Kim Nam Gil Ventures On A Peculiar Journey With Cha Eun Woo, Lee Da Hee, & Sung Joon In Drama “Island”

Island

Lauded actors confirmed their roles in Island, paving the way for the emergence of a unique Korean-style fantasy hero-centric story.

Island is a fantasy action series based on Yoon In-wan and Yang Kyung-il’s Naver webtoon of the same name.

Director Bae Jong wields the megaphone once again to provide not only genre entertainment but also a rich depth of immersion. He received praise for his expert handling of humanism and action in films like Welcome to Dongmakgol and Fabricated City.

As such, Island, which confirmed the appearance of Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, Cha Eun Woo, and Sung Joon, delivers a fresh story that could not be seen anywhere else.

Island Main Cast

Kim Nam Gil, best known for his dramas The Fiery Priest, The Guest, and Live Up To Your Name, battles evil on an island in preparation for the end of the world, but he simultaneously battles humanity.

He plays Ban, a melancholy figure raised in a tragic existence. Ban’s destiny is to save the world even as he abandons himself. He agonizes over what is truly worth saving. Additionally, fans will anticipate Kim’s delivery of the changing character’s emotional journey.

Lee Da Hee evolves into Won Mi Ho, a third-generation chaebol and a teacher. Mi-ho is a woman who leads an unsatisfactory life in Jeju Island, unaware of her fate.

Indeed, Lee preps to seamlessly melt into the story with her impressive acting abilities. She last worked in dramas Luca: The Beginning, Search WWW, and The Beauty Inside. Viewers should undoubtedly be on the lookout for her acting chemistry with Kim Nam Gil in Island.

Cha Eun Woo, on the other hand, plays John, a hip Catholic exorcist. John is a great figure with a noble mission to preserve life and purify evil, but he also has a bleak and dark past.

The idol-actor has portrayed his roles convincingly in a variety of genres, including True Beauty, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, and My ID is Gangnam Beauty.

Finally, Sung Joon plays Gungtan, who was raised as a slayer in order to combat evil alongside Ban. However, following the fate-splitting occurrence, he confronts the class and injects an exhilarating twist into the story’s flow.

Sung Joon, who leaves a lasting impression in his works, including the films Ghost Mansion, The Villainess, and the drama High Society, piques interest in how he would depict Gungtan’s subtle psychological transformations. This drama plans to reinterpret it in a modern way that boosts anticipation for the audience.

Meanwhile, Island is the first project to yield fruit as a result of a business collaboration agreement between YLab and Studio Dragon.

Island commences filming in October with the goal of airing in the first half of next year.
