Following the image flashed in the wedding of Yoon-Soo, the 7th episode of Melancholia fast-forwards to four years.
After the disgrace they confronted, Yoon-Soo and Seung-Yoo had both led separate lives. But it seems the world is small for both of them as they are bound to meet again.
Meanwhile, Seung-Yoo’s name became popular because of his prestigious awards in the field of Mathematics. Moreover, he decided to teach in Asung high school as a math teacher.

Melancholia Episode 7 Key Moments
The Return of Seung-Yoo
After the wedding of Yoon-Soo, Seung-Yoo was frustrated about what happened and talked to his parents that she has nothing to do with it.
As a punishment, she was removed as a teacher in Asung high school. Meanwhile, Seung-Yoo also decided not to study in Asung anymore.
After four years, Seung-Yoo’s name became popular, and many television shows invited him as a guest to talk about his prestigious awards in Mathematics. At a young age, Seung-Yoo excelled more in the field of math, and deep inside he wanted to meet Yoon-Soo again.
Seung-Yoo Continues to Find Yeon-Soo
During his guesting, Seung-Yoo’s attention was caught by a student with the anonymous name “calculus” and is wearing a “1729” cap. He thought that maybe the girl was Yeon-Soo but he was wrong.
When Seung-Yoo did his investigation to find Yoon-Soo, he was able to find the shelter where her father stays. He went to the shelter and gave his paper that won a grand award to her father.
More than this, Seung-Yoo wants to see Yoon-Soo and is willing to wait. When it’s time to leave, he saw her and the two decided to talk.
He was very curious about her whereabouts including her current situation. However, she doesn’t talk about her personal life anymore and told him to never come back but he didn’t agree.
The Doors of Asung High School Welcomes Seung-Yoo
When Ms. Noh heard about the many achievements of Seung-Yoo, she immediately invited Seung-Yoo to talk. During their talk, Seung-Yoo acts so professionally in front of his old school principal.
Later on, Ms. Noh introduced Asung’s old students like Ye-Rin and Kyu-Young as new teachers that would guide the student’s academics. Many are shocked and excited when Seung-Yoo entered the hall.
The applause is heard when Seung-Yoo walked and gave his speech. However, Ye-Rin talked to Ms. Noh and said that she must take a closer look at Seung-Yoo because she feels that he has other motives why he entered Asung high school once again.
Ending the episode, Seung-Yoo and Yoon-Soo accidentally met in a library. However, the lights all turned off.
Melancholia Episode 7 Musings
After the scandal, I was very excited about what would Seung-Yoo do to prove their innocence. I had a great feeling that Seung-Yoo purposely did well in Mathematics because it can help him to clear their name.
I was also very touched when Seung-Yoo visited Yoon-Soo’s father to give him a copy of his paper. Moreover, the long-awaited moment when Yoon-Soo and Seung-Yoo saw each other again after four years definitely make up for the lost time with its heart-fluttering appeal.
Seung-Yoo’s face radiates with hope and happiness when he saw Yoon-Soo again. However, I can sense that Yoon-Soo was not yet ready to see him again. She also remains silent and doesn’t want to talk about her private life.
My most favorite part of the episode is when Seung-Yoo entered Asung high school again, not just as a student but rather as a teacher. I have a great hunch that Seung-Yoo’s deeper purpose starts here.
I just wish that Yeon-Soo and Seung-Yoo’s relationship would untighten so that they can work together for a better educational policy and most importantly to regain their reputation as individuals.
Moreover, I also felt that Ye-Rin somehow likes Seung-Yoo because she’s worried if Seung-Yoo still has feelings for Yeon-Soo. I thought that Ye-Rin would do the right thing this time but I doubt it. I just hope that Ye-Rin would be enlightened have some character development.
I also sense that Ms. Noh also has a plan why she accepted Seung-Yoo again at Asung high school. However, I also believe that Seung-Yoo and Yoon-Soo are fiercer this time.
