The Law Cafe Episode 12 Highlights

“I want to be your girlfriend. I don’t want you to be my guardian.”

Jung-ho and Yu-ri’s night gets interrupted by Se-yeon and Jin-gi who finds their relationship obvious even though they wanted to keep it a secret for a while.

Knowing Yu-ri for long, Se-yeon talks about Yu-ri’s dating history, where she has been notorious for ruining her own relationships. The same goes with Jung-ho according to Jin-gi’s story about his friend who failed to move on despite going on a lot of dates.

On his way out of his clinic, Woo-jin notices something is off in his umbrella stand and feels anxious on his way home together with Jung-ho and Yu-ri. The next day, Yu-ri notices her plant is missing, but assumes Eun-gang took to water it.

Hearing that the driver that ran over Yu-ri was killed by Lee Pyun-woong, Jung-ho becomes more concerned for Yu-ri. However, his actions don’t translate well to Yu-ri.

“Love makes you crazy, anxious, and scared. It’s only natural.”

Yu-ri bumps into Da-young, whom she has already met in her law cafe. Similar to her motivations in life, Da-young’s outlook as a pro-bono lawyer appeals to Yu-ri, which makes her naturally open up about her dating concerns.

Also troubled by his anxieties in dating, Jung-ho receives advice from Jin-gi that those feelings are natural in relationships.

Woo-jin grows more anxious, and Jung-ho brings him over to Yu-ri’s after Yu-ri reports her house being broken into.

Eating together at night, Woo-jin shares about his past patient who grew obsessed and followed him everywhere. As this stalker of his has rich parents and was promised to be sent abroad, Woo-jin didn’t press charges.

However, now that she came back, he’s having mixed feelings about it, and Yu-ri warmly empathizes with Woo-jin’s hesitancy in charging his past patient.

Jung-ho confirms that a person was hired to follow Woo-jin, and together with the other staff in their building, they catch the man taking pictures nearby.

Aware that other people are also surveilling Yu-ri, President Lee feels the need to intervene since he dislikes sharing his target with others.

“Obsession and violence. When you truly love someone, you can’t be this selfish.”

Jung-ho remains worried for Yu-ri, but she goes out alone and unsuspectingly accepts coffee from Da-young. Complacent with her, Yu-ri agrees on going to Da-young’s house.

Growing weak while seeing her items in Da-young’s house, Yu-ri realizes she is in a dangerous situation. She wakes up, and Da-young asks her about her feelings toward Woo-jin.

Trying to break her delusion, Yu-ri triggers Da-young by not acknowledging her feelings as love and calling it an obsession.

Jung-ho extorts Da-young’s address from the man they caught after hearing that Yu-ri was also being followed, but they arrive at the wrong place.

In time to rescue Yu-ri, President Lee proudly praises himself in front of Yu-ri who deeply abhors him. Da-young escapes, but he remains unbothered since he only came for Yu-ri.

At the police station, Jung-ho gets angry at President Lee despite saving Yu-ri. Calling the president a murderer, Jung-ho gets warned by his uncle not to provoke him.

“Sometimes, there’s nothing more hurtful than love expressed in the wrong way.”

Letting Jung-ho leave without him, Woo-jin goes back to his clinic to confront Da-young who’s already there. Taking in Yu-ri’s advice not to forgive his stalker for her repeated offense, Woo-jin honestly voices his thoughts to Da-young and proceeds to press charges against her.

After fighting Da-young who threatened to kill him, Woo-jin receives a warm hug from Yu-ri. This then makes Se-yeon and Jung-ho confused about the situation.

Despite all those, Jung-ho and Yu-ri stay by Woo-jin’s side as he sleeps. Later resolving their conflict as a couple, Jung-ho decides to calm his fear of losing Yu-ri by agreeing to trust her just as how Jin-gi advised him to do so.

Eun-gang clarifies his behavior to Song-hwa and Yi-seul after being misunderstood for his overly nice behavior.

Discussing their relationship’s pace, Jung-ho and Yu-ri agree to watch a movie together which leads to an intimate night together.

The Law Cafe Episode 12 Musings

Various definitions of love have been offered in this episode. It has been said that it can make a person anxious, and progress into something toxic, especially when wrongly expressed.

Yu-ri and Jung-ho’s relationship is just only seeing its start, and there are for sure no perfect beginnings. Their relationship and clashing beliefs are debatable, but as long as they’re open to resolving it, their relationship could go far as it gets.

Jung-ho’s overprotective attitude could come off as controlling, but somehow also necessary because of his uncle who is determined to harm anyone who attacks him.

Obsession is never considered love, and not knowing your boundaries as an admirer or even as a fan can bring legal liabilities just like the consequence Da-young faced for her problematic behavior.

Pressed to save his target for selfish reasons, President Lee saves Yu-ri, and the direction of his actions is wild. Though the direction of their battle is unclear, Jung-ho and Yu-ri have surely gotten him more riled up.
