May I Help You Episode 11 and 12 Highlights
Love finally happens between Dong-joo and Tae-hee. As they are in the honeymoon stage, Tae-hee plans a date immediately. Unfortunately, Dong-joo has to go on a business trip. But he knows just what to do and dotes on Dong-joo sweetly by picking her up from a far place and getting the persimmon fruits she craves.
Their relationship is soon discovered by their secret cupid uncles who feign ignorance about the situation. Wanting to spend a lot of time together, Tae-hee agrees that he wants to date Dong-joo every day.
“He’s good-looking and tall. That’s all that matters.”
Meeting her friends, Dong-joo revealed dating Tae-hee and shared her happiness with them. They agree to munch on the yummy food first before getting to the details of Dong-joo’s newly blossomed love life.
Echoing his girl’s happiness, boy-in-love Tae-hee, on the other hand, goes to Boram apartment and happily recycles the garbage even praising the cans to be pretty.
Quickly chatting with Dong-joo’s father, he calls him father which the latter didn’t mind and was happy to hear. He also asks him to invite him to drink with him sometime.
Meanwhile, Chung-ha continues wanting to disassociate herself from her mother. Their last conversation did not go well and she even said hurtful things like living without minding each other’s business.
Unfortunately, Chung-ha’s mother died and was brought to where Dong-joo is working. The latter also takes care of the funeral service.
“I won’t feel sorry again. I don’t pity you anymore, and I don’t want to see you ever again. Ever.”
Probably the hardest wish she has to grant, Chung-ha’s mother asks Dong-joo to put her daughter back where she belongs. Making sure to remind Chung-ha to eat and rest, Dong-joo clocks out of her work schedule.
She sees Tae-hee waiting for her at the bus stop and they talk about Chung-ha’s situation. She also encouraged him to pay respect and give comfort to his friend.
Pressured by the wish of Chung-ha’s mother, Dong-joo feels like a villain of a romantic story being a hindrance to an old couple that dated for so long. It doesn’t help that the people visiting the wake also hope for the ex-lovers to be reunited.
Thankfully, Tae-hee who knows the things she could have heard from their colleagues reassures her that she’s all that he needs. He promises to make her smile always.
Sending off her mother, Chung-ha promises to take care of herself so her mom will not worry about her anymore.
“I’m so sorry for taking this long to realize.”
Tae-hee’s grandmother arrives as Jun-ho’s death anniversary is coming up. She joins the new couple for a morning exercise and shares the story of her youngest grandson who died. Seeing
At the same time, Hae-an who asked Vincent to let him borrow a screwdriver finds some photographs and got curious about them. Shock ran through his body as he recognized the boy his brother killed turned out to be Tae-hee’s brother. When he returned the screwdriver, he confirmed his deduction through Vincent.
Recognizing the boy on the wallpaper of his grandmother’s phone, Dong-joo realized that her first client, the one she regrets the most is the brother of Tae-hee whom he yearned for the most.
Dong-joo rushes to her place as she connects the dots to the uncanny connection that happened between her and Tae-hee. Thinking Dong-joo got offended by his grandmother, he tried to reach her but she was not picking up his calls. She responds that they will talk later.
When they meet at night, Dong-joo finally confessed about the boy she mentioned before who was so considerate of others. She revealed how she realized the boy she ran away from because she was so scared back then was his brother.
Sharing tears together, Tae-hee weeps painfully holding the ring that his brother was about to give him the night he died. Dong-joo apologizes for delivering the ring too late and for leaving Jun-ho alone in the room because she got scared.
“Jun-ho asked me to find a police officer if I can’t deliver the ring right away.”
Learning about the relationship between Jun-ho and Tae-hee, Hae-an’s guilt for choosing not to help the young boy who asked for help because of his brother escalated.
When Tae-hee picked up Dong-joo from work, she shares in passing that the ring could have been delivered fast if she gave it to the police. She explains that Jun-ho told her to look for a police officer in case she can’t deliver the ring fast.
