Having started as a disreputable accountant, Hwang Dong-joo (Im Si Wan) now works as an investigator for the National Tax Service (NTS). Yet instead of being assigned to a renowned department, he is transferred to division five, a dumping ground for cases other sections find too tough or unappealing to handle.
Following his father’s sudden death, Dong-joo started investigating his father’s death. Seo Hye-young (Go Ah Sung) gives him hope when she reveals her concerns about his father’s death. She gives him all the information she acquired as part of the audit team in the hopes that he would notice anything she overlooked.
Using his former experience in the field and with the support of team investigator Seo Hye Young and Chief Oh Young (Park Yong Woo), Dong-Joo is determined to exact justice by dismantling the current system and taking down Executive Director In Tae Joon (Son Hyun Joo) along with it.

Tracer did an excellent job of conveying to its audience that we cannot change a corrupt system if people remain ignorant of the wrongdoings of those in power. In the drama, because villains are free to do as they please, the cycle of injustice circles repeatedly and creates an increasing number of victims.
It also highlights how these injustices shape the lives of their victims and everyone around them. Fortunately, the show gave its characters a chance to move forward from their tragic pasts and allowed them to start over down a better path.

Tracer takes a realistic touch to action and revenge drama while sparing you from the unnecessary gunshots and gang fights that these genres usually have.
However, since it is a story following an unfamiliar and specialized field, there are certain terms that most viewers that have no knowledge about finance might find hard to understand and follow.
On the other hand, the show features fantastic actors fit for their roles. I cannot imagine anybody else portraying Dong Joo’s arrogance and sarcasm as effectively as Im Si Wan.
Besides our feisty protagonist, the rest of the cast also has noteworthy qualities. In this drama, the supporting characters aren’t just observers. They are actively participating, and their actions contribute to the flow of the story.
Additionally, the writers crafted well-written antagonists. I admired how the show presented their backstories to explain their actions without ever using them to justify their atrocities.
Moreover, despite having a heavy atmosphere, Tracer made sure to deliver a fair share of humorous moments between the characters.
This drama does not contain romance. Instead, it focuses on building the characters’ friendship and loyalty.
