The cryptic character who summoned the sapsali is officially introduced in the 5th episode of Alchemy of Souls.
It looks like Wook is going to learn a thing or two from him since Mu-deok insists on taking advantage of meeting a legendary mage master.
Jin Ho-gyeong brings up a solution for the duel not to proceed. However, Master Park and Maidservant Jin who are both believers in “true love” refuse the idea.

Alchemy of Souls Episode 5 Highlights
In the last episode of Alchemy of Souls, the mage energy Master Heo put inside Wook rippled quickly. It even made him cut the crown prince’s sword using Jang Gang’s sword.
Still choosing to make Wook avert being noticed so as not to stir trouble in the royal family, Master Park denounced his ability since he cannot control the hand where the pool of energy is concentrated.
Upon learning about the encounter between Crown Prince Go Won and Wook, Jin Mu negotiates with Master Heo.
The deal leads to another duel match between Wook and Won in three weeks. Meanwhile, Mu-deok brings Wook to Naksu’s hometown to train.
“I don’t know if I toughened up to survive or if I survived because I was tough enough.”
In a flashback, we see young Naksu witnessing the death of her father at the hands of Master Park. Her nanny hid her and tells her to avoid her father at all costs. After the bloodshed in their residence, she then joined hands with Jin Mu who trained her to become an assassin.
Back in the present time, Mu-deok and Wook reach Naksu’s old place and was surprised to see a well-kept house complete with amenities, food and drinks.
Wook playfully thought that Mu-deok planned a romantic getaway for them when he was about to drink some tea. So she gives him permission to drink it regardless of whether the tea is poisoned or not.
Meanwhile, at Songrim, the 11 families of mages gather about the duel raised between a mage and a royal family member. Varying opinions arise, ultimately, the duel was sealed even if it will cause the mage families humiliation or not.
“A great soul has shifted into this body. She should have run wild by now, judging by how weak this body looks. How is she still fine?”
After bathing, Wook sees Mu-deok passed out from exhaustion. Contemplating whether he will give the comfy bed or not, he ended up letting Mu-deok take the bed.
In the middle of a rainy night, the dweller of the house, Master Lee, who was introduced previously to have summoned the sapsali arrived. He checks on Mu-deok whom he easily assessed to be bearing a great soul. Just as he continues his probe he felt the presence of Wook who woke up from slumber.
Removing the binding bracelet, he tried to defend his master. However, Wook is no match for him. The next day, Mu-deok wakes up from a strange dream. Curious about Mu-deok, Master Lee decides to investigate her.
Later, Mu-deok realized Master Lee is the renowned mage and asks him to train Wook so he can control the energy focused on his right arm.
Master Lee agrees, but Wook has to practice temporary celibacy for the goal. Arguing with his master, Mu-deok insisted that luck was on his side to have met such a rare master.
“It means you are getting stronger. Right now, it may seem insignificant, but your energy will soon add up, And your energy will be soon as awe-inspiring as Lake Gyeongcheondaeho. Then, I will also be able to regain my power.”
Master Park brings the mages from Songrim to Cheonbugwan to investigate the soul shifter. But Jin Mu quickly disposed of the dead body the soul shifter recently killed leaving the spirit plaque belonging to Wook.
With that, Master Park asks Yul and Dang-gu to visit Wook to inquire how and where the spirit plaque was lost.
Deviating from the plan she had in mind about Wook’s training, Mu-deok chides him for not working on buffing himself up when the duel is soon to happen.
Wook argues wanting to live a serene life so, she spitefully reminds him of how their fates had been intertwined. Later, Mu-deok goes to the city to visit the gisaeng house with the intention of spreading a rumor of how Wook has been preparing well.
When Kil-ju sees her, he apprehends her and tries to bring her to Cheonbugwan. Quickly seeking help from Prince Go Won, Mu-deok humors him and requests to order the men trying to get her back off.
“I wanted to give everything up and lead a quiet life. But one thing keeps bothering me.”
Wook gets his master back just as Master Lee steals the petrified victim of the soul shifter. Yul and Dang-gu also reach Danhyanggok and meet Wook and drunk Mu-deok.
At Songrim, Maidservant Kim and Master Park relay Jin Ho-gyeong’s suggestion to wed Wook and Cho-yeon since Jin family has a special privilege to request anything from the royal family.
Gladly agreeing, Master Heo shoves away the true love talk that both Maidservant Kim and Master Park insisted on as the reason for the wedding not to proceed.
He tells them to acquiesce to Ho-gyeong’s proposal on the basis that he has first-hand experience of turning back on his master for love.
Just then, Master Kim arrives in front of Sejukwon calling his old student who turns out to be Master Heo.
Wook finds Mu-deok standing in front of the tree she used to stand on with her might. Lamenting her inability to do it now, Wook asks if she wants to climb the tree and he will help her.
She agrees to his suggestion while staring at him intently.

Along with the looming conflict in Alchemy of Souls, the side romance stories are also shaping up to hurt not just the characters but us viewers. *chuckles
Fatedly, we can see unreturned and probably mutual love happen that would shake the dynamics of character connections in the series.
Acquainting viewers with Master Kim, more magical details about the mages of Daeho are set to be unlocked. Could he be the iconic mage previously mentioned in the conversation between Master Heo and Master Park.
Master Kim’s mission of unraveling the oddity of the alchemy of souls inside Mu-deok previews the technicalities involved in soul shifting. From the information we’ve been getting so far, we seem to be learning a lot from him.
Having an equally smart villain like Jin Mu makes us worry about Master Park’s protection going futile imminently. On that note, we definitely noticed how he eyed at the tablet Master Park checked at Cheonbugwan.
What would Master Kim bring into the exciting plot development of the narrative? Will Daeho celebrate a wedding between two formidable mage families?
