DISNEY+ Bags Best Drama Series For “Big Bet” At Korea’s Blue Dragon Series Awards

Three other awards for Disney+ originals are won including Best Supporting Male Actor for Big Bet, Best Female Newcomer for Revenge of Others and Popular Star award for The Zone: Survival Mission.

On a night that celebrated the best Korean content in the streaming world, Disney+ won four awards at the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards (BSA) on July 19, including the coveted Best Drama Series for its Korean tentpole series Big Bet. In its second year, BSA is the first-ever industry award in Korea that recognizes the best stories and talent across various streaming services.

Big Bet, a crime action series with a strong fan base over two seasons starring the legendary actor Choi Min Sik, won the Best Drama Series and Best Supporting Male Actor (Lee Dong Hwi). In its premiere week, the second season replaced the first season as the most watched locally produced original series on Disney+ in Korea.

Shin Ye Eun won Best Female Newcomer for her role in Revenge of Others, a thriller series where she plays a student that transfers to her brother’s school to uncover the truth of his mysterious death. Lee Kwang Soo won the Popular Actor award for his role in the hilarious K-variety show The Zone: Survival Mission.

Disney+ recently announced its 2H2023 APAC content slate which includes over 20+ originals from Korea and Japan that will be exclusively available on the popular streaming service from now through 2024 and beyond.
