Gao Shan and Lin Wo got entangled when both their projects almost caused a life in You Complete Me.
Slowly but surely creating connection, You Complete Me episodes 5 and 6 saw Lin Wo and Gao Shan subconsciously trusting and protecting each other.
While hints of Gao Shan’s unhappy memories were unraveled, Lin Wo’s true identity was also hinted to be extraordinary.

“Gao Shan, you really are my kryptonite!”
Operation hunt Wan Jiahe ensues for Lin Wo and Deng Li. Overhearing a man talking to Director Wan inside the men’s rest room, Lin Wo zooms in unaware that the man mistook Gao Shan as the director.
Blurting the pitch meant for Director Wan, Gao Shan listens from inside the cubicle. After her talk, Gao Shan emerged from the cubicle and claps his hands. Lin Wo tries her way out of the situation, but the cunning Gao Shan traps her inside the rest room and reported her as well.
Through Deng Li’s negotiation gift, they were let go of the hotel staff not knowing that Nana used their car to help Gao Shan. Later, when they meet Nana, they cutely bicker but make up with Nana’s claim that they are even for looking like a panda in front of Gao Shan.
“Let’s visit the boxing gym sometime. Let’s have some friendly fights sometime.”
Receiving an urgent call about his daughter getting hospitalized, Director Wan rushes to the hospital with Gao Shan and Nana’s help. Feeling stressed Director Wan gropes for his pill. Thankfully, his daughter was brought in time and safely completed the surgery.
Director Wan meets his juniors and tells Gao Shan that they can box again sometime. Favoring Gao Shan, who is in fact cutting a deal with Sun Li, he was asked to help in the Letian project.
“I thought your life was all about work that you had no time for sentiments.”
Back in the office, Director Wan pulls goes for an over time preparing for his important project. Gao Shan offers his help as he brought in a cup of coffee.
After fixing the issue, they head to the 10th floor. Director Wan reveals it to be his comfort place and shares his woes and aspirations in the company springs for his desire to give a better life to his family.
Tipping Lin Wo to get a chance to talk to Manager Wan for her job proposal, they meet again at the boxing gym. There Gao Shan relays that Director Wan stays at Most Sky because his sentiments. Hinting to find his weakness, he encouraged her to do it in one go.
Using her daughter’s acceptance to an elite school where Lin Wo has a contact, Manager Wan agreed to meet the manager which Fangda got their recent project on.
“So you ask me to spy with you so I can’t ruin your work?”
Reaping the fruit of her hard work, Lin Wo secretly monitors Director Wan’s talk with her contact from Jinshi. She also dragged Gao Shan with her. Realizing it was a preemptive measure, Gao Shan was impressed on her cunning ability.
But Lin Wo corrects her and thinks that he is actually nice. His front might be called, but he has helped her a lot proving he’s a warm person inside. Warning her not to get to know him less she will regret it, Lin Wo responds that she’s grateful for him even if he’s hiding something.
“It’s obvious that one of us is working with them.”
The next day, Manager Wan’s team is at lost because of his sudden disappearance. His project with Letian was also secured by Jinshi group by a faint margin of 1% suggesting someone leaked their bid information.
Adding to that, Director Wan’s meeting with Jingshi group was also exposed putting him on a bad light. Hurrying to meet Lin Wo who might be implicated by the situation, they go together to look for Director Wan.
They find him standing on a ledge and was unable to stop him from jumping. If not for the parasol from a cafe, he could have died instantly.
“Can you take a break? You look awful right now!”
Amidst the chaos, Gao Shan loses himself momentarily after being reminded of his past memory. When he calmed down, he goes straight to the hospital. Worried Lin Wo who sensed he is not feeling well expressed her woes, but he ignores it.
He calls someone from the office to fetch Manager Wan’s family and calls Su Yuan to use his connection to stop the viral spread of photos. However, Su Yuan is already in the hospital and tips him that the rest are with him which might cause problem to Lin Wo.
