You are my Spring Episode 8 Key Moments
“That night, you embraced the 11-year-old me who had lost his brother, the 26-year-old me who had lost his patient, and the foolish me who dared to lose you because I was scared to hurt you.”
When Da-Jung came back to Young-do’s house, she knocks and gives Young-do a warm hug.
Young-do felt that Da-Jung hugs his younger self that experiences heavy problems during his childhood.

“Embracing and warming someone’s body with your temperature is a more sincere act of affection than mere words.”
Meanwhile, when Young-do recovered from his fever, his friend Ha-neul greets him with a warm hug. Young-do smiles, because to him hugs are more affectionate than words.
In a coffee shop, Young-do’s friends, Ha-neul and Seung-won are talking about Young-do’s feelings for Da-jung.
They imagine several things that might happen on that night because Ha-neul saw Da-jung leaving Young-do’s apartment. It seems that Young-do’s friends are excited for their friend to have another relationship.
“I can’t even take a bite of the cookie he gave me, and he can’t even throw away the forsythia twig I gave him. Do you think we can become friends?”
These were the words that Da-jung has written because she is confused about their relationship. At the back of her mind, there is a doubt that they can become just friends.
When Ga-young called Da-Jung telling her that she would be back, Ga-young claims that they are already friends.
Since Ga-young and Patrick were on a date, Patrick explains to Ga-young that maybe a person that Da-Jung likes wanted to be only just friends with her.
“Is it crazy to like someone if you can’t promise to be with them forever?”
On a radio station where Young-do is guesting, an anonymous sender asks for a piece of advice about her current situation.
With the username “Rooftop Rabbit,” Young-do feels that the story of the woman fits their current situation. He went blank and had a buffer moment to answer the sender.
“I think he asked her to be friends because he was afraid of hurting her. I think he wanted her to go somewhere safe. I think he might’ve failed to realize his true feelings.”
After a while, Young-do answers the sender and justifies his side. Many listeners hated Young-do because of his actions, however, there are some that understand his side.
Later on, Young-do blurts out that maybe the man just wanted the woman to stay by her side, without risking anything.
“I’ve also come to like you, I won’t say that either. We don’t need to promise to be together forever. I don’t know and will never know what “forever” really means anyway.”
Da-jung meets Young-do at the playground and they talk again about what happened. Da-jung relays that she doesn’t know forever and that she is grateful for the little time they would have.
Then, Ian Chase and Da-jung meet near the hotel. He treats Da-jung and the kid with ice cream. The seller of the ice cream thought that they are a family and they make a good couple.
“Do you like some beer, my friend?”
Moreover, Ga-young buy drinks to Da-jung. Ga-young now then meets Eun-Ha and they clicked as friends because Eun-Ha seems to like Patrick.
“I wish I was unconscious right now.”
Since Da-jung apartment is on top of Young-do’s clinic, Young-do hears some glasses shatter and immediately went to Da-jung.
When they are cleaning, Young-do saw the cookies he gave to Da-jung resting on a towel with sticker notes that include their names.
This makes Da-jung so embarrassed as she runs towards Young-do explaining her side. However, she rips the buttons of Young-do’s shirt making the situation more awkward.
Ending the episode, Ian Chase calls Da-jung to meet at a coffee shop. When Da-jung came to the shop, she saw Ian holding a paper flower that reminds him of Jung-Min.
Suddenly, Young-do appears gripping her wrist.
You Are My Spring Episode 8 Musings
I find this episode a little light. The unveiling of the mystery of Ian and his twin brother is a bit slowing down though.
However, the relationship of Young-do and Da-jung is an example of a mature relationship that sees all the sides of having a commitment.
Since they both have past relationships, it’s a good thing to tell the viewers that relationships are not easy things to have.
Meanwhile, I also loved how Ha-Neul and Seung-Won supported Young-do when it comes to relationships. They depict many friends who gave full supports to their friend’s love life.
I just hope that the next episodes of You Are My Spring would give viewers a more fast-paced story about Ian Chase and his twin, because viewers might be getting bored. It is honestly beginning to feel borderline languid. A little thrill won’t hurt.
