The Uncanny Counter 2 Episodes 9 and 10 Highlights

The episode begins with So-mun being in a coma while Gelly is laughing like a maniac. Pil-gwang is furious and grabs Gelly in the throat for ruining his plan.

Just before he kills her to consume her soul, the Counters save Gelly. They know that Pil-gwang will grow stronger if he happens to consume Gelly and they can’t allow that.
Jeok-bong tries to escape with So-mun but Joo-seok stops him.

Fortunately, Jang-mul arrives and saves the day. He brought a big gun and chain of bullets and fired at Joo-seok and Pil-gwang.

“We need to show him that he doesn’t need to protect us and that we can protect him.”

This gives the Counters time to escape. They bring So-mun somewhere safe and Mae-ok tries to cure him but it is not working and he is still in a coma. Wi-gen also disappears and stuck in what they call “White Ground”.

Only those in a coma can enter that place and they need So-mun to find and reunite with Wi-gen and sign the Counter contract again to restore his powers and regain consciousness.

Ha-na thinks it’s the best time to hunt down Gelly since she severed ties with Pil-gwang but the spirits think otherwise.

“How does it feel to be attacked in the dark? You thought darkness was your friend?”

Meanwhile, Joo-seok confronts Pil-gwang about his real intentions which he does not deny and angers the former. Joo-seok is about to leave but Pil-gwang stops him and tells him to wait because the Counters will lead them to Lee Chung-jae.

Jang-mul meets So-mun grandparents to make up an excuse for his absence. He also brought So-mun’s friends to where he is and they help in taking care of him.

Those in the Spirit Office think that So-mun is not in a coma but his soul is hiding inside his body. Ha-na holds his head and tries to communicate with him in his mind.

She sees So-mun who is discouraged from being close to anyone because he believes that everyone around him dies. Ha-na thinks that this is because the last thing So-mun sees is them fighting so he thinks they might be dead.

Now, Ha-na needs to convince So-mun that everything will be alright. They hope that So-mun’s willpower will come back.

Meanwhile, Mae-ok visits Jae-youl and invites him to eat. Jae-youl realizes that Mae-ok was the one who saved him in the past. But Mae-ok tells him that it was actually, Jae-youl who saved her and helped her get back on her feet.

She tells Jae-youl that now, he needs to do what is right. But he said that it was too late because Lee Chung-jae was leaving that night. While Mae-ok calls Mo-tak to inform him, Jae-youl disappears.

Mo-tak encourages the team that they can handle the situation even if So-mun is not around. But Gelly gets to Lee Chung Jae first. Good thing, the Counters arrive shortly. Ha-na handles Gelly with the help of Jeok-bong while Mo-tak and Mae-ok goes after Lee Chung Jae.

Ha-na finally defeats Gelly and summons the evil spirit. On the other hand, Lee Chung Jae fires at Mae-ok but is saved by Jae-youl. Mo-tak arrives and deals with Lee Chung-jae and sends him to the police. The Counters are so happy to defeat Gelly and handle Lee Chung-jae on their own.

“You’re not alone, Mun. Believe in all the moments that we spent together.”

Meanwhile, Joo-seok gets information from Jang-mul and sees their hideout. Jang-mul informs Joo-seok that Lee Chung-jae has been caught along with the money. Then, Joo-seok leaves him quietly. Jang-mul informs the Counters of this incident.

Elsewhere, Gelly is inside the police car when Pil-gwang intercepts and kill her, consuming her soul. At their headquarters, Ha-na tells the others that she will enter So-mun’s mind again and make sure to bring him back.

She sees So-mun being confronted by their enemies one by one. Making him feel afraid and weak. Ha-na pulls him away but the scene changes to the time they are fighting Pil-gwang and Joo-seok in the hotel. So-mun sees the lifeless bodies of his fellow Counters and blames himself.

Ha-na tells him it is not true. So-mun does not believe her and the scene changes again to the time of So-mun’s parents’ accident. Ha-na tells So-mun to leave with her but So-mun just stands there blankly. Ha-na then sees the truck rushing towards them, she stands between So-mun and the truck, then suddenly, So-mun wakes up and stops everything around them.

So-mun asks her about everyone and she tells him that they are all waiting for him and that they can protect him too. Ha-na soon returns while So-mun goes to Wi-gen first before going back to his team.

Meanwhile, Joo-seok shows concern for So-mun as he remembers their memories together. He is about to leave Pil-gwang to just focus on his revenge when Pil-gwang stops him and tries to kill him to get his powers and become stronger.

Just then, So-mun regains consciousness and triggers the territory. Joo-seok is able to absorb the territory’s power and attacks Pil-gwang. The former subdues Pil-gwang and leaves. Alone, Pil-gwang envies Joo-seok’s powers.

The evil spirit inside Joo-seok’s body was surprised by the power it gets from the territory and was happy to be able to control Joo-seok under his own free will. On the other hand, everyone welcomes Wi-gen and So-mun.

“One thing is certain. I’m not like you.”

While eating, So-mun thanks everyone for protecting him while he is in a coma. Jang-mul accidentally shares that Joo-seok knows about their headquarters and visited So-mun’s grandmother.

