The King’s Affection Episode 19 Key Moments

“I could not bear to see you get hurt because of me. And I did not want you to strain your relationship with your father even more.”

To get Yi Hwi’s attention, Ji-un addresses her as Dam-i, her court maid’s name. He then inquires as to whether she is truly Dam-i.

When asked why she did not reveal her real name, Yi Hwi could not bear the thought of Ji-un being hurt because of her. She also does not wish to further disrupt his relationship with his father.

Having considered how difficult it was, Ji-un imagines Yi Hwi’s struggle to look at him without getting glimpses of the past.

In spite of this, Yi Hwi is well aware that Ji-un has also suffered greatly because of his father for a long time. She comforts Ji-un, telling him not to blame himself since neither of them chose the path they have taken.

“I hear he is in possession of the sonangcho. If you know where it is, please tell me.”

Given the fact that their family is already in danger due to Lord Sangheon’s men attacking their home, Ji-un insists on his father informing him where the sonangcho is located.

While Seok-jo is creating a diversion, Ji-un invades Lord Sangheon’s house and obtains the poison that murdered the late King.

Unfortunately, Sangheon’s men apprehended Ji-un before getting out, along with his father, Lady Cho, and Eunuch Hong.

At that very moment, Sangheon retrieves the sonangcho. Yi Hwi arrives with the palace royal guards to rescue them from being killed. Eventually, she captures her grandfather holding the evidence.

“You are a traitor who murdered the late King and framed the innocent. So, who would possibly believe your words?”

Arresting Lord Sangheon at last, Yi Hwi bravely tells her grandfather that she is not scared even if he reveals her secret. Yi Hwi is more likely convinced that no one would believe him because everyone would know that he murdered the late King and falsely framed the innocent.

“No matter what you decide to do, I will not resent you.”

On the day before passing the throne to Prince Jehyeon, Yi Hwi feels she is putting an undue burden on her brother’s shoulders. On the other hand, Ji-un believes that Prince Jehyeon would do well as he begins his reign.

Informing Ji-un that his father has formally reported his crimes, Yi Hwi apologizes to him, since she may never be able to forgive Seok-jo.

Assuring Yi Hwi that she doesn’t have to forgive his father, Ji-un guarantees that he will not resent her regardless of her decision.
