“Boyhood” Teases With Retro Stills Featuring Im Si Wan and Co-Stars

The new Coupang Play series has confirmed its release in November and drops more stills highlighting its lead stars.

Set in 1989, Boyhood tells the story of Jang Byung-tae, a loser whose life goal is not to be bullied. Moving to a new school, he transforms into the school’s best boy overnight. It also features the friendly and humorous Chungcheong lifestyle and humor.

Previously, the first set of filming photos captured Byung-tae, a loner mistaken as the “best boy” on the first day of school at Buyeo Agricultural High School.

Portraying Byung-tae is Im Si Wan whose popular works include The Attorney, Misaeng, Run On and Tracer. In Boyhood, the actor aims to show off his polar opposite charm that goes back and forth between timidity and boldness and heralds the birth of another memorable character.

Next, Lee Sun Bin, who made a mark with her unique acting in the drama Work Later Drink Now, plays the role of Buyeo’s black spider Park Ji-young.

Newcomer Lee Si Woo takes the role of Asan’s White Tiger, Jung Kyung-tae. Lastly, Kang Hye Won characterizes the role of Kang Sun-hwa, a high school girl who shakes the hearts of Gyung-tae and all the male students.

Notably, Boyhood is helmed by director Lee Myung-woo, a hitmaker who created numerous popular works The Fiery Priest, Backstreet Rookie, and the Coupang Play series One Ordinary Day.

Correspondingly, the second set of character photos released this time contains the colorful charms of unique characters against the backdrop of Buyeo Agricultural High School in Chungcheong Province in the 1980s.

Byung-tae is seen with a frightened expression holding a shovel. When he moves to a new place and school, he becomes the best schoolboy in Buyeo, reigning over his friends and sporting a confident smile, a completely different change that happened overnight. It foretells the dynamic daily life of a loser who has become the best.

Meanwhile, the surprised expression of Ji-young a reclusive black spider in Buyeo who treats others with how strong or weak a person is, amplifies curiosity.

In addition, Kyung-tae, who conquered a local school with just one fist, shows his strong charisma as he stares at someone. Then, Sun-hwa who shakes the hearts of all male students, forms an attraction with Byung-tae amplifying curiosity.

Boyhood is gearing up for its November premiere on Coupang Play!
