As the midterm exams are soon happening, the students of Asung High School are all getting prepared to have good scores and be on top in the 6th episode of Melancholia.
Meanwhile, Seung-Yoo confessed to Yoon-Soo. Kyu-Young blackmailed Seung-Yoo that he would spread that he has a crush on their teacher unless he would fail all his exams.
Moreover, Yoon-Soo’s wedding got interrupted when a scandalous photo was flashed in the wedding hall.

Melancholia Episode 6 Key Moments
Seung-Yoo Got Rejected
When Seung-Yoo got his courage to confess to Yoon-Soo, he gave Yoon-Soo a gift. However, Yoon-Soo didn’t accept the photo frame and this leaves Seung-Yoo heartbroken.
Meanwhile, Kyu-Young is still threatened by Seung-Yoo because of his skills, that’s why when he saw the photo frame of Yoon-Soo on Seung-Yoo’s bag, he blackmailed him. However, Seung-Yoo said that he would protect Yoon-Soo at all costs.
Ye-Rin Cheated on their Midterm Exams
Desperate to have perfect grades, Ye-Rin gave the photo of Yoon-Soo resting on Seung-Yoo’s head in exchange for having the answer key for their upcoming midterm exam in Mathematics.
When the results are out, Seung-Yoo got a perfect score. However, Ye-Rin accumulated one mistake. Little did she know that there has been a change in the exam. She was confused because she memorized all the answers.
Yoon-Soo along with a co-teacher noticed that Ye-Rin’s answer is the same as the answer to the unrevised version of the exam. They suspect that there is some leakage of the answers.
Ye-Rin was called by Yoon-Soo to talk about this. However, Ye-Rin denies that she cheated. Meanwhile, the mother of Ye-Rin came angry and slap Yoon-Soo because Ye-Rin had trouble breathing.
The Cancelled Wedding of Yoon-Soo
Nearing her wedding date, Yoon-Soo went to talk to Seung-Yoo’s parents and gave a little gift for him.
When Seung-Yoo receive a ballpen from Yoon-Soo, he run and called Yoon-Soo. He congratulated Yoon-Soo on her upcoming wedding. After this, he turns his back on her and walks away.
Meanwhile, Seung-Yoo got an invitation to a talk because of his discovery about prepositions. At the same time, Yoon-Soo was already in the wedding venue, wearing her white bridal dress.
Yoon-Soo was congratulated by her students and the affiliates of his soon-to-be husband, Sung-Jae. When it’s time for the two to walk into the hall, many are startled because a photo of Yoon-Soo and Seung-Yoo is flashed on the screen.
The sweet photo of them, wherein Yoon-Soo was resting on Seung-Yoo’s shoulder caught the attention of their guests. Sung-Jae also looks to Yoon-Soo with so many questions. Meanwhile, the mother of Seung-Yoo looks disgusted.
Ending the episode, the preview of the 7th episode of Melancholia shows that Seung-Yoo is now a successful man who still majors in math. It even showed that he now became a professor at Asung High School.
Melancholia Episode 6 Musings
The tension on Melancholia continues as Ye-Rin fiercely desires to beat Seung-Yoo. There is a time when I got irritated with Ye-Rin’s behavior because she’s so desperate to like math, even though she hates it.
Being a daughter of an assemblyman, Ye-Rin got spoonfeed and expects that she would get all the things she wants. She even memorized all the answers to their exams which is very unfair to her classmates.
Meanwhile, I admire the sense of justice of Yoon-Soo. She always looks calm even though she knows that Ye-Rin cheated and cut the brakes of her bike. That’s why Yoon-Soo is hated by the higher-ups because she notices everything (even the cheating part.)
I believe that you can’t call yourself a teacher if you would tolerate the cheating behavior of your students. Director Noh doesn’t deserve her seat at Asung High School because she’s the one who permitted to give Ye-Rin the answer key.
For Seung-Yoo, he doesn’t have the personality of competing with others. He just enjoys solving math problems. However, I was also broken when Yoon-Soo rejected him but I guess it’s the right thing to do because Yoon-Soo is already engaged.
I still hope that when the time is right, they would meet again and start all over, not as a student-teacher bond but rather as co-teachers.
