“Queen of Tears” Kickstarts Buzz With First Script Reading Update

The table-read for the highly-anticipated series was completed and captured moments were revealed by the production team.

tvN’s new drama Queen of Tears narrates the dizzying crisis and miraculous restart of Hong Hae-in, a third-generation chaebol heiress of Queen’s Group, and Baek Hyun-woo, a supermarket prince and son of Yongduri’s head.

They are a married couple of three years. The compelling narrative of this couple as they face and overcome distressing obstacles is anticipated to move the viewers and help them appreciate the value of family.

The series is a collaboration between the writer Park Ji Eun (My Love from the Star, Legend of the Blue Sea, Crash Landing on You) and directors Jang Young Woo (Bulgasal: The Immortal Souls) and Kim Hee Won (Vincenzo, Little Women).

At the script reading site, which was revealed on January 31, the main characters who will lead the work, including writer Park Ji-eun, who was in charge of writing, and directors Jang Young-woo and Kim Hee-won, who were in charge of directing, gathered together.

The script reading began with director Jang Young-woo’s greeting, “We will laugh and cry together and have fun together, and I hope you all will be happy.

According to the production team, Kim Soo Hyun, who plays Baek Hyun-woo, the legal director of Queens Group, mixed his cool-headed voice and portrayed the subtle emotions of being intimidated by the power of his conglomerate wife’s family, but pretending to be calm on the outside.

With her cynical tone and fierce eyes, Kim Ji Won has already shown herself as the character of Hong Hae-in, the heiress of Queens Department Store.

In particular, the acting of Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, who were immersed in the emotional changes of Baek Hyun-woo and Hong Hae-in, who keep their affection for each other on certain days despite clashing with each other due to differences of opinion within the company. The synergy between the the lead stars making eye contact while exchanging lines, heightens curiosity about their story.

Meanwhile, Park Sung Hoon plays the role of investment expert Yoon Eun-seong, forming a close relationship with Queens Group, adding a strange tension to the romance.

Kwak Dong Yeon and Lee Joo Bin, who portrays Hong Hae-in’s younger brother Hong Soo-cheol and his wife Cheon Da-hye, made the people gathered at the scene soar with their cute chemistry.
