1. Sell Your Haunted House
Jang Nara and Jung Yong Hwa portray an exorcist and psychic respectively in KBS 2TV’s latest supernatural series. Sell Your Haunted House narrates the story of a real estate owner who specializes in selling a house or building that has been reportedly haunted by an unrested spirit.
Apart from unraveling the mystery behind the eerie ghost deaths, it also serves heartbreaking and hopeful lessons about life and death.
2. Missing: The Other Side
Go Soo and Heo Joon Ho’s bromance in this OCN drama is one of the most endearing in the 2020 K-Drama roster. Acting as a bridge to the mortal world to wandering ghosts that find a place of comfort in Duon village, the two actors have powered an amazing story to console your heart.
Healing in a crime series is an unlikely element, but Missing: The Other Side gave us an idea that it can be irrevocably attractive. The series’ skill in solving crime cases with a touch of the heart is top-notch, letting the warmth find its way to the viewers’ hearts.
3. Hey Ghost, Let’s Fight
A psychic cohabiting with a ghost is the charm of this webtoon-based series starring Ok Taecyeon and Kim So Hyun. In the drama, Taecyeon has the ability to see spirits and uses it to save money so he can be freed from his unique ability.
When he meets a wandering ghost portrayed by Kim So Hyun, they acquiesce to work together. It turns out that their fates are entangled and a villain hiding in the dark caused it.
4. The Guest
The Guest focuses on eerie supernatural events that may or may not transpire in real life, but all throughout its entire run, it is centered on only one subject – humanity.
Faith, friendship, loyalty, sacrifice, hope, and the will to survive are just some of the things that make us human and The Guest was able to touch on these things, even the darkest side of each.
Kim Dong Wook and Kim Jae Wook portray the roles of a psychic and exorcist respectively. Together with Jung Eun Chae, they unearth the cryptic tragedy that befell their families.
5. The Cursed
On its 12-episode run, The Cursed presents the idea of how vengeance is driven by greed, yet ironically springs from an urge to protect the people we care about. Bravely deconstructing the world of Shamanism, its small and efficient cast propelled a continuously intensifying narrative that sedates viewers to stay until the end.
While the series might not appeal to the general audience, The Cursed is such a breather from the usual patterns of South Korean dramas abundantly aired in recent years. Jung Ji So created a unique character as a psychic who can execute death.
6. Oh My Ghost
When a passionate virgin ghost (Kim Seul Gi) finds a perfect host in the body of a super timid woman (Park Bo Young) with a psychic ability, she executes her plan of sleeping with a man so she can finally quell her “grudge”. The result leads to the woman finding confidence and connection to the boss she has long harbored a crush on.
7. Choe Yong
Ghost-seeing detective Yoon Cheo Yong (Oh Ji Ho) works on cryptic cases. His ability to see and interact with ghosts helps him with his job.
This OCN series ran two seasons with ten episodes each.
8. The Master’s Sun
A once-promising student, Tae Gong-sil (Gong Hyo Jin) is called “Tae-yang” when she was studying because of her brilliant mind. But, she, unfortunately, meets an accident and wakes up to a creepy ability to see wandering spirits. For years, it causes her to live a hard life as a ghost after the ghost came to ask a favor for their souls to be at peace.
Alcohol intoxication is also a no-no because a spirit can take over her body if she’s drunk. She lives as if waking up in a hospital, a jail or even a tomb is but normal until she meets the person who will change her life. Then she meets, a rich businessman Joo Joong-won (So Ji Sub) who has only been living to make his affluent self even richer. Having an estranged relationship with his father because of trauma from his past, he has built a cold exterior that no one can get through… until he meets Gong-sil.
9. The Priest
Science and exorcism are fused in this OCN thriller starring Yeon Woo Jin, Jung Yu Mi, and Park Yong Woo.
