IDOL: The Coup Episode 10 Key Moments

“You think being dignified and just is enough? You think the world is that simple?”

Bbiyong continues to scare Ji-han with the effect of calling out the plagiarism in Mars’ unit song. He emphasizes the fact that he has fans and Mars could be dragged in the mad if he calls out Bbiyong’s plagiarism.

While Ji-han is out of contact, Jenna releases a new video claiming that the song Cotton Candy is preparing is their song, which she wrote a long time ago. Starpeace Entertainment has not released its stance after Jenna’s video, and this frustrates Bbiyong.

“They’ve come. They’re back!”

Mars’ fans continue to camp outside Cotton Candy’s dorm, and Stella sights a mysterious man which triggers her to react anxiously. Cotton Candy members are disappointed in an article released, which claims to be from an agency staff that relays Ji-han’s view on the issue.

Upon refreshing their fan page, Chase-ah sees a new post on their board from one of their old fans. Following that, numerous posts have also been added to their board, and the girls tear up.

“Being a family and being like a family are different.”

CEO Cha rushes to his aunt’s clinic, hearing that Ji-han is there. On the clinic’s rooftop, CEO Cha and Ji-han have a heart-to-heart talk. Ji-han wonders whether CEO Cha just hated him back then.

However, CEO Cha claims that he didn’t have the courage to become a family since he was afraid of being stuck in an identity of being Korean. He pledges to Ji-han that he would protect his brother, and take care of the aftermath of whatever decision he makes with the plagiarism controversy.

“But people like us know. What it’s like to encounter a hidden spring after wandering a winter forest. Even if it’s someone else’s garden.”

Jenna coaches Seok-choon on his duties as a manager. The members are alarmed to hear that Lia Kim is going to their dorm. Lia Kim offers to become the choreographer of Cotton Candy as she also has experienced beginning her career in a basement.

Reporter Seong Ji-hye also tags along with Lia Kim visiting Cotton Candy, to inform the girls of the support she wishes to contribute to the group. Ji-han calls Jenna, and he talks about how he cherishes the song as he puts all his senses into it.

“Getting older means getting more accustomed to being cowardly. So, do what you can now. That way, you’ll have no regrets.”

Appearing back at their studio, Ji-han asks Ray to gather their members to talk. Ji-han calls CEO Cha, and informs him about his plans of holding a press conference. Before the press conference started, Reporter Mo has expressed his doubts to Bbiyong as his tips do not match up the timeline.

Speaking up about the issue, Ji-han reveals that he, too, believes that Jenna truly owns the song, and Bbiyong stole it. He explains how he will be pushing back his unit’s activity even though it was a hard decision to make for him and his group. Ray also adds about how rushed the unit’s project is.

“It’s like the last piece of our puzzle. Let’s put the puzzle together.”

After hearing that Mars would be giving up their unit’s activity, Jenna along with her members feel bad for the unit. In turn, Jenna announces that her group will be dropping their song. Alarmed with the news, CEO Cha and Ji-han are at a loss of words as they strived hard to make way for Cotton Candy.

Jenna explains her group’s decision with consideration of Ji-han’s affection for the song. Ji-han then asks Jenna for a favor, which is to join as a producer in Cotton Candy’s activities.

IDOL: The Coup Episode 10 Musings

Although Ji-han may have been swayed with what Bbiyong has said, he still chose the upright decision. Being stuck in a situation that needs to take into consideration other people who might get dragged into the mess can truly make the decision process hard. Ji-han’s move is commendable as it is not an easy decision to make.

In this episode, we see how fans and a mysterious man affect Stella’s wellbeing. However, we also see added allies again to the group. Their fans along with Lia Kim and a reporter appear before them at the right time, which gives strength to the group.

CEO Cha has shown again one of his genuine sides with his conversation with Ji-han. Their lines were cheesy, but it was enough to express how they look out for each other. Moreover, we get to see how CEO Cha’s experiences in America molded him to be the person he is at present.

Backing down with their unit’s song, Ji-han sends it off by singing for one last time like a funeral. For the past episodes, he may have appeared fierce in front of Jenna, but inside he’s just a sincere person attached to a song he truly enjoyed. It’s great that he knows when and how to back down despite his affection.

Cotton Candy led by Jenna has chosen to drop the song even with the efforts of CEO Cha and Ji-han. The girls’ decision was quite frustrating for the two brothers because their efforts may have been futile. I also feel the frustration, but it is also understandable to change a song that has been wrapped up with controversy prior to its release.

Several issues in the series have been resolved, with Elle coming back to the group, and Cotton Candy being cleared up from the plagiarism controversy. Stella’s situation shall be given light in the following episodes as her reactions recently are becoming more visible. Moreover, we shall also look forward to the progress of Cotton Candy’s new song.
