May I Help You Episode 8 Highlights

Still keen to make Tae-hee snap out of his pain, Chung-ha appears to question him if she wants him to kill a man. He responds to go ahead if she thinks everything will return what was lost.

It turns out that his brother Jun-ho was hit by a drunk driver who is still comatose in the hospital. He also appears to be connected to Hae-an.

“Would “first love” able to sway hearts?”

Finding herself chatting with her uncle about a man’s first love, Priest Michael advises his niece to forego her curiosity about a man’s first love since literally it is Pandora’s box. He reiterates that digging about a man’s first love will only hurt her especially if she’s interested in him.

Michael successfully made Dong-joo stay to eat by sharing the menu of the day and they found Tae-hee and Vincent with whom they eat together. Later, Dong-joo sympathizes with one of the children called Joseph having activities arranged by the church as he reminds him of her own childhood.

She joins Tae-hee and Vincent on her way back and heads to the funeral home to attend to her superior’s instructions. Alone with his nephew, Vincent brought up that he saw Chung-ha last time and tells his two cents about how time cannot heal all wounds especially when there’s no reason for them to break up.

Absent-minded Chung-ha sees Dong-joo in front of the hospital near the funeral home and goes for a casual chat with her. Subtly emphasizing his connection with Tae-hee, she offers they get closer to each other.

May I Help You

“My dad became a star. My mom said so. She said he’s always watching over us as a star.”

Tae-hee and Dong-joo are roped in to take care of Joseph who wishes to have a camping experience. It turns out that he wants to see the stars and he learned that going on a camping trip would let him see more stars as it is dark.

Prior to that, Dong-joo tries to open a conversation about Chung-ha, but Tae-hee remains unresponsive to sharing his pain.

Being reminded of his own brother who also had the same wish before to see the stars, Tae-hee’s heart aches for Joseph. They watch Joseph stare at the stars weeping and yearning for his father. Dong-joo comforts the little boy and reassures him that his father is watching over him.

After putting Joseph to bed, Tae-hee asked Dong-joo if she wants to go for a walk. She obliges and mumbles about how good he is taking care of Joseph like he has a lot of experience.

Suddenly stopping his track, the event of how Tae-hee’s younger brother Jun-ho died unfolds. Crying in front of her, Tae-hee blames himself agonizingly. Reaching out to comfort him, Dong-joo pulls him into her embrace.

May I Help You Episode 8 Musings

Jun-ho’s request which he asked Dong-joo to do, finally secures the puzzle pieces of what happened that unfortunate night in the latest episode of May I Help You. That probably explains why Tae-hee shuts everything around him including the marriage because that errand caused his dear brother’s life.

Such a neat transition for the writing of this series to include the story of Joseph and have his yearning mirror what Tae-hee also earnestly hoped for.

This quick break from Dong-joo’s send-off mission still beautifully captured the central theme of the drama about life and death. The transition to connect the lead characters’ struggles to the narrative went smoothly. Sooner, Dong-joo’s regret of not granting her first client’s wish will be realized.

Along with that, Hae-an’s story will also unfold.

NOTE: Episodes 9 and 10 are delayed to give way for the World Cup.
