Ji Chang Wook & Kim Ji Won Reminisce The Highs & Lows Of Their Summer Fling In “Lovestruck In The City” Episodes 3 & 4

As sweet as it can get, the whirlwind romance in Lovestruck in the City unfortunately was also good as it lasted.

After sharing a night together, an inevitable change is bound to happen between Seon-ah and Jae-won. Mutually entering a world of their own, their super fast intimacy development unfortunately did not linger after their separation.

Lovestruck in the City Episodes 3 & 4 Key Moments

After sharing a night together, waking up to the sight of the woman he slept with talking with another man obviously made Jae-wan pout. But sensing his sulky mood, Seon-ah just know what praise to throw to appease him.

“If she treats it like a one-night stand, then do the same.”

Sharing their thoughts in the awkward the-morning-after story of Jae-won, they cite theories of what could have been the reason for Seon-ah’s nonchalant treatment. From questioning his bed prowess, to which Jae-wan bravely disputed; suggesting to treat it cooly like how Seon-ah did was also raised.

That’s exactly what Jae-won did, acting passive and not trying to throw a how’s-my-performance-check or what-relationship-we-have kind of inquiry.

Apparently Kang Geon and Seon-yeong have the same one-night fate years ago. But their morning-after is not as bland as what happened with Jae-won and Seon-ah.

“If you don’t come by at 6PM, I’ll take it as ‘I don’t like you.”

When Jae-won learned that Seon-ah can pull of a hard surfing trick, he whines about it. His disappointment escalates when he heard her ask if she can go to his trailer. Baffled at her line of thinking, he tries straightening her out so she responds that she won’t go then as he pleases.

But back at his trailer he learned that Seon-ah did not watch a movie with another man the last time, so his mood lightened up. He sneaks in to send a private message to her while she works and sets an ultimatum that will define their relationship.”

However, she has a work that night which Jae-won was not aware of. Realizing he has waited long enough, Jae-won faces the truth and sets forth to what he initially planned. Constantly checking on the time, Seon-ah relays how she considered treating what happened as a “mere one-night stand”.

But then, she is reminded of how she came to Yangyang to heal and be a better version of Eun-o. Ditching her part-time job that is not yet over, she runs to where Jae-won is waiting and chase after his trailer which already departed.

“I no longer try to find any meaning in anything.”

Basking in their new-found mutual attachment, Jae-won and Seon-ah share sweet moments like enjoying quiet moments, playing in the rain and warming up together with hot coffee. They even decide to get married. But Seon-ah who has a dream proposal in mind, coaxed Jae-won to do it for her.

Armed with a guitar, he goes to a telephone booth, calls the landline at Rara’s Ramyeon restaurant and croons a sweet serenade for his ladylove. Along with that, he also prepared their wedding complete with wedding photos and rings.

Weeks after that, the two also frolicked in their honeymoon stage after their mutually claimed definition of wedding. However, an urgent demand at his work forced Jae-won to leave Seon-ah.

Lovestruck in the City Episodes 3 & 4 Musings

That Eun-o line of her no longer trying to find meaning to trivial things screams what we all need at the moment. Adulting has often robbed us of focusing more on the worries of life than enjoying what we can to make it meaningful.

Lovestruck in the City is not just a summer fling series. Its resonating words on finding purpose in life are to be pondered about. Like the rest of the guys curious about what’s going on Seon-ah/Eun-o’s mind, I also want to know why she did not keep in contact with Jae-won after their urgent parting.

In the waning moments she cited her reasons as something that negated what she initially hoped for to achieve in her trip. To build a better version of herself. But given how fast everything happened between them; and how healing in reality is a lifelong work-in-progress, we can sympathize to Eun-o’s worries.

What to look forward in episodes 5 & 6?

Episode 3 of Lovestruck in the City also gave a glimpse on the connection of Kang Geon and Seong-yeon. Both characters especially Kang Geon, I hope to be friends in the future. *wink

So, I think, aside from tracing the romance of Jae-won and Eun-o, the series will most likely prepare happy-endings for the three couples.

If you are up for quick romance story fix, Lovestruck in the City should be on your watch list. It streams on Netflix every Tuesday and Friday.

Takeaway Quotes

“I decided to become Yoon Seon-ah and leave the coward Lee Eun-o behind. I decided to do everything I ever wanted to do, rolling the punches and following my heart. I always thought that I would live as if every day was a party. I don’t need to hold on my feelings.”

“Be it one night, 10 days or several years. I just thought it would be okay as long as I am with him because he never asked me why.”
