The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract Episodes 7 and 8 Highlights

“I carried a huge rock with me. While enduring it every day, I vowed never to lose anything to her ever again.”

Having regained consciousness, Tae-ha opens up to Yeon-woo about how his mother died before his eyes in the annex. Unsurprisingly, Hye-sook was behind it. And since then, Tae-ha vowed never to lose anything to her again. But seeing how nothing changed even after those years, Tae-ha feels helpless.

Yeon-woo assures him it isn’t true. Despite the pain, Tae-ha mustered up the courage and got into the annex to save her. And he isn’t alone anymore. Yeon-woo is by his side. And no matter what it takes, she will relieve him of the rock burdening him.

As remorseless as ever, Hye-sook blames it all on Yeon-woo for stepping into the annex. Then, she summons Yeon-woo to play the mother-in-law role, causing Tae-ha to rush over. He asks Yeon-woo to always stay in his sight so he won’t worry about her. And yeah. It is because he likes her. We have a confession here.

“That absolutely can’t happen. Neither I nor Yeon-woo will give up on the first-anniversary event.”

Before they can address their feelings, our leads have some trouble to deal with. To start with, Yeon-woo’s designs were leaked on the internet. It isn’t Hye-sook, though, but an employee with an obsessive crush on Tae-ha who also works as Grandpa’s spy.

Going against his grandpa for probably the first time, Tae-ha refuses to quit the first anniversary exhibition or have Yeon-woo resign. They will see it through to the end. And our girl is nothing but persistent, starting over and coming up with more beautiful designs. Way to go, girl!

“30 minutes. Give me 30 minutes. I will make a new piece, no matter what.”

Another hurdle hits when the models are no-show on the event day, which makes Tae-ha bow down to Hye-sook and ask for help. Think it is over? No. A garment was found torn minutes before the show was supposed to begin. And now, there is no choice but to take out all the clothes Yeon-woo designed and replace them with Mi-dam’s.

Luckily, with help from Tae-min and Sa-wol buying some time, Yeon-woo alters the design and makes it to the show. Our girl hasn’t come this far only to give up. She has finally achieved her dream of making clothes in her name, “Park Yeon-woo.” And Tae-ha looks at her with proud eyes.

“I wanted to play dumb until the end. I was worried you would try to find traces of him in me.”

With the exhibition being a success, it is time to talk it out. Tae-ha wants Yeon-woo to look at him for himself and not the traces of her dead husband. And though Yeon-woo might be confused about how she feels. One thing is for sure. Whom she is looking at is Tae-ha and not the traces of anyone. The lovely moment is sealed with a kiss. Hooray. Our ship is sailing.

As an award for pulling off the event, Tae-ha takes everyone on a trip to Jeju island. Yeon-woo is excited to see the ocean for the first time. And looking at her, Tae-ha can’t help but smile. Unfortunately, the fun is cut short as yet again Hye-sook makes a move.

“I am not interested in dating and I have no time for it. The contract is up anyway.”

Using her recent discovery about Tae-ha’s illness, Hye-sook proposes his dismissal at the board meeting. Hearing the news, Tae-ha packs up and rushes over to Seoul. Worried about Yeon-woo getting entangled in this mess, Tae-ha walks down the noble idiocy path and calls off the marriage contract. The timing couldn’t be any worse. Yeon-woo was confessing her feelings, and Tae-ha’s answer was to end it all.

Adding to Tae-ha’s troubles, his heart condition has been deteriorating. And seeing how his illness keeps getting worse over a short time, I suspect foul play here. Was Hye-sook poisoning him all along?

“Are you going to run away again? Are you going to hide your pain like a fool and not tell me about your hardships?”

Tae-ha’s plan to handle this? Take everything upon himself and keep Yeon-woo in the dark about his deteriorating condition and the dismissal. But luckily, that doesn’t last for long. Tae-ha gives in to his feelings and goes to see Yeon-woo. And overhearing Mr. Hong, Yeon-woo learns the truth and heads out to see Tae-ha. They come across each other in the rain and reconcile.

With a better mindset, Tae-ha finds his answer to Hye-sook’s recent move. He apologizes for keeping his illness a secret and suggests they recruit a management specialist for the president’s position. Who said only the chairman’s family can fill this position? To your face, Hye-sook.

“My lady, we must go. Let’s get out of this place.”

While this idea hits a blow to Hye-sook’s plans to reveal Tae-ha’s contract marriage as well, it doesn’t seem Grandpa is on board. He can tolerate Tae-ha hiding his illness or contractual marriage, but not this.

Still, they can’t be as shocked as Yeon-woo, who finally learns the purpose behind the time travel. To achieve her “desires,” Joseon Hye-sook had Tae-ha poisoned and Yeon-woo thrown in the well, disguising it as a heartbroken woman taking her life after her husband’s death. (That is also how Yeon-woo’s watch made its way to Grandpa.)

That is not all. It looks like Yeon-woo’s father discovered what happened. So, Joseon Hye-sook had him killed as well. What an evil woman! Shocked, Yeon-woo passes out in front of “the virtuous woman’s” grave, which supposedly belongs to her.

The Story Of Park’s Marriage Contract Episodes 7 and 8 Musings

The plot is thickening. But I am glad the drama keeps its light-hearted moments. Sa-wol is a delight to watch. Be it her sisterly relationship with Yeon-woo, badmouthing Tae-ha for making Yeon-woo sad, or her cute side romance with Mr. Hong with her taking the lead.

I wish we could say the same about Tae-min. Though his character started off as intriguing, it was all brushed off. Instead of solely existing to harbor an unrequited crush on Yeon-woo and help her, it would have been more interesting to get an alliance between the two equally hurt brothers against Hye-sook and Grandpa, who are just as manipulative.

Follow Yeon-woo as she solves the mystery of her time-traveling journey in The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract! International fans can watch it on Viu!
