Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist Episode 9 Highlights

“I cannot ignore the truth. If someone poisoned the late King with dansacho, I must uncover the truth!… The Second State Councillor is already trying to kill me.”

As the Gyesoo Clinic successfully treated their patients infected with the plague, Se-poong reaches out to Physician Gye for help. With Poong’s determination, Physician Gye reveals more information about the day when his mentor was killed by Jo Tae-hak.

He clearly recalls Physician Shin Gui-soo, a student of Jeon Kyu-hyun, forcefully giving his mentor dansacho, which killed Physician Jeon. This information helped Se-poong connect all the dots and is now determined to reveal the truth.

However, Physician Gye tries to stop him since he knows how dangerous the Second State Councillor is. Still, danger doesn’t stop Se-poong’s fiery determination and plan on going to Hanyang.

Furthermore, Physician Gye helps him as he resumes gathering more information about the dansacho by asking different pharmacists.

“A lonely herb picker came to the village to kidnap someone?”

Se-poong’s mind then became preoccupied when Lady Eun-woo suddenly needs medical help from the shock after she encountered a kidnapper. With Lady Eun-woo’s condition, the Gyesoo Family confirmed that both Se-poong and Royal Inspector Sin-woo liked her.

The two also went to the place where Eun-woo saw the man and discovered that a Lady living there was the girl that the kidnapper suppose to take. As Eun-woo recovered her strength, Lady Yeon-hwa’s mother allowed her to administer acupuncture since she also suffering from trauma because of the incident.

One night, they were awakened by Eun-woo’s scream and found out that a theft entered the clinic. Thankfully, Eun-woo was not harmed, but they figured out that the man left some high-quality herbs found in the mountains.

The wet soil from the man’s shoes left traces, which helped Eun-woo figure out that he might be living in the mountains. Se-poong and Man-bok then went there and saw a man lying on the floor that seems to have a similar illness to Lady Yeon-hwa.

“They both are suffering from being lovesick. All day long, one can only think of the other. The illness is not stated in medical books, and it is tough to cure.”

Se-poong and Man-bok immediately carried the man, Son Moo-hyung, to the clinic to treat him. Moo-hyung confessed that he secretly put the herbs he picked in the clinic since he knows that Eun-woo and Se-poong visit his lover, Lady Yeon-hwa.

To confirm this, Eun-woo and Se-poong made Lady Yeon-hwa talk about her kidnapper, and she also revealed that the kidnapping was planned by her and Moo-hyung. She knows that her mother won’t accept Moo-hyung to be the man she would marry, but their love became the driving force to defy their fate.

However, their plans went south as Yeon-hwa’s mother hired men to find them and catch the “kidnapper.” Physician Yoo concluded that the illness that Yeon-hwa and Moo-hyung suffer from is lovesickness.

Despite how tough this illness is, Se-poong doesn’t want to leave his patients and planned a way to cure this. In the bamboo forest, Eun-woo encouraged Lady Yeon-hwa to speak out about how much she misses her man.

Little did she know that Moo-hyung was also there and heard and understand her feelings. With that, the two secretly flee and defended their love.

Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist Episode 9 Musings

The ninth episode of Poong, The Joseon Psychiatrist narrates a warm story highlighting that people can also suffer lovesickness. The series consistently shares different stories and educate viewers with various knowledge in the medical field.

This episode also reveals Royal Inspector Sin-woo is an ally and an individual who doesn’t follow unjust orders. His bromance and “competition” with Se-poong became one of his character’s charms that viewers can look forward to.

As the series slowly reaches its end, the recent episodes have many pivotal scenes including Jo Tae-hak heartlessly sending an assassin to kill his adopted son.

Now that viewers grow fondness of Sin-woo, I hope that the series won’t end his character soon but became a key to helping Se-poong. Let us then continue to cheer for the budding romance of the lead characters and hope that Sin-woo will survive the attack.
