I am all set to finish recapping and reviewing You Complete Me in the next five days. Taking a four-episode recap spree for the series seems the right choice because it gives me better insights of where the story wants to go.

“Compensation is nothing compared to company shares.”
To convince the hesitating Nana, Lin Wo suggests utilizing an angle in the interview she was offering her to take on. By capitalizing on how Dinghe is as a company which will never push their employees to suicide, Nana finally agrees.
Lin Wo’s plan to utilize viral news in raising awareness on financial company’s current workload was a success. It cleared Director Wan’s predicament hitting Most Sky specifically Director Sun. He calls Gao Shan to discuss the repercussions of the sympathy card nicely played by Director Wan’s camp.
Ordering him to organize a press conference and invite Mrs. Wan, Director Sun is left no choice but to compensate making Gao Shan inwardly happy.
At the press conference, Director Sun apologizes for the misgivings of Most Sky in taking care of its employee. Mrs. Wan also made sure that her husband will be cleared of her husband’s reputation marred by the company.
Seeing Gao Shan exiting the room, Lin Wo follows him to confirm all the help she got from him. Admitting the guilt he felt for partly pushing Director Wan to the edge, Lin Wo advises him not to pretend all the time that he is callous and bad person.
“If you want to apologize, treat me to dinner. I’ll choose the time and place.”
Back in their chummy state, Lin Wo apologizes to Gao Shan, but the latter demands a dinner of his choice to accept it. She beamingly agrees, but her smile fades fast getting a call from Deng Li to head back to the office because of a problem.
Over at Most Sky, Gao Shan and Su Yuan also make amends. They also agree to make a move to Director Sun.
Left with no choice, Lin Wo decides to sell Fangda to Mr. Zhou and Vivian. Yaofeng who tagged along saw Gao Shan’s message and intentionally caused trouble to Lin Wo and Nana. Knowing Nana has a crush on Gao Shan, he looks forward to the ruckus he’s going to brew.
However, the apology date took a turn when Su Yuan arrived from the tip of his minion that his Nana appears to be on a date. The prepared flower bouquet of Yaofeng made Su Yuan felt betrayed just as Lin Wo who got trapped in the elevator arrived.
Straightforward Nana confronts Lin Wo if she is suppressing her emotions to Gao Shan in consideration of their friendship. Before she can reply though, the culprit was discovered by Su Yuan minions and cleared the situation.
“It seems you have experienced all the embarrassing moments of my life. And I’m still not used to it.”
Gao Shan drives Lin Wo home who keeps sulking at how he has witnessed almost all of her embarrassing moments.
Back at the restaurant, Nana ponders on Gao Shan’s reason of why he can’t date her. She is unable to deny the truth that indeed they are cut from the same cloth.
Needing a drink and a sight of a fountain, Lin Wo and Gao Shan go to where she had her birthday. Unfortunately the place us close so he took her to an impressive fountain which is special to his parents.
Wishing for her own success, Lin Wo made a plea to and join Gao Shan in shouting upon realizing that the place is a screaming fountain.
Gao Shan drove Lin Wo home and when they arrive to her place she thanks him for making her feel better. Bringing up her selling of Fangda, she explained her reasons.
Reassuring her that she is great with her job, Gao Shan uses the opportunity to ask if she can answer Nana’s question earlier. But Lin Wo’s father arrived so she was not able to respond.
Delivering a bad news, Lin Wo is made aware that she will be assisting her father’s rumored woman Zheng Wanying whom she loathes. She also refuses to forgive him for what happened to her mom and tells him to ask forgiveness to her mom.
Meanwhile, Gao Shan chides himself for entertaining romance when he should be focusing on bringing down Qin Shengsheng.
“About Gao Shan, although you are at an advantage right now, I won’t back down.”
Nana figures Lin Wo’s sour mood was courtesy of her father. They also chat about the good news of Director Wan waking up. Openly acknowledging Lin Wo is at an advantage with Gao Shan, Nana still suavely vows of not backing down.
The next day, the four visit Director Wan who thanked them for the help they extended. He also reveals his plans to go back to his hometown and leave Most Sky for good. Opting not to pursue a payback, he tells them that the experience taught him to be where he should be – to his family.
Director Wan asks to quietly speaks with Gao Shan to tell him not to mess up with Director Li to whatever end game he is planning. He worries that he will be someone like him.
Gao Shan responds that he won’t let that happen since he does not have a way back. Director Wan concedes and leaves meaningful words of how sometimes hearing or seeing something means it’s the truth.
“Qin Shengsheng, I will watch you collapse.”