Worried, So-mun visits his grandparents the next day. He sees her grandmother waiting for Joo-seok. When he holds her hand, he sees her interaction with Joo-seok. The latter looks so lonely and miserable. Meanwhile, Mo-tak makes Lee Chung-jae his bait to get Joo-seok.

The plan is going on smoothly until Joo-seok takes over the police bus and controls it. He drives the bus to Minji’s cemetery to kill himself and Lee Chung-jae. Unknown to him, his mother visited Minji and heard from one of the police officers what he was doing and she tried to stop Joo-seok.

Lee Chung-jae gets the chance to escape from the bus. Joo-seok runs after him but is interrupted by his mother again. This time, the evil spirit takes control of Joo-seok’s body and grab his mother’s neck.

Joo-seok is shock by what is happening but he can’t do anything. Fortunately, So-mun arrives and saves Joo-seok’s mother. So-mun activates the territory but is surprised when he sees that Joo-seok can also absorb its power and become stronger.

Then, Joo-seok attacks So-mun and almost hurts him. But when he barely gets back control of his body, he attacks himself instead and So-mun and leaves immediately. Mo-tak sees this and thinks that So-mun let Joo-seok escape.

In the Spirit Immigration Office, they talk about the territory. It no longer belongs to the Counters only. The spirits tell the Counters that when the evil spirit absorbs the territory’s power it takes more control of Joo-seok.

So-mun tells them that Joo-seok is in a dilemma and wants to stop but is being controlled by the evil spirit. He thinks that they should talk and persuade him. However, Mo-tak is against it and only sees Joo-seok as an evil spirit they need to catch.

“The human part of him is being swayed right now. This could be our last chance to persuade him.”

Alone, Joo-seok tell the evil spirit to get out of his body but it tells him it’s impossible now. He tries to kill himself but he can’t even do it because of the evil spirit.
So-mun takes care of Joo-seok’s mother, wiping out all the memories of the incident. She tells So-mun that she hopes that Joo-seok will return and someone will help to save him.

The next day, Mo-tak is in prison talking to Lee Chung-jae. The latter tells him that he has evidence that proves that Pil-gwang is the real mastermind behind the housing scam. The Counters watch the video but decide not to show it to Joo-seok because it will trigger his rage.

They try to let So-mun persuade Joo-seok by talking to him through the territory. They plan to do this right away before Pil-gwang does something to ruin their plan.

“Come down from that hill. I’ll make everything right. So, you should return to your old self when you see Ms. Lee again.”

Unfortunately, Pil-gwang goes to visit Lee Chung-jae first. So-mun contacts Joo-seok through the territory. He informs him that his mother is okay and being taken care of. So-mun tells him that it is not too late to turn things around.

He promises to help him make everything right and return to his old self. Joo-seok is touched by So-mun’s words and decides to meet him. The evil spirit is suppressed inside him.

However, Pil-gwang has a plan of his own. He goes to a broadcasting station carrying Lee Chung-jae’s head while the Counters are waiting for Joo-seok’s arrival in the hospital. Soon, they see Pil-gwang on television broadcasting live as he confesses to all the crimes he committed.

From being the mastermind behind the scam, killing people, and also being the real murderer of Min-ji. Angered Joo-seok watches this and goes to where Pil-gwang is. He grabs Pil-gwang and finally sees the memory of Min-ji being killed by the former.

Pil-gwang continues to provoke Joo-seok until he finally kills Pil-gwang and consumes his soul. Pil-gwang slowly enters the black pool where the evil spirit inside Joo-seok’s body is and kills it to finally take over Joo-seok’s body and gain the power of the evil spirit.

The Uncanny Counter 2 Episodes 9 and 10 Musings

Wow! It has finally come to this. We are all expecting this to happen. Pil-gwang’ s plan to get Ma Joo-seok’s power finally happened.

We all know that this is really his grand plan. And now that it’s finally here, we can’t wait to see how the Counters will handle this.

It is inescapable to feel both excited and worried at the same time, of course. This action-packed penultimate weak also made sure to bring out the proper motivation for So-mun.

While So-mun is in a coma, the Counters prove that they too can find a way to protect him. They all work hard while waiting for him to come back. Now that they are complete, it’s time to show their real power to defeat Pil-gwang.

We definitely can’t wait to see the final showdown happen before our very eyes.

While the story gave us a slight hope that Joo-seok still has a chance to be saved and become his old self again, it, unfortunately, broke our hearts when his relentless pursuit for revenge led to his demise.

We feel sorry for his mother and So-mun. It will be heartbreaking to watch Joo-seok die.

Will we be able to see Jeok-bong’s real power in the finale? Let’s hope so or else we don’t know why he is in the second season in the first place.

As for Kang Ki Young, we will miss him because of his superb portrayal of Pil-gwang’s character but at the same time, we can look forward to how Jin Sun Kyu will give life to the new Pil-gwang in Ma Joo-seok’s body.

Consistent in its weekly run, the creators also save the best for last. All this anticipation and excitement will be answered as we wait for the finale this weekend.
