Park Ji Hoon defined the cutest “boy in love” in the kickstart episode of new web series, Love Revolution!
I had a lot of good and adorable laughs in the first episode of Love Revolution. Admittedly, it’s a surprising moment for me as well, because I rarely cover web dramas. But the relatively young cast of the series particularly Park Ji Hoon did a great job setting the hook with his adorkable character.
Based on a popular webtoon of the same name, the series aims to steal hearts especially of the younger generation. It threads on romantic story of love and friendship between a group of high school students.

Love Revolution Opening Week Story
All set for a new phase of his life, Go Ju-young (Park Ji Hoon) gets his first taste of independence moving to a new place as he starts to live alone. His friends Lee Kyung-woo (Kim Young Hoon) and Kim Byung-hoon (Ko Chan Bin) help with moving his things and cutely bicker reflecting their strong bond.
Still adjusting to his new crib, Ju-young sleepily answers his phone and panics when Kyung-woo reminds him of the first day of school. Barely catching up on his bus, he is put on a tight spot when he forgot his wallet to pay for his fare. Kyung-woo, who has settled comfortably on his seat, just smiles on his predicament. Unfortunately, he is unable to help him as well because his T-money card does not have enough fund.
Ju-young begs the bus driver to no avail. Lucky for him, the girl behind him resolves the issue by paying for him too. Mumbling incomplete “thank you”, he goes to Kyung-woo and asks what he thinks about the pretty girl. Declaring his analysis that they could be fated, Kyung-woo smirks at his illusion.
Just then, the bus breaks strongly and Kyung-woo failed to grab his friend who unfortunately grabbed on the collar of the girl who just helped him.
The Fated Love Go Ju-young Wants To Believe
First day high reaches break time for Ju-young. He goes to his best friend’s room with Byung-hoon and knows just how to wake up Kyung-woo from slumber. Byung-hoon repeats unleashing his breath of not so fresh air on Kyung-min (Ahn Do Gyu), who completes the brotherhood circle of Ju-young.
Spotting the girl, Wang Ja-rim (Lee Ruby), whom he has had a few encounters in the past couple of days, Ju-young opens up with his friends how the universe seems to be conspiring for them to be each other’s destiny.
Byung-hoon and Kyung-min quickly debunk his logic earning a united laugh with Kyung-woo. But, Ju-young firmly believes his theory that romance happens through an accident and that both their prince and princess names even match.
Love Signs According to Ju-young
Elated at the thought of his romantic journey starting, his friends straighten him up right away. Going back home, Kyung-woo tells Ju-young that his mom would give him some side dishes just as they see Ja-rim walking to an apartment complex near both their houses.
Ju-young again connects it to destiny, but Kyung-woo shuts him up by telling him that his house is 23 steps away to her apartment against his place of 232 paces away. Not wanting to give up, Ju-young still set signs that would affirm his fated connection with Ja-rim.
His three signs include meeting at the bus stop, buying the same drink at lunch and whether Ja-rim would wear skirt or not. All of which turned out not matching Ju-young’s preference and prediction.
Unable to focus on the game with Byung-hoon and Kyung-woo, the latter gives him a meaningful love advice to not believe in destiny, but act on what he feels. He even coached Ju-young of how he can strike a conversation with her by returning the bus fare she lent him.
Boasting his face that warrants a doctoral degree in dating, he promises Kyung-woo that he will approach and talk to Ja-rim. The next day, Ju-young gets quite a cute sneering from Kyung-woo when his feet can’t move to say hi to Ja-rim.
In the next few days, he follows her around but still unable to utter a word to her. Ja-rim, who already sensed someone has been following her, tells her friends that she thinks she has a stalker which Kyung-woo overheard. Knowing his hopeless best friend is who Ja-rim described to be her stalker, Kyung-woo rushes to relay it to him.
Ju-young’s 1000 Won BIll Love Confession
Summoning strength, Ju-young finally decides a really really d-day to talk to Ja-rim. Noticing the same spirit of lurker following her, she hastens her pace and suddenly stops baiting Ju-young who has been trailing her. Trying to escape, Ja Rim grabs his bag and interrogates him. Ju-young then explains that he just wants to pay the bus fare.
Shyly handing her a romantic-looking envelope, he finally introduces himself and also asks for her name. He tells her he lives in the neighborhood and hopes he can be friends with her, to which she agreed.
Successfully giving the money which was revealed to be a love letter, the scene flashed back to the night when Ju-young poured his heart out with a love confession on the 1000 won bill. Sprinkling it with perfume and even layering it with fresh rose petals scent, Ju-young witnessed his love confession go to the bus fare’s box as Ja-rim used it for her payment that day.
Love Revolution Opening Week Peak Points & Musings
Love Revolution amazingly sprinted an overview of its story in less than 20 minutes with great narration, character introductions and comical moments. That for me is impressive and would definitely delight its targeted audience, the younger generation.
But it doesn’t mean it would be not appealing to other age group. For teens, watching it would mom and dad would be a nice bonding moment. Your pitch? it won’ take much of their time.
Park Ji Hoon is phenomenally amusing in this series. His train of thought has had me laugh a few times. That being said, the neat and upbeat writing bind its viewers to cheer for Ji-young’s love quest.
If Love Revolution keeps its lively vibe and feel-good youth story, then we are up for a quick Korean series that is irrevocably attractive.
Catch up with Park Ji Hoon, Kim Young Hoon, Lee Ruby and the gang as they traverse friendship and love stories while celebrating being young.
