The NEON Webtoon Team is undergoing yet another dilemma with their artists. Moreover, Ma-eum seems to have a hard time working with Dae-ryuk in Episode 13 of Today’s Webtoon.
With the recent revelation on the last episode of Today’s Webtoon, Jun-yeong finally tells Ma-eum why he’s been seeing Director Heo separately.
Furthermore, Ma-eum meets Director Shin with Dae-ryuk to discuss his webtoon “Weapon Feeb” drama adaptation. However, Dae-ryuk abruptly left the meeting out of the trauma that Director Shin triggered. Meanwhile, Na Gang-nam shares some big news that shocked Ma-eum and Ji-hyung.

Today’s Webtoon Episode 13 Highlights *Spoiler Alert*
Episode 13 opens with a mysterious man scrolling through an article about Dae-ryuk. It appears that the mysterious man is talking to someone about the webtoon artist’s identity.
It looks like another dilemma is brewing for Ma-eum as Dae-ryuk seems to be facing another problem because of his recent success.
“Do you still think you’re on your own and that the team’s issues are separate? Did you ever truly care about the team, even just once?”
Furthermore, Jun-yeong continues working with Director Heo to find out what he is actually up to, and Ma-eum once again witnessed their cryptic talking.
Meanwhile, Ma-eum and Jun-yeong went to a meeting with producer Do-hee to discuss artist Oh’s new project.
However, with her recent discovery, she is bothered by his actions. After the meeting, she decided to confront him about what she saw earlier. He responds that it was about an article.
Because of the series of downturns that the NEON Webtoon Team has been facing, Man-chul held an emergency meeting to ensure they would have the upper hand in the board meeting.
They also became worried about producer Kwon’s meeting with Mo Young-soo. This was a brave thing to do for producer Kwon after the Gingertoon incident.
Taking us again in a quick flashback of producer Kwon’s life, we learn that his wife decided to divorce him because of his job and his love for webtoons.
During their meeting, producer Kwon bravely told Mo Young-soo that he owes him an apology. In the end, the two finally reconcile. Unfortunately, Mo Young-soo declines the NEON Webtoon Team’s offer because he worries about the future of his employees.
Meanwhile, Ji-hyung meets Youngtoon’s CEO Kim Young-shin again, not only to reconsider the job offer but to also warn her to play fair against NEON Webtoon, which left Youngtoon’s CEO speechless.
“Because of you. It’s thanks to you that I was able to stay in the team, and I wanted to protect the team for your sake. This is what I wanted to tell you before, a confession about the things I’ve done and the reason behind them.”
It turns out that Jun-yeong already told Ji-hyung that he was working with Director Heo to find out his hidden agenda and his relationship with Youngtoon.
Although Ji-hyung tried to stop him already because he might get into trouble, Jun-yeong continues to talk to Director Heo and records their conversation every time they secretly meet.
Ji-hyung starts to notice that Ma-eum has been distant from Jun-yeong, and with that, he decided to tell the latter that he should tell Ma-eum the truth because obviously she already noticed his strange actions.
Because of Ji-hyung’s words, Jun-yeong went to Ma-eum’s house to tell her everything. However, Ma-eum’s father thought that he was a stalker, so he hilariously grabbed Jun-yeong’s collar, and Ma-eum immediately mediates between them.
Ma-eum explains the situations and Jun-yeong got invited to eat dinner with her family.
As Ma-eum’s younger sister teases her, Jun-yeong tells everyone that he likes Ma-eum but immediately changes it by saying that he only trusts her as his friend.
After the dinner, Jun-yeong explains everything to Ma-eum, including why he has to meet Director Heo.
It looks like Jun-yeong’s feelings are getting deeper and deeper; it shows that he doesn’t want him and Ma-eum to drift apart just because of his plan.
“Some wounds are hard to bring up, but if you cover up a wound just because it hurts, it doesn’t always heal properly. It could get infected.”
Dae-ryuk’s webtoon Weapon Feeb finally takes a step to make a drama series. During the meeting, the director was asking him about his story and how he came up with his plot.
