When Young-woo brought up a case about claiming undue profits worth KRW3000; she excitedly asks Lawyer Jung if she can go on a business trip. Of course, she has a cute ulterior motive to mix business with her favorite thing – and that is to watch dolphins on the vast sea of Jeju Island.

Her business trip turns into a team building with Su-yeon, Min-woo Lawyer Jung and Jun-ho. The latter also tells her that aside from whale watching, he will also introduce her to his sister and brother-in-law who live on the island.

“I thought I will have more freedom when I reach 30s, but my parents’ health won’t allow me that freedom.”

At night, seeing his juniors preoccupied with the case; Lawyer Jung declares they should enjoy their first night on Jeju Island. Su-yeon volunteers to buy drinks and Min-woo accompanies her.

Receiving a call from his father, Su-yeon checks if he has some problems. He responds by citing how lucky Su-yeon is to have a well-off family and blabs how he is the family’s breadwinner so his worries do not stop.

Following their sumptuous dinner; Geu Ra-mi is left no choice but to help Young-woo find the source of noise that can’t make her sleep. Removing the battery of the small clock at the living room, they were surprised to see Lawyer Jung clutching his tummy outside while sipping a drink.

“You’re in such a difficult relationship. We just want you to be happy. You should bring home a girl who can make you happy not someone you have to take care of.”

Going to what was planned, Jun-ho brings Young-woo to meet his sister the next day. Before that, they go to the sea to try to see whales but to no avail.

Picking up Geu Rami and Min-sik’s pieces of advice from when meeting the family of a lover; Young-woo enthusiastically made efforts to impress. However, her intentions did not serve the purpose.

Jun-ho’s sister voices her concern about Jun-ho dating Young-woo. She tells him not to introduce her to their parents less they make them worry about him since he’s not going to marry her anyway.

Expressing she’s upset and worried about how he’s in a difficult relationship; she reminds him to bring a woman who can make him happy and not someone he needs to take care of.

Unknown to them, Young-woo hears their conversation. Albeit Jun-ho standing by Young-woo’s side, telling his sister not to say those things since she does not know Young-woo well.

“They say Korea is No. 1 for treating stomach cancer and mine is not even stage 4. It is only stage 3.”

On the next trial day, the defense takes the court stage and shared that cultural heritage involving Buddhist temple mountains cover the surrounding nature and land.

When Young-woo was about to question the defense’s witness, Lawyer Jung, unfortunately, falls down. It turns out that his health is deteriorating from all those missed meals and unhealthy way of living as he prioritizes his work over caring for his health.

Diagnosed with Stage 3 stomach cancer, Lawyer Jung reassures CEO Han that he is okay and will get surgery when they finish the Hwangjisa case.

Trying to lighten the mood, Young-woo suggests finding the owner of the noodle house that Lawyer Jung wanted to eat. But her senior dismisses it and asks them to focus on the case.

Wanting to do something good for Lawyer Jung, Young-woo proceeds with her initial plan. Team Hanbada, even the mood-breaker Min-woo, and her friends also join in finding at least the owner of the noodle house.

But their search is going bleak. Still, they were able to deduce that the owner of the noodle house is in Jeju since he visits his mother once a month.

” Lee Jun Ho is the type of person who can make me happy. He can take care of me like you do. The problem is me. Am I someone who can make Jun-ho happy? Wouldn’t I make him lonely?”

The Hanjisa case is also not progressing because of the defense’ strong claim on Culture Heritage Protection Act. Visiting Lawyer Jung at the hospital, Young-woo didn’t get much help but met his ex-wife who shared how the conversation she witnessed between them reminded her of why she gave up on him.

Listening to her heartfelt confession about how she felt unhappy with Lawyer Jung, something struck Young-woo’s heart. So, when she answers the phone call from her father, she asked why he wants to know Jun-ho.

Her father responds that he would check if he can make his daughter happy and if he can take care of her like how he does it. With tears brimming in her eyes, Young-woo shares with her dad that Jun-ho makes her happy and cares for her as he does. However, she is concerned if she can do the same for him.

The following day, while trying their luck to see whales, Young-woo tells Jun-ho they should stop dating. Surprised to hear those words, he panics and tries to reason how it does not make sense.

Using the words from Hwangjisa Abbott about not being blinded by what she sees and finding the meaning beyond it; Jun-ho makes an appeal. But his words give her a eureka moment about their possible winning card in the Hanjisa case.

“You say we shouldn’t be together and you’re leaving like this? Am I a joke to you?”

Rushing to meet Lawyer Jung, Young-woo halts her steps when Jun-ho burst out about how she treated him. She can only apologize, unable to process how she had offended him.

Just then, the dolphin they’ve been trying to stalk appeared but they didn’t see it since their emotions are both high.

Young-woo gives her newly-realized argument to the judge on the last day of the trial turning the tables for them. The people around her and Jun-ho learn about their breakup. Over alcohol, Jun-ho pours out his frustrations to Su-yeon and Min-woo who both try to console him.

Meanwhile, Young-woo goes to a karaoke room with her bestie and Min-sik who tried to lighten up her mood by doing a duet of sad breakup songs.

Jun-ho helps Lawyer Jung be discharged from the hospital and receives spontaneous advice for him to hold on to the person he likes.

Team Hanbada along with Geu Ra-mi and Min-sik go back to Hanjisa temple to pay respect to the Abbott before leaving for Seoul. Suggests that the temple should make arrangements with the Buddhist order administration to mediate and bring up the case of Hanjisa to the government; Lawyer Jung also offers help from Hanbada.

“We were trying to find you to cook meat noodles for a lawyer who might die because of stomach cancer.”

Sitting together for a lunch prepared by the temple’s cook; Lawyer Jung praised the meal and gives an idea to Haengbok noodle shop owner that the team has been looking for.

Young-woo goes to see him and requests to prepare noodles for Lawyer Jung. They also offer help to file a damage case against Hangeun noodles for recruiting his former staff which resulted in the original recipe getting leaked.

With all problems resolved, the only thing that remains is the ambiguity of where the relationship between Young-woo and Jun-ho stands.

Extraordinary Attorney Woo Episodes 13 and 14 Musings

Bringing in the elephant in the room that we viewers also refuse to discuss, Extraordinary Attorney Woo bravely tackled the reality of how a romantic relationship is not an easy feat for people with autism.

Jun-ho’s sister reminded us of the “free pass” that we’ve bestowed on the “whale couple” out of the fondness we’ve shared with them since day 1. Admirably, the series raised that reality with tacit understanding.

Continuing its healing intentions; the series also sent a strong message to all people with careers to take a break. As seen in the story of Lawyer Jung who was divorced by his ex-wife because of his over-commitment to work.

Peeking at Min-woo’s situation made us realize that he is not textbook evil but is just trying whatever way he can since he has people relying on him. Will we see him making the right move down the last episodes of the series?

The final week is packed with closures to what will happen with Tae Sumi’s government post appointment since CEO Han is brewing something.

Celebrate the colorful courtroom life of Woo Young-woo in Extraordinary Attorney Woo! International fans can watch the series on Netflix.