Director Sun learns about the monetary help Gao Shan extended to Director Wan and took it as lying to him. Hence, he devises a way to spite his stubborn junior by merging his former team to Director Wan’s. However, he pushed Gao Shan to a new job position way below of his Wall Street upbringing.
Dismissing the lame move of Director Sun, Gao Shan is even more fired up to the brewing revenge he plans for Qin Shengsheng who is coincidentally Lin Wo’s estranged father.
Lin Wo and Dengli officially say goodbye to Fangda in wistful memories. The next day, Lin Wo joins his father’s company Dalong Group as promised to the money she borrowed from her father. She is tasked to coordinate with the team from Most Sky with an important company acquisition project for Dalong Group.
Gao Shan learns about the partnership with Dalong through Su Yuan who will be part of the special team. He also learns that Lin Wo will be representing Dalong Group when she visited the document printing office to have some paper works get printed.
Choosing not to reveal her real connection to Dalong, Gao Shan asks Lin Wo a favor. That is to ensure Su Yuan gets to be in the team, so he can choose his team member and drag Gao Shan to it.
“I’m the key person of this project. I can’t be absent”
With Lin Wo’s retail industry knowledge, she willingly helps Su Yuan and Gao Shan with their proposal. Surprised when Gao Shan shoved her hand away just as she was about to get the broken watch in his drawer, he explained it used to be from his dead father. He also chose not to repair it to be reminded that the past can never be fixed.
Having another tinnitus attack, Lin Wo helps to aid it by massaging his ear. Opening up her heart to him, she shared how when her mom died, she was not able to contact his father because he was on a trip with another woman.
In that helpless situation, she tried calling her father to no avail. She tells him how she figured out his ear ringing problems is because she also had it before. While fixing a coffee for Lin Wo, he heard her mumble about her offer to listen to him if he needs someone to talk to in the future.
Reminding himself to stay away from the growing attraction with her, his body moves otherwise and finds himself volunteering to become her human pillow for her nap.
Su Yuan arrives after a verbal spat with Sun Li’s evil right hand and praises how genius his friend for drafting a proposal with one hand while holding the sleeping Lin Wo.
“Can you guys stop communicating with eyes and think about me?”
Well-rested, Lin Wo wakes up to the sight of Gao Shan’s handsome face and smile faintly. Su Yuan saw it and tease her of her unladylike sleeping habits which Gao Shan agrees witnessing as well.
Their proposal is almost done. Unknown to them shrewd Dufei discovered Gao Shan’s help. When it was declared that there’s no fire, Lin Wo and Gao Shan deduce a diversion was created and rush to where their proposal is openly accessible.
As expected, the proposal was stolen and presented with Wang Zhenying. However, the thief obviously does not know the proposal he stole was unable to answer a question raised by Lin Wo. That ultimately kicked Dufei in the team and another round of proposal was organized.
The three convene at a nearby cafe and Lin Wo was praised by the two investors for her foresight. Su Yuan and Gao Shan wonder how she’s so familiar with Dalong Group, but she still refuses to confess her real identity.
Evading the topic, she accidentally uses Gao Shan’s fork as he stares at her being sloppy eater. Sparks fly when Gao Shan wipes the icing on Lin Wo’s lips. Su Yuan who is enjoying the entrancing moment between the two tells them to behave because he’s still there.
“If you hadn’t courted the daughter of Dalong’s boss, I wouldn’t have been defeated by you.”
Heading back to the office, Zhenying intrudes the conversation of the three friends. Trying to speak up for Lin Wo, Zhenying denies reasons from both Su Yuan and Gao Shan. Lin Wo appeals to Zhenying on the grounds that he know how cunning Sun Li is and how capable Gao Shan is as well. But she dismisses it emphasizing she does not have say to it since both companies are to decide on the project.
All the while, Lin Wo holds Gao Shan’s hand making his heart and logic in state of confusion. Just as he aims to confess what he feels, Nana arrives interrupting the moment. Nana sees her best friend’s enemy and before she can spill her secret heiress identity, Lin Wo drags her out.
The two men approach them and ask about what they were chatting about. Getting an approval to reveal her secret from Nana, they were interrupted by the raging Dufei who can’t blame himself for being evil so he wants to pin it on Gao Shan.
Taunting his success is because of his involvement to Dalong Group’s daughters boss, Gao Shan realizes who Lin Wo really is. Getting the shock of his life, Gao Shan tries to process the idea of falling in love with the daughter of the man he hates to the bone.
“I’ve been used to living in my own world. Even though it’s cold and dark, at least it’s safe.”
With his new knowledge about his enemy’s daughter, Gao Shan changes his move. When he finally picked up Lin Wo’s phone call, he tells her that he will be taking her out.
