“Soundtrack #1” Episode 2 Paves A Possible Love Confrontation

Soundtrack # 1

Eun-soo perceived Sun-woo’s jealousy as his usual unfriendly nature to men she’s in contact with, in the second episode of Soundtrack #1.

It turns out that Eun-soo is just plain clueless about her best friend’s real feelings for her. Unknown to her, the very message of the song she’s trying to write lyrics for is exactly the story of Sun-woo to her – and not with Jennifer.

Soundtrack #1 Episode 2 Key Moments

In the opening episode of Soundtrack #1, Park Hyung Sik and Han So Hee supersize the love idea of two friends who refuse to cross the romance line between them.

Friends for over 19 years, Han Sun-woo (Park Hyung Sik) and Lee Eun-soo (Han So Hee) share a special relationship. A kind of bond when they know they have to be at each other’s side.

While working on a current project, Eun-soo gets Sun-woo to take her profile picture before heading to a meeting with a song producer.

Unfortunately, her submitted lyrical composition lacks the punch. But she begs the producer to give her another chance to polish it.

She was given a chance and when she realized her best friend can help her, she invites him to live with her for two weeks.

“Try asking your friend about the idea of unrequited love.”

After a round of drinks the other night, Sun-woo wakes up to the sight of beautiful Eun-soo positioned intimately with him. Her arresting beauty made him lose his repressed emotion cursing his heart for not being still.

Later, they eat breakfast and go for a walk to help nourish Eun-soo’s writer’s spirit. Inspired by her sudden memory of how Sun-woo taught her how to bike, she drags him to perfect her seemingly hopeless car driving skills.

But when she was summoned for the project she’s working on with Kang Woo-il, Eun-soo also brings Sun-woo who did nothing but cause unnecessary distractions.

Sensing an emotion from Sun-woo that Eun-soo is oblivious to, Woo-il advises her to get some help from her best friend.

Softly chiding Sun-woo’s earlier actions, they banter about how he had not liked any man involved with her. Both in a sour mood, Sun-woo gets a call from Dong-hyun to discuss his photo exhibit’s cancellation plans.

Relieved that his current condition is because of Eun-soo, Dong-hyun’s mood lightened knowing that his precious artist is not retiring.

“He and I have been friends for 20 years. Yes, we’ve been friends for 19 years. What are friends for? A friend in need is a friend indeed. That’s what I think.”

Bringing a bouquet of flowers and a gift, Eun-soo made up with Sun-woo who of course can’t get angry with her anyway. They go for some grocery shopping for Eun-soo’s promised dinner of her specialty dish.

When they reach her place, her mother let her presence be known. Rushing to explain the situation in case she misread it, Eun-soo’s mom asked them to sit. Once settled, she draws her tarot cards and forces the two friends to be her clients.

Right on the dot, Eun-soo’s mom’s reading of Sun-woo’s current situation of sincere pure love made him nervous. But sensing the picture, she tweaks that the woman she loves is far away. Later, when she leaves the house and was politely walked through the door by Sun-woo, she gives him the last tarot card for good luck.

Praising Eun-soo’s dinner, they casually chat and she asks if she knows the meaning of “the air of 4:40 AM” which Woo-il mentioned. Knowing the feeling 4:40 AM evokes, Sun-woo comments it to be being lonely in silence or wanting to be sleep but you cannot.

Suggesting they try to go out at 4:40 AM, Sun-woo finds himself tagging along with her career-related experiment. From brainstorming to watching sappy romance stories, he supports her unconditionally.

When Eun-soo answered Sun-woo’s ringing phone because he was in the washroom, she obliged Dong-hyun’s request to send a file to him. While on his laptop, she tries to check if her Jeju pictures are saved and found them.

Curiosity hits her more and she digs into a few more albums that store more of her candid pictures. Processing the meaning of those pictures, she locks gazes with Sun-woo who just came inside the room.

Soundtrack #1 Episode 2 Musings

All of us except Eun-soo know of Sun-woo’s earnest love towards his best friend in Soundtrack #1.

If the last scene previews Eun-soo’s realization that Sun-woo’s extra special treatment with her is not because of friendship and love, we would all be happy campers.

After all, we’re down to the last two episodes and crossing the friendship line while reassuring our female lead that her love woes are baseless won’t fit in the last episode alone.

Since Disney Plus knows how to play hard to get by not giving us teasers, anticipating the next episode is expected.

Soundtrack #1 feels like a long movie that we need to watch in installments each week, to be honest. Nevertheless, the chemistry of Han So Hee and Park Hyung Sik is just palpable.

We are looking at whether Sun-woo will seize the moment to confess or if Eun-soo will be overwhelmed with fear and choose not to confront the reality of Sun-woo’s unrequited love.
