 Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist

Physician Yoo and Lady Eun-woo failed to save their patient and were tested with the truth in episode 10 of Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist.

In the tenth episode of Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist the King personally visited Sorak Village to give orders to Physician Yoo. On the other hand, Jo Tae-ha also went there to kill Se-poong’s patient, who also witnessed the assassination of Se-poong’s father.

Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist Episode 10 Highlights

“Your father was found with a discolored stiletto needle in his hand. And I was investigating the case. However, I no longer have that stiletto needle. The man who stabbed me probably took the needle.”

Now that the Second State Councillor starts to be suspicious of Royal Inspector Cho, Im Soo-man now works for him. Commander Im got Tae-hak’s trust as he informed him of the secret investigation that Sin-woo is conducting.

Additionally, Soo-man successfully followed Tae-hak’s order to kill the Royal Inspector. He also got the upper hand when he incidentally got the stiletto needle that Tae-hak wants to get rid of.

Fortunately, Se-poong and Eun-woo found Sin-woo and secretly mended his wounds in the mountains. With Sin-woo’s life now also in danger, Se-poong’s doubts about him gradually clear out. Sin-woo decided to leave to protect the two and wander into the mountains.

“I heard about the young physician who works here. Where can I find him?”

In Hanyang, Tae-hak also starts to become wary of the King’s action, and he later confirmed that the Court Lady he’s been searching for is now under the King’s protection. He learned that Court Lady Wol, who is emotionally unwell, is secretly transported to Gyesoo Clinic.

The King hides his identity and requested his friend, Physician Yoo Se-poong, to help cure Court Lady Wol’s condition. When the King left, Se-poong unveils his identity, which surprised the Gyesoo Family since Physician Gye made disrespectful remarks about the King.

On the other hand, the Second State Councillor orders Im Soo-man to confirm if the Gyesoo Family is hiding a young lady at the clinic. As Soo-man successfully confirms this, he is now ordered to keep eye on the girl.

“The Ojisangseung Therapy states that anxiety can be overcome with joy.”

After Commander Im made a commotion in the clinic, the Gyesoo Clinic was alarmed that Wol might be in danger and that Tae-hak’s men are on the move. Despite their unease, Se-poong prioritizes finding Wol’s ailment and curing it.

Eun-woo and the rest did their part to make Wol feel at home since they notice that Wol negatively reacts and cry over small things. To help her speak out her feelings, Se-poong and Eun-woo try different ways to communicate with her.

Furthermore, Se-poong finally recognized Court Lady Wol to be the girl with epilepsy he treated, whom everyone thought was dead. He then concluded that Wol’s epilepsy worsen because of her anxieties.

Since Wol got involved with the late King’s death, her family was killed by Cho Tae-hak’s men. These dark memories caused her to get tense and have hallucinations, and Physician Yoo is determined to help her overcome these with joy.

“Physician Yoo. It is not your fault. Your father was murdered. A man with a black jade butterfly ornament. Commissioner Yoo was killed by that man.”

Se-poong makes a risky decision to help Wol by visiting her home where her family was killed. He knows that behind these painful memories, Wol can reminisce happy memories with her family.

In this way, Wol will also be safe since he noticed that Commander Im is plotting. However, Commander Im’s men were watching their every move, and he reported this to Tae-hak.

Physician Yoo’s plan succeeded as Wol now courageously talked to him and informed him about what she witnessed. This information gave hope to Se-poong knowing that Wol is strong evidence on helping him to reveal the truth.

This light of hope faded quickly as Man-bok told them that Commander Im and Cho Tae-hak are on their way to Wol’s house. Se-poong hurriedly took off and Wol hid in the woods.

He baited the men and left Wol for a while, but when he returned, Wol was nowhere to be found. Se-poong returns to the house where he saw an assassin bringing the dead body of Wol.

Physician Yoo and Lady Eun-woo’s heart was crushed to witness such a horrendous sight. Both of their hearts tear more when they saw that the assassin who killed Wol was Royal Inspector Sin-woo.

Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist Episode 10 Musings

Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist made us love and hate this episode at the same time. Like how the characters’ silver lining disappeared in a blink of an eye, the writers continue to put me between the line of having and losing hope in Sin-woo’s character.

The drama has put viewers in Se-poong and Eun-woo’s shoes who believe that Sin-woo is not the assassin Wol described. However, the ending of the episode made viewers on the edge of their seats because of Sin-woo’s revelations.

Despite this, let’s still have a little bit of confidence that there would be a turn of events in the last few episodes. Viewers should not miss out on the last week of the series to fully unveil the character of Sin-woo.

On the bright side, I appreciate the drama for tackling psychological illnesses like anxiety that most can relate to. Even though Wol’s anxiety is severe, Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist proved that joy heals any sickness.