Upset that he is ignoring his health, Lin Wo takes his phone and tells him to take a break. Matching her anger, Gao Shan rants how her controlling attitude has been causing problem. Bluntly adding how the suicide was also caused by her, Lin Wo can’t retort to his request of not meddling on other people’s lives and to leave.
“You can’t send me away. I said I’d find the truth.”
Just as he was about to see her out, his officemates arrive and recognized her. Protecting Lin Wo with his body, he leads her out of the hospital.
Understanding his sincere protection to her, Lin Wo insists on finding the truth not just for Director Wan, but for her as well. She suggests going with her to check the CCTV at Fangda and probe about Mr. Zhou’s involvement.
When they visit Jingshi Group, they learn that the client who went to Fangda is an impostor aggravating Lin Wo’s situation. Looking back on his conversation with Sun Li, Gao Shan tells her that they should find the person who leaked the information.
Strongly ordering Lin Wo not to do anything and wait for his message, Lin Wo promises to obey as he leaves to confront Sun Li. But having learned from Deng Li that Most Sky boys left the hospital, she disobeyed Gao Shan’s reminder right away.
“You leaked the bid.”
Confronting the shrewd Sun Li of leaking the bid information, Gao Shan listened to him blab that his meeting him might incite suspicion. That is exactly what Most Sky boys already concluded and pinned it to Su Yuan since he was recommended by Sun Li through his connection to his father.
Laying out the cards he know, Gao Shan confirmed Sun Li’s meticulous plan in cutting off Manager Wan and even involving a start-up head hunting company. Warning Gao Shan of not weaving speculations if he still wants to stay working in Most Sky, Sun Li advises him to stop being smart. He adds how his finding of the crucial information about the bid will also implicate him in the process.
Sun Li tells him not to overthink as it is Manager Wan’s fault for hiding his depression surprising Gao Shan who hid that detail from him. Finding his teammates in a verbal brawl, Gao Shan tries to mediate, but they asked Su Yuan to prove his innocence.
Fuming, Su Yuan decides to quit. Giving the needed encouragement, Gao Shan tells Su Yuan that he knows he would never do it. Ranting about their teammates who never saw him as a colleague, he blabs about not getting anything from betraying Director Wan since he is already rich and powerful.
He also vows to find the man helping Sun Li unaware that he is actually standing in front of him. Just then, Su Yuan receives a phone call that Manager Wan’s suicide attempt is going viral.
“I asked you to wait for me. Why wouldn’t you listen?”
Lin Wo and Deng Li find Director Wan’s wife and daughter outside the operating room. Introducing herself and apologizing at the same time, Lin Wo received a slap from Manager Wan’s wife for still coming over to visit. She promises to provide compensation and meets Gao Shan who admonishes her inability to fulfill her earlier promise.
Pouring her tears, Lin Wo blames herself for biting more than she can chew just what he pointed out previously. She chides herself from being naive in starting a head-hunting business that might even caused a death.
Wiping her tears, Gao Shan promises that he will take care of her problems and not to worry because he’s there so everything will be fine. Halting her tears, Lin Wo calls someone to find a job for Deng Li which surprised Gao Shan.
She tells him that if she escapes the situation, she won’t be able to find the courage to stand up again. With fire and tears in her eyes, she vows to prove Manager Wan’s innocence and also find the real culprit.
Thanking him for all that he does for her, Gao Shan responds that she should never trust whatever he says and do.
You Complete Me Episodes 5 & 6 Musings
Glimpses of Gao Shan’s painful past are slowly unraveling. We know his father committed suicide as well, hence, he received the shock when he saw Manager Wan’s state.
Apparently, Lin Wo is of prominent lineage, but is choosing to live a life that is entirely her own. With all his hinted warnings, the way Lin Wo is wired to believe in the brightest side of everything, she might face a predicament in the future. One that involves Gao Shan, related to his reminder to her of not trusting him.
Gao Shan’s real schemes reels intrigue because of his dark hero picture. Presenting he is bound to fulfill a revenge plan makes us wary of his actions. How he will change for the better I hope would involve some love magic.
Will Gao Shan and Lin Wo clear Manager Wan’s name? Will Su Yuan find out Gao Shan’s betrayal?
