Taxi Driver Episodes 5 – 8 Key Moments

The Rainbow Deluxe Taxi team takes the case of Young-min. After exposing the evil nature of the boss in the company he worked for previously, he was gravely assaulted. But before Prosecutor Kang can even work her magic, her superior already denounced her hand on the case.

Picking up the trashed case, the RDT team decides to bring justice to Young-min by infiltrating the company. Do-ki transforms into a trashy employee to get to the good side of the CEO so he can enter the core team. Through Go-eun’s digital technology maneuvering, the team is proceeding efficiently.

Meanwhile, Prosecutor Kang is keen to defy her superiors in tracing the atrocities of the company they are obviously shielding. She chances upon Do-ki who revealed he became a new employee because of their furtive mission. Discovering the heinous act of the company she was investigating, she hands it to Jang Sung-chul. But when he read through the files, it was too late for him to warn the team.

Apparently, Do-ki’s new role has given him access to an illegal website stored in the cloud company. Sadly, it features Go-eun’s dead sister’s illegal sex video which pushed the latter to commit suicide. Thankfully, Go-eun regains her confidence and finds the server that would end all the evil businessman’s power.

Taxi Driver Mid-Series Musings

Taxi Driver is the perfect example of presenting exaggerated bravado that makes sense. Choosing a relatable situation, amplifying the wickedness of the villains, and bestowing the right amount of justice seems to be the signature trademark of the series. Interestingly, it does not bore viewers and drives a hook to anticipate more of what it can offer.

I had a good laugh in the scene of Do-ki’s first day at work witnessing what appears like a crazy cult following meeting a la Great Gatsby. In a way, it presented the idea of how corporate employees succumb to being blinded by the values dictated by the workplace. A sad truth being tolerated to keep the job that pays. With that, it really felt gratifying how the team worked to seek justice for all the lives victimized without their consent and by selfish means.

Sympathizing with Young-min for having to bear such cruelty when he just only wants to work is given. After all, who does not have any direct or indirect experience of workplace violence and emotional pains?

Likewise, Taxi Driver also sheds light on the alarming situation of women violated by sexual predators. The series even empathized at the closing scenes of how shutting down the company could be futile if there are people craving for the service. Presenting societal issues that matter is one of the strongest suits of this drama.

What To Look Forward To?

Crossing the middle mark, the serial killer under Baek Sung-mi’s custody escaped and sought vengeance to Jang Sung Chul. Prosecutor Kang inevitably would piece out the clues pointing to Do-ki’s real identity.

One thing that is hard to assess in this series is if there would be a grand conflict planned or it will proceed in creating the big picture through its given cases. Though it might work, it has to maintain the gravitating points of topics it will feature. A feat it has achieved with conviction in its first half. Portrayal-wise, Lee Je Hoon, Esom, and the rest of the main cast are showing impeccable synergy.

Next week’s episodes hinted at exploring the world of voice phishing which definitely would appeal to any audience.
