The Killing Vote

The Killing Vote Episode 8 Highlights

Previously, Mu-chan realizes Teacher Lee to be the possible culprit they have been searching for all along. It was revealed how young Teacher Lee idolized the professor. Ji-hoon was also unveiled to be the young man who was almost adopted by Professor Kwon.

“Our justice is rational! We are doing this to open the eyes of the ignorant government.”

Acquiring CCTV video of Gaetal, Mu-chan notices something that can be used in the investigation. Detective Choi also figures out something that he did not share.

The public pushes for the death penalty and uses Gaetal’s advocacy to get the attention of the government by holding protests. Gaetal masks are also becoming popular which makes Teacher Lee happy.

Meanwhile, Reporter Do-hee meets Assemblywoman Min who proposes she continue her show that was canceled and she will set everything up. Curious how the assemblywoman got her information, Reporter Do-hee acquiesces to the golden opportunity.

Min, whom Ju Hyun does not want to send to school anymore, is having a problem reaching out Ji-hoon. Teacher Lee also asks her where he lives since he is unreachable by the person who was set to give him counseling.

“Gaetal is No.1 fan and No.1 fan is Lee Min-soo. He’s been sending mails for five years. He deserves a fan meeting with his hero.”

In a cryptic meeting, men gathered wearing gaetal masks planning a massive killing of death row inmates. One suggests it would make one of the advocacy members happy but the other insists on the real purpose of the advocacy which is to call the attention of the government.

Their next move is the mass murder of jailbirds sanctioned with death penalty through the provision of drinking bottled water and disguised vitamins that are truly high in potassium.

Mu-chan’s suspicion of one of the murder victims leads to the arrest of Teacher Lee. Brought to the station, Professor Kwon was also tasked to question him.

Confirming he was sending the letters to him; Professor Kwon was surprised to hear him mention that he received replies. Professor Kwon conveys how he wasted his time and that he does not want to do it anymore.

Teacher Lee realizes where the conversation is heading and gets disappointed to know that it was a one-sided relationship with the professor. He further taunts Professor Kwon just as the prompt for another “killing vote” was received by the citizens. With Teacher Lee being questioned at the station, they realize that there is a group orchestrating the event.

The Killing Vote

“We’ll lose the evidence when voting ends.”

Interestingly, the killing vote target is set, and a bit different from the previous ones. This time, netizens are going to vote if Kim Mu-chan is worthy to be killed after abusing Woo-taek at his trial.

With recent evidence attesting to his acts deemed police brutality, Ju Hyun stands up for him, even pointing a gun at Teacher Lee who was rescued by his mother.

Later, Ju Hyun visits Mu-chan at his place and organizes his messy crime board. Just as Ju Hyun discovers something about the letters received by Professor Kwon, Mu-chan also discovers that the replies the professor did are actually the execution of the killing vote.

Ju Hyun who confronts Professor Kwon is protected by the latter when his team lays out an exit plan for him by driving a truck to where he is detained.

The Killing Vote Episode 8 Musings

This episode of The Killing Vote confirms an organized team of people sharing the advocacy. It also reveals the faces of the members and the true leader.

All along, Professor Kwon had been playing along and probably intended to claim real justice this time. But his team appears to be facing some trouble as one of the members went out of control.

The twist in this episode is truly a surprise because of how the build-up to Teacher Lee was established with conviction.

Ji-hoon, the nurse at the prison, Jin-wook, and maybe more have supported Professor Kwon in his vision to serve real justice and not a forgiving one.

Can Professor Kwon achieve his goal when his target is also dying? Can Mu-chan and Ju Hyun catch “the killing vote” team before it’s too late?
