she meets, Ahn Eun Jin challenges her first historical series. Her notable roles include Only One Person, Hospital Playlist and More Than Friends.
MBC’s most anticipated work, Lovers, is scheduled to air in the second half of 2023.