They drive somewhere to talk and Lin Wo explains her estranged relationship with her father. She expresses not wanting to do with him anymore which is not aligning to Gao Shan’s plan of using her to hurt Qing Shengsheng.
Later, Gao Shan meets his investigator friend Siyang for the details he needs about Lin Wo. Armed with information about Lin Wo, he readies to make his vengeance plan move.
“it’s a game of chance. I’ve thought of the worst possible scenario. It’s nothing much. I can just quit at worse.”
Su Yuan reports to Lin Wo over the phone about Gao Shan getting an earful from Sun Li. That put her to another verbal spat with Wang Zhenying.
Lin Wo meets Gao Shan to apologize for the trouble she caused. Getting a quick bite in the convenience store, Gao Shan narrates how he mastered eating cup noodles when he was living abroad. With the money he saved from frugal living, he gambled on investing and became rich.
Qin Shengsheng drop by at the office to check on his daughter and converses to Zhenying if her plan to tie Lin Wo to the company is foolproof. She assures him that everything is good. When her stomach acted up, she was helped by Qin Shengsheng just in time for the show Gao Shan prepared.
Letting Lin Wo know of his father’s involvement to Fangda, she almost rush to fight with her father if not for Gao Shan’s advice to utilize her resources and the time she spends at Dalong. He promises to help her, just as she will be helping him with the Yijia Merger and Acquisition project of Most Sky.
Appointing himself as her coach, he pulls her in to his embrace so she can be sad for a few minutes. Stopping the car of her father, Lin Wo asks her father to let her be in charge of Yijia M&A.
“Young man, do you want to play with me?”
Through Gao Shan’s lead, Lin Wo gets her father to agree to her request. That left Sun Li without a choice but send Su Yuan and Gao Shan to work with Dalong Group on the project.
Su Yuan go ahead to meet Lin Wo and Nana while Gao Shan was fetched by Qin Shengsheng for a quick wine and chat. He warns Gao Shan not to use Lin Wo as a shield. Hinting on how Dalong Group has survived with shady business in the past, Qin Shengsheng acknowledged that fact. He cites that despite the numerous desperate situations and hard choices, he emerged as a winner.
Gao Shan asked if he kicked the losers to the cliff to face death and gets a response that rules are there to be followed. He taunts Gao Shan if he wants to play with him, but the young man just responded with a sigh.
Refusing to answer Lin Wo’s call, Gao Shan heads to where she is. In front of Nana and Su Yuan, he kisses her passionately. He confesses liking her unaware that she just admitted to Nana that she likes Gao Shan.
With a lot going on, Lin Wo pleads Gao Shan to give her time to sort things out. She agrees to be sent home so she can talk to Nana.
You Complete Me Episodes 9 – 12 Musings
Gao Shan’s pain inevitably will spin the focal conflict of this series. How far he would go for his revenge plan, let’s hope won’t ultimately put Lin Wo in pain as well.
We also learned about the contrasting relationships our love pairing has with their fathers. Lin Wo despises her father to the hilt while Gao Shan loves his deceased father at the cause of self-destructing him.
Like what I mentioned in my early recaps, I am continuously engrossed in the development of the featured careers in the story. Albeit workplace drama has a high rate of dragging the story, it still has hooked my interest. Given the series’ apparent trajectory of going in and out of various business dealings from corporate employment issues to merger and acquisitions, I hope it keeps its stable mood.
Lin Wo’s Strained Relationship With Her Father
Although suggested through Lin Wo’s perspective the cause of her sour connection to her father, its clearer picture is expected to be traversed on. That would help us support Lin Wo to hate Wang Zhenying if she is truly a contributor of Lin Wo’s misery in the past.
Yet to confront the reality that she will be Gao Shan’s chip card to his revenge plan, her tenacity to withstand and bounce back from the imminent trouble is also something to look forward to.
Struggling to live her own life away from her influential father, she struggled on her first business venture. Settling to a new job at her father’s company, she chose to follow Gao Shan’s advice of following a plan by understanding her opponents.
Gao Shan’s End Game
Consumed to his lifetime goal of bringing justice to his father’s death, Gao Shan has a creepy board full of plans on how he can bring down Qin Shengsheng. Given with a luck and a curse of knowing the best weapon to use, he confronts the idea that he is bound to hurt the woman with whom he has grown fond with.
How Gao Shan will overpower the genuine affection he has for Lin Wo to proceed as planned, adds to the immersing point of this series. Redeeming his character is also an anticipated moment in the series.
Su Yuan’s Pursuit of Nana
Thankfully, with the lead love pairings already complicated romance in the horizon, at least the secondary love story is as charming as it is delightful. Will Nana concede and see Su Yuan’s sincere intention? Let’s hope, she does.
