The King’s Affection Episode 10 Key Moments
“A fun activity belongs to everyone.”
Taking an interest in Dami, Jaeun examines the list of maids to ascertain when and why she departed the palace. Whereas, Ji-un’s disclosure of his love for a palace maid prompts Jaeun to confirm Yi Hwi’s identity. Approaching where the prince is, he notices Ji-un confessing his affection for Yi Hwi.
Reminding Ji-un that they cannot be together, considering Hwi is the Crown Prince of Joseon and he is her subject. She consequently urges him to forget about the drunken night and the conversation they had as if it never happened.
Back at the Prince’s quarters, Yi Hwi gets the Yeson-seon paper, which name Ji-un bestowed upon her when they were young. She also painfully wishes that perhaps it could have been better if they never met again.
The next day, Ji-un is astonished when the Crown Prince pays him a visit. While they both have their lunch, Ji-un inquires of Hwi why she paid him a visit. She merely responds because she can’t stop thinking about the soup.
Ji-un and Yi Hwi enjoy a pleasant and lovely day at the market. When they get at the women’s swing, Ji-un encourages Hwi and reminds her that a fun activity should be enjoyed by everyone regardless of gender.

”You can laugh like today and cry at times too… at least with me.”
As the day draws to a close, both of them seek temporary shelter from the relentless rain. Then, Hwi reveals to Ji-un the true reason for her visit. Informing Ji-un that she sometimes wonders what it might be like to live a normal life outside the palace.
They can laugh whenever they want and cry whenever they want, but Hwi is unable to do so due to certain expectations. Apparently, she is unable to be true to herself while at the palace. Ji-un reassures her that she can laugh as she did today and cry as well, at least when he is there.
However, a tearful Yi Hwi presents him with a letter offering him a better position, and Ji-un inquires as to if she wishes for him to leave. Although it may appear self-centered, Hwi informs him that she is about to marry and then walks away from Ji-un in the pouring rain.
”I didn’t come here to see your father. I came to see you.”
During the Crown Prince’s bride selection, Shin So-eun, the daughter of the Minister of Personnel, appears to have captured Queen Dowager’s heart with her insightful response.
Afterwards, when the selection process is over, Yi Hwi visits the shocked So-eun. Informing Hwi that her father is not yet home. However, Yi Hwi explains that she is not there to visit her father but to see So-eun.
Hwi apologizes for concealing her identity as the prince, and So-eun apologizes for being rude when they first met.
Both of them go for a walk, and Hwi inquires about So-eun’s dream husband from when she was ten. Then, Yi Hwi continues to say that she dreamed of someone brave who would come to her regardless of how long and thorny the journey was. She hopes for someone upright and strong.
Correspondingly, Hwi asks So-eun if she would be so nice as to take that journey. However, she declines her polite request and tells Hwi that she has feelings for someone else.
The King’s Affection Episode 10 Musings
Keeping us intrigued in the current episode of The King’s Affection, the series is up to a breathtaking story as it gives a roller coaster of emotions as well as problems especially the Crown Prince’s arranged marriage.
In the 10th episode, it reveals the king’s reason for opposing Yi Hwi’s marriage. It is not because she is incompetent, but because it reminds him of his youth and his inability to protect his family. The king is determined that what happened to him, he does not want to happen to Yi Hwi.
Moreover, we have numerous rejections from Yi Hwi. On her driving Ji-un away, despite the fact that she wishes him to stay by her side but is unable to due to her responsibilities and duties as the prince.
Ultimately, the way Prince Jaeun held an umbrella for Yi Hwi in the face of heavy downpours, as well as the way she cried and broke down in front of him, makes our hearts ache and wish that the fated couple would be soon together with pain no more.
