My Roommate is a Gumiho Episodes 9 & 10 Key Moments

“I should not be curious. I’ll watch over her for a short while. Then I must move out of her life.”

After Jae-jin’s ruckus the other night, he ends up sleeping over at Dam’s place because he was kicked out by his brothers. At school, Dam feeds him about the trouble he made in Hye-sun’s car. He pleads for her to help explain with his brothers as they dote on her.

At his class, Woo-yeo proceeds with his lecture but gets constantly distracted by Dam. The same distracted self is shown by Sun-woo who wonders if Jae-jin is the man Dam likes.

Fortunately for Jae-jin, Hye-sun settles a broken car side mirror by disposing of it. To settle what he owes, he bought her a dictionary of Korean idioms to help her familiarize herself with it.

“That’s called jealousy.”

When Woo-yeo spots them together, he takes the opportunity to softly chide Jae-jin for getting drunk and causing inconvenience to Dam people. Noticing her best friend’s strange behavior, Hye-sun of course didn’t waste that opportunity to rub his strange behavior to his face.

She totally goes to a baffling moment on how sentimental Woo-yeo became asking her how she survived all her heartbreaks.

“I like you. And I want you to like me.”

Bumping on Woo-yeo while walking, he confirms with Dam about her memories that were not erased. Pouring her sentiments, she makes a heartfelt confession of how he makes her heart flutter. Despite Woo-yeo’s warning that she is too good for him, she remains steadfast with what she feels.

Just as she was about to walk away, he pulled her in his arms.

“You look young in your suit. You look like you’re only 800 years old.”

Officially in a relationship, Dam and Woo-yeo can’t wait to do all the couple things like going on dates. Confident to take charge in their date, Woo-yeo brings Dam to what he thought to be ideal dating places.

Unfortunately, his idea came from a 15-year-old drama, so they end up having a bathhouse date.

When Dam’s turn came, Woo-yeo has been battling his “gumiho cravings”. Albeit doing a few pieces of advice from Hye-sun like food binging, he does not want to scare Dam like the last time when he went for a deep kiss with her. Dam brings him to an arcade where he keenly avoids any physical contact so his “craving” won’t be awakened.

Thankfully, Hye-sun takes charge in explaining to Dam why Woo-yeo has been acting strange, but she can’t elaborate on the complexity of gumiho‘s nature.

When Hye-sun checks on her friend, she suggests pent-up sexual desire could also be considered and they are both perplexed on why the marble seems to be collecting energy. Woo-yeo decides for him and Dam to not closely interact while he’s checking on his problem. He expressed his worries about getting more of her energy could cause trouble.

“That confession I made might have been lame but I was serious. I had feelings for you, and I still do.”

Determined to still chase after Dam, Seon-woo saves her to do the “free hug campaign” to be conducted by their club in the university fair. When Seon-woo pointed out how Dam appears to have lost weight, she confirms it at home and realizes that Woo-yeo is right for them to temporarily stay away from each other while he finds the answer.

On the day of the school festival, Woo-yeo meets the mountain god who reminds him again of how “love” is impossible for a gumiho. He emphasizes how humans are meant to be with humans. He also cast a magic spell between Sun-woo and Dam.

“I think you’re wrong because I like you more than the way you like me.”

Unaware that her boyfriend shape-shifted to Jae-jin, Dam confessed that she is officially dating. She also conveys how she thinks she likes her boyfriend more. Correcting her about her thoughts, Woo-yeo assures her that he likes her more than she does, so he regrets proposing for them to have space in the meantime.

Holding his hand, Dam pleads for them to compromise and work together while they are trying to sort his problematic marble.

“It’s a free hug. It’s a free hug for you.”

Later, the students go to a restaurant for a nightcap. When Dam and Sun-woo’s status are brought in, she set the record straight and declared she’s already dating.

Wallowing in alcohol and feeling dejected, Sun-woo calls Dam who was about to leave and offers to take her home. Considering his drunken state, she refuses and heads to leave but the magical thread cast by the mountain god earlier works its magic.

My Roommate is a Gumiho Episodes 9 & 10 Musings

The humor and lively depiction of the characters contribute to the addictive drive of My Roommate is a Gumiho. Approaching the big conflict of whether Woo-yeo can survive his goal, we also get to answer if his romance with a mortal can be fulfilled.

I love how their amusing dates neutralized the problematic situation of them being forced to not be together physically. Even in real life, that doesn’t make sense. That’s the whole point of relationship beginnings, being all so sweet to each other.

Meanwhile, Jae-jin’s and Hye-sun’s blossoming connection is growing to an endearing rate. That rooting for them is at the same level as

how we hope Dam and Woo-yeo can resolve their love story.

Down to the last six episodes, we gear up to “hopefully all of these make sense” moment. Hopefully we get happy endings especially in the case of Sun-woo, who has been serving us with palpable second lead syndrome.
