After Ji-un overcame a crisis about his resignation, he runs into another issue in the latest episode of The King’s Affection.
Having his position secured as the Crown Prince’s Royal Tutor, Ji-un is running out of time to save his friends. Also, someone notifies him that the Minister of Personnel lodged an appeal for his resignation.

The King’s Affection Episode 6 Key Moments
“Why are you staring at each other?”
Attempting to justify what is happening to Ga-on and Eunuch Hong, who have come running to the Crown Prince’s office, the embarrassed Yi Hwi dodges the topic and just promises to attend her morning classes.
While attending her lessons, an absentminded Yi Hwi recounts how Ji-un protects her from being hit in the head by a falling antique vase. She struggles to dismiss the thought from her mind but is unable to focus on her studies.
On the other hand, Ji-un has a minor cut while rushing to clean up the vase’s broken pieces. He then proceeds to the location of the Prince’s early lecture.
Ji-un observes Yi Hwi, hoping to learn why he feels something whenever he sets his eyes on her. When the other tutor arrives, Ji-un checks both his and the other tutor’s pulses. His heartbeat is unbelievably fast.
Yi Hwi, unable to focus on her studies, slowly looks at Ji-un, who is also looking at her. They both exchanged dubious glances. When Tutor Yang notices both of them staring at one another, he inquires as to why they are staring at one another. Yi Hwi, surprised, explains that she forgot to bring her book.
“Your Royal Highness. Why do you have this book?”
After Tutor Yang directs Ji-un to obtain the Prince’s book for his evening lessons, Yi Hwi realizes that the Zuo Zhuan is visible for Ji-un to discover.
Apparently, Yi Hwi arrives too late, as Ji-un finds the book and inquires as to why she is in possession of the book he transcribed for Dam-i. She makes an excuse and informs him that she has no recollection of a court maid named Dam-i.
“That girl must have been someone quite special to you”
Wondering about the handling of Dami-i’s records, she learns that Dam-i was recorded as having “left the palace due to illness”. Yi Hwi can’t help but feel regretful about the history that has brought about Dam-i.
The next day, Yi Hwi brings Ji-un the list of the court maids and apologizes for her behavior the previous day. She informs him that Dam-i died just before he left the palace due to an illness.
Watching Ji-un’s sadness upon learning about Dam-i, Yi Hwi tells him that the girl he was looking for must have been particularly precious to him. He replies to her that Dam-i was his first love.
“Could you keep your promise one more time?”
Receiving a notice that the Minister of Personnel had made a petition for his resignation, Ji-un desperately seeks Yi Hwi’s help one last time. However, she refuses his request because she has no control over the situation.
Prince Jaeun then approaches Yi Hwi and asks her to assist Ji-un, explaining that he only agreed to serve in the palace in order to save his friends. He also informs Yi Hwi that Ji-un established Samgaebang to help the children from the slums.
The King’s Affection Episode 6 Musings
Interestingly, episode 6 of The King’s Affection revealed why Jung Ji-un chose to become a physician. It was Dami’s wish that someone feeds the slum children and keep them healthy.
Meanwhile, the affection between Yi Hwi and Ji-un continues to develop as their fates become even more intertwined. Seeing them both gazing longingly at one another will likewise cause your heart to race and flutter, just as Ji-un did in this episode.
In the preview for the next episode, we see Yi Hwi prove herself to the King by handling the arrival of the Ming guest, which ultimately disappoints him. Would this result in Yi Hwi reverting to the icy cold prince she once was?