Dong-joo’s remark about the police officer bugs Tae-hee so he asked his father if by any chance there was a police officer at the crime scene. His father affirms there was a first responder.
Visiting his brother, Hae-an mutters how there was a point in his life he thought he could be happy. It turns out they were not lucky with their parents. Just when he shared the great news with his brother that he topped the police academy and will open doors of opportunity for him, his brother drunk drive and even killed an innocent.
“Do you know what you often hear at a funeral? If you are alive, you should live.”
Going through another heart-to-heart talk, Tae-hee confessed how apologetic he feels toward his parents for causing immeasurable pain. He also tells her not to feel ashamed for running away because he was not able to send off his brother properly.
Enlightening him to live so he can continue remembering Jun-ho, Dong-joo shared how remembering his brother will make him feel that he’s not gone.
On Jun-ho’s death anniversary, the whole family paid a visit together. Tae-hee made sure to relay to Dong-joo that everything went well.
The next day, Tae-hee and Vincent say goodbye to Tae-hee’s parents who will go back to Yeosu. Spotting Hae-an, Vincent introduced him. Awkwardly, he makes an excuse that he has to go to work. Seeing Hae-an wore only thin clothing, Tae-hee bought a jacket and brings it to the station out of care for Hae-an.
Overwhelmed by the kindness he received, Hae-an thanks Tae-hee for the gift. The latter also admitted that he’s dating Dong-joo and he wants to come clean since he does not feel good keeping it a secret from him.
“I still have a lot of things I want to do.”
Encountering the daughter of a colleague one day, Dong-joo creates a connection with Seol-ah. She dreams of becoming an idol someday. Dong-joo gamely took her audition video.
Sadly, because of financial problems, Seol-ah’s mother murdered her own child and committed suicide after. Meeting Seol-ah and explaining she’s dead did not sit easily on the young woman who has mapped out what she wanted to aspire to in her life. Dong-joo can only comfort her with the sad fate.
Strangely, when she touches Seol-ah’s mother’s face nothing happened. Meeting her uncle to rant about her grievances, Priest Michael explains how the mother could have not deserved the gift she can summon because of the sins she committed.
Still, Dong-joo feels bad not being able to take Seol-ah’s video singing. Thus, she questions if her gift is really a blessing since she does not think she’s done well enough.
Conveying her regret for not bearing a few moments with Jun-ho, could have helped somehow because she can’t stand the thought of how she can’t do anything for the man she loves.
Wanting to grant Seol-ah’s wish to become a dancer whose work will be forever, Dong-joo uploaded her audition video which went viral.
Receiving a call from the hospital, Hae-an arrives and was informed that he can visit for 10 minutes. Just then. he sees Tae-hee standing from afar realizing their ill-fated connection.
May I Help You Episode 11 and 12 Musings
Centered on different family relationships, episodes 11 and 12 of May I Help You took us to different scenarios of agony experienced in varying family situations. We empathize with how Tae-hee’s family had taken the time to accept the pain of losing Jun-ho. Feeling sympathetic to Hae-an bearing the weight of his brother’s misdeed is also given.
Likewise, Chung-ha’s relationship with her mother asserts no matter how distant or heartbreaking a parent-child relationship is, in the face of letting go of each other permanently, the bond and hope to wish for each other to find peace is inescapable.
In episode 12, the murder-suicide case left harrowing moments that would put anyone to tears. Suffering extreme debts, a mother opted to kill her daughter and commit suicide after.
Dong-joo who met the girl has a grand dream that she can no longer work on. It was equal parts heartbreaking and reality-biting especially the part when the girl ran down all the things she still wanted to do.
The scene when Tae-hee musters to visit the wake of Chung-ha’s mom despite not having a good relationship and that moment when Chung-ha’s eyes scream wanting to feel his arms in a comforting embrace was emotionally and beautifully captured.
Similarly, the inconvenient truth shown in the eyes of Tae-hee and Hae-an in the dying seconds of the 12th episode firmly pitched a convincing reason that viewers should hang on to how the closures would proceed for the characters in the series.
