Along with that, transmigrations of the souls of people related and acquainted with the hero over the course of time are also introduced in the present timeline. Lucky for him, the 15-year search reaches a positive light. However, it seems his cryptic connection with Sang-un is deeply entrenched and complicated.

Bulgasal Immortal Souls

Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Episode 3 Key Moments

The Sword To Kill A Bulgasal

Sang-un proceeds to research how to give an end to the curse by finding the sword to kill a bulgasal. At the same time, Hwal checks on all the people he asked to help look for Sang-un which he has been chasing for the last 15 years.

Confronting a reincarnated monster, Sang-un learned how a lot of monsters are chasing after her since getting Hwal’s soul who was cursed by a monster he previously killed.

It is also revealed that Sang-un is sister to Si-ho, the reincarnation of Dan Sol, in the current timeline. She appears to still possess the psychic ability to see the past of a person.

Hwal Chases After A Notorious Monster-Turned-Human

Hwal is also keeping tabs on people from the past whom he knows to be pursuing the same woman he has been chasing. He stumbles on a familiar face through the police he is in contact with. The police officer is investigating a rich businessman who has been caught to be involved in serial cases of missing persons.

Cornering the monster reborn as a rich man, he denies knowing the face of the woman they both have been searching for earnestly, for a few hundred years.

Interestingly, Hwal’s closest people in his past life resurface as his hired investigators. General Dan’s reincarnation, Kwon Ho-yeol, also faced a setback in his career when he took in the case of Sang-un 15 years ago.

He also finds a teenager who was beaten by the rich-man monster inside the trunk of the car. Dismissing his unsolicited worries, Hwal’s uncharacteristically lets him go.

Sang-un Is Saved By Hwal

Finding a clue to where Sang-un is probably working, Hwal set forth to go to a laundry factory in the city outskirt. He luckily finds the exact location where Sang-un is working under a different name.

However, the manager not knowing that Sang-un traded her shift to an ajumma who is injured tells Hwal that she’s gone home. He even helped her bring a few carpet rolls since she struggled to move those herself.

Sensing a familiar presence, Hwal goes back to the laundry plant and rescues Sang-un being hounded by the monster whom she previously encountered and vowed to get her.

Finally meeting the woman he has been pursuing for a long time, Hwal gets surprised when he saw a vision when she touched his wounded face. Just then, Sang-un’s younger sister also arrives, and Hwal sees the woman who has the face of his wife in his previous life.

Bulgasal: Immortal Souls Episode 3 Musings

Establishing the reincarnations of people from Hwal’s past in the present timeline, Bulgasal: The Immortal Souls continues to equip its new chapter with ample thrill and drama. Aside from that glimpses of the characters and their supernatural abilities are also being unraveled.

Hwal’s encounter with teenager Do-woon also hints at another reborn soul from his past. I’m going to deduce, he is A-chan. We also see in this episode how the possibility of people he shared a good relationship before will not be the same in the current lifetime and vice versa.

In the 4th episode preview, we see the main cast all officially introduced in the picture. Naturally, the hard-to-gauge-on story direction of the series keeps viewers’ attention since there are a lot of variables that can be inserted. Unpredictability in a narrative when done neatly is always a good thing.

Initially, Hwal has a firm agreement of entering an atonement mission, but meeting the two women of contrasting weights in his heart and memory, he would be on a hitch.

More importantly, we are only on the second week so there’s more to the labyrinthine ideas of rebounded curses and samsara incorporated in the series.

Will Hwal postpone his centuries-long dream of revenge?
