Netflix’s New Series “Parasite: The Gray” Names Lead Cast

An intriguing series is underway for Netflix with Director Yeon Sang Ho confirmed to helm the production.

Based on Hitoshi Iwaaki’s manga, Parasite: The Gray depicts the story of how humans try to stop an unidentified parasite that has fallen from space. It begins to kill and create its own power with humans as hosts.

Notably, the manga “Parasite: The Gray” has sold over 25 million copies in over 20 regions and countries for its clever, imaginative and philosophical message about “parasites that control the human brain”.

The enthralling narrative meets Korea’s genre master director Yeon Sang Ho of Hellbound and Train To Busan fame. He is set to direct and co-write the series adaptation. Additionally, it heralds the expansion of Yeonniverse (Yeonsangho Universe).

Director Yeon Sang-ho, who has raised sharp questions about human nature through the group of humans living in a chaotic society, stimulates curiosity about how to recreate the worldview of ‘parasitic water’ in Korea.

Also, expectations are rising about how Director Yeon will visualize and make parasites in reality. Writer Ryu Yong-jae of Money Heist Korea adds strength by participating in the co-writing.

Affirming the lead cast of the series; Parasite: The Gray stars Jeon So Nee takes the role of Jung Soo-in . She got infected by the parasite. But she starts a strange cohabitation with the parasite that failed to steal his brain. The actress is known for her roles in When My Love Blooms and Encounter.

Koo Kyo Hwan who is loved for his roles in D.P and Escape From Mogadishu reunites with Director Yeon since Peninsula is one of the main leads in the series.

Portraying Seol Kang-woo, he chases after the parasite water to find his missing sister.

Finally, Lee Jung Hyun (Peninsula, Decision To Break Up) plays Choi Joon-kyung, the team leader of a task force “The Gray”. She only lives for the purpose of eradicating the parasitic water.

Parasite: The Gray is produced by Climax Studio, which has produced hits such as Hellbound and D.P and WOW POINT, a global content production company, and will be released on Netflix.