He then tells the director where he got the idea for the story that he had been working on for years. Upon hearing his explanation, the director already knew where he was coming from and told him that it seemed like he imagined Feeb as his mother.
Dae-ryuk abruptly left the meeting after the director triggered his trauma, leaving Ma-eum shocked because of what happened.
A few days later, Ma-eum decides to visit Dae-ryuk. He asks Ma-eum why she did not bring up what happened the last time.
Ma-eum just simply tells him that there are wounds that are hard to bring up, which basically means that she respects Dae-ryuk’s privacy and does not want to pressure him to open up with her.
However, in his very own way, Dae-ryuk hands Ma-eum a compilation of his drawings that explain the painful childhood that traumatized him as he grew up.
Ma-eum finally understands Dae-ryuk’s actions and tells him that she is not the almighty like he actually thinks, but with all of her human strength, she will help him.
In the end, Ma-eum finally secures the adaptation contract for Dae-ryuk’s webtoon Weapon Feeb.
“I thought we were running together. Why are you running to run solo as if you’re carrying all the weight of the world on your shoulders?”
After Dae-ryuk’s incident in the meeting, Ma-eum bumped into Ji-hyung on the way home. He already knew that something is wrong with her, so he comforts Ma-eum.
Subsequently, Ma-eum receives a call that artist Na is about to sign Youngtoon’s contract, it turns out that Han-seul was the one who called Ma-eum.
Ma-eum rushes to see to prevent signing a contract with Youngtoon.
Jang Hye-mi did what she had to do to secure artist Na. The three of them cornered artist Na. However, artist Na was pressured not only because of the three but also because of Han-seul, who suddenly walked out.
Artist Na immediately panics and bursts out that Han-seul is pregnant. That is why he wants to work two jobs for the baby. He decided to focus on his family and only project for now.
Additionally, writer Baek Eo-jin receives a heartbreaking diagnosis called lumbar degenerative kyphosis, which is commonly caused by a prolonged crooked posture.
Writer Baek’s situation could also mean that he will be retiring very soon, and that will be a huge problem for the webtoon team because writer Baek is one of the team’s top-tier artists.
In the end, they came up with a solution after failing to cast Mo Young-soo, the team decided to make artist Na the second NEON’s Mo Young-soo, creating a subsidiary company that can publish several of his works.
Today’s Webtoon Episode 13 Musings
Today’s Webtoon Episode 13 ends with a mystery woman who turns out to be Dae-ryuk’s mother who appears to look for Dae-ryuk. Considering that she was the one who made Dae-ryuk’s childhood traumatizing, this sparks trouble for the rising webtoon artist.
Episode 13 highlights what it’s like to live with prolonged childhood trauma and the lingering effect if not properly healed. Dae-ryuk’s trauma response is heart-wrenching because it clearly illustrates how suffocating it is to carry that burden while growing up.
On the bright side, thanks to our girl Ma-eum who is always there for him, giving him hope and a pillar of strength that he needs.
Moreover, the love triangle between the three main characters also becomes more interesting as the whole story unfolds. In this week’s episode, we were given less of the Jun-yeong and Ma-eum moment and more of Ji-hyung and Ma-eum which made our heart flutter.
When Ma-eum asks for Ji-hyung’s thoughts on artist Na Gang-nam’s webtoon, they didn’t realize they were so close to each other, and when they realized Jun-yeong saw them. Now we’re torn between Jun-yeong and Ji-hyung because Kim Sejeong and Daniel Choi’s chemistry is really adorable.
Also, there’s something about Daniel Choi’s portrayal of Ji-hyung that will make you fall in love. His way of comforting Ma-eum and those small gestures like suddenly tying Ma-eum’s shoe lace is really adorable.
Additionally, in this episode, it looks like Ji-hyung is pondering what he actually feels for Ma-eum. While waiting for the elevator he was having flashbacks about how is Ma-eum making him smile and what he feels every time he sees Jun-yeong and Ma-eum together.
It is also noticeable how the tension of the series quickly died down. But let’s hope for the best, it looks like Today’s Webtoon is preparing something even more. Expect that there will be major plot twists as we are now on the last few episodes.
