Lee Min Ki Dons Unambitious Character In “My Liberation Notes”

From dynamic emotional expression to realistic appearance, Lee Min Ki transforms into an interesting role in My Liberation Notes.

The new JTBC weekend series narrates the unbearably lovely life of three siblings. They attempt to liberate themselves from the harsh reality of living in the present. A lukewarm life that has seemingly reached its limit.

The drama is directed by Kim Seok-yoon, who is known for his works The Light in Your Eyes and Law School, and is written by Park Hae-young who also wrote My Mister and Another Miss Oh.

For his latest character, Lee portrays Yeom Chang-hee, the middle child among three siblings. He is a man with a plan for a life without a plan. Interesting, right? What’s more attractive is that Chang-hee assumes half-urban and half-rural living.

His funny daily life is one of the drawing points the audience can anticipate in the series. In one scene, he looks adorable organizing the convenience store items with a smile full of affection.

At another moment, he looks grumpy while holding a fan to quench his anger. Lastly, he is seen enjoying a moment of rest under the shade after fieldwork. His friendly and easygoing charm would surely add laughter to the series.

Living as he pleases, Yeom Chang-hee is a man without dreams. He is a sincere worker who travels the streets as an assistant sales manager at the convenience store headquarters on weekdays and goes out on the farm with his parents on the weekends.

Expressing fondness for his character, Lee shared intriguing facets of his character and the drama.

“I like not Chang-hee, but all the characters in the play. I really like the various emotions such as the situations the characters go through, the words that express the emotions they feel each time, and the warmth and pain in them. The part about Changhee’s character is already well drawn in the script, so I started acting with the intention of immersing in the role sketch.”

Previously, in the teaser video unveiled, Yeom Chang-hee gave hilarious demands to his father of getting a car. Marked as the troublemaker in the family, he has to give way to his sisters every morning when they prepare to go to work.

Aiming to present a story of a person who bravely takes one step forward for liberation in a life that is not happy even though there is no reason to be unhappy, My Liberation Notes decks its premiere on April 9.

  1. Thank you JTBC for bringing My Liberation Diary AKA My Liberation Notes to Netflix. This is my first time to watch Lee Min- Ki’s TV series on the same date that it premieres in Korea. I didn’t know Lee Min-Ki until I watched Because This is My First Life in January of this year. His character and performance are memorable and brilliant. I hope that his new TV series will receive notable reviews and high ratings on all paid cables and streaming devices especially on Netflix.
